Dana POV
"Why, Ares?" I whispered. I desired for him to be honest with me. "You cannot simply reject me without explaining," I added.
"I just told you the reason. Omega, you must come to terms with the reality and accept it. I cannot and will never be in a relationship with someone as weak as you," he declared. I intended for only him to hear those words, but he responded in a way that made me feel humiliated in front of everyone.
"That is correct. We should not get a Luna like her. She should just have left."
"She truly believes that she stands a chance. Poor girl."
The werewolves have begun to utter many harsh words in hushed tones. I feel as though I have just ruined the moment.
He no longer looks at me the way he used to. Everything is cold.
"No..." I muttered to myself. "Ares, you're not like this before." I fixed my gaze upon him, conveying a profound message, as I departed from the crowd without acknowledging their approval.
Tears stream down my face as I walk away from the crowd.
I am unsure about the reason behind his rejection of me. It is causing me to feel sad. He is not like that. Ares cannot simply call me Omega. He promised to accept me for who I am, regardless of my position.
There must be a reason for this.
I refuse to give up in this manner.
There is a commotion happening, and people seem confused by my reaction.
I am unable to believe it.
"I can't accept his rejection of my special day..." I muttered.
"Dana, is there something bothering you?" One of the Omegas asked me.
"You are causing a disturbance. You should have gracefully accepted his rejection instead of appearing desperate."
"You mean nothing to him anymore. How can you possibly expect more-"
"I kindly request that everyone refrain from speaking. Ares must have a reason, and I will find out what it is!" I interrupted abruptly, causing their words to cease, and they exchanged a perplexed glance.
"Ares loves me... Perhaps he is doing that for-"
"He just humiliated your position. He expressed his viewpoint. He is our Alpha, and we must show him respect. Dana, it's important to remember that he is no longer a teenager, so we shouldn't have high expectations for him to fulfill the promise he made when he was less mature."
Despite their attempts to convince me with their words. I still desire closure. I am still interested in acquiring further information. I am unable to believe them. They are merely individuals who identify as Omegas and have an affinity for Ares. It is easy for them to discourage me.
I whispered, "Don't try to stop me. You are not aware of my relationship with Ares. I know him better than all of you do." I added.
The moon is shining, and I wanted to talk to Ares. I desired closure. I was halted at the corner when I suddenly heard the sound of his footsteps accompanied by another person.
"I believe we must need an alliance, Area," I heard the voice of an elder say.
"I understand," Ares stated coldly.
He has undergone a significant transformation. His voice has a more masculine tone.
"We have only one option, which is to marry the daughter of another pack." I was wide-eyed when I heard that.
It is causing me stress.
He is my mate, and it is not fair for him to marry another woman after he promised to marry me!
"That is their strongest proposal, and it is also the most effective way to ensure the pack's safety. It is a double win, regardless. She is truly beneficial for you."
"We simply cannot allow the worst things to happen again."
I heard Ares chuckle. "I will consider it," he said eagerly.
I closed my eyes and swiftly returned to my room, fearing I might have been discovered in the corner.
I don't know what to feel about it, but I know I have to talk to Ares. Not at this time; it's not the best time, but I can't marry another woman he doesn't love for an alliance. He's not like that. He's smart.
Finally, it's morning, and I believe it's the perfect time to converse with Ares.
I hastily dressed and left my dwelling in search of Ares. However, I couldn't help but notice that people were emerging from their rooms and congregating. An announcement needs to be made.
I can detect Ares' scent nearby.
I caught sight of one of the Omegas.
I hurried towards her, "What is going on?" I inquired.
"I'm not sure, but I know it pertains to the new Alpha. We need to go to the main gathering hall again," she responded, walking ahead.
I let out a sigh of disappointment when I realized that I could not communicate with Ares.
As I approached the main gathering hall, I noticed Ares standing beside me. But what shocked me even more was seeing a familiar girl.
They're holding their hands.
As I approached the location, I was taken aback to find Blaire Van Everhart there, the person responsible for my parent's death. She is the cause of my anger.
I can feel my anger igniting within me.
"She is Blaire Van Everhart, the woman I have chosen to be with me and the woman I will always be with together." Ares' declaration has brought me to tears with every word he spoke.
"I would like to inform everyone that Blaire, the daughter of the Alpha in Black River Pack, will be taking on the role of my Luna. Our wedding is scheduled to take place tomorrow." He announced.
I feel a deep pain in my heart as I watch them engage in a passionate kiss, surrounded by a crowd of applauding people. Meanwhile, I am growing weaker from the emotional anguish.
