Cypher followed me in his car. When we arrived at the duplex, I led him inside.
“Nice place,” he said as he walked with me to the guest bedroom, where I used to sleep until Damien moved out.
“Thanks. This is your room while you’re here. Towels and soap are in the bathroom. Meet me in the living room when you’re settled.”
“This is great, Kenneth. You didn’t have to do this, especially with, you know…”
“It’s Kenny, and don’t worry about it.” I smiled. “We may have met because of terrible events, but I’d like to think we’ll get beyond that, okay?”
“Me, too.”
