Chapter 1: Hall of Reincarnation Souls are said to be a figment of a human’s imagination. Soul is a spiritual connection that they created to help them remember the existence of those who have left them.  But, what if they are real? Not just souls, but the beautiful angels, the archangels of bedtime stories and even the mighty creator of heaven and earth.  They are all real, and I’m one of them. An archangel of heaven created to follow its biddings. An angel that is unblemished and beloved by the most high. An archangel granted with ethereal wings and the name Lucifer. I was created a thousand years ago as an embodiment of the creator’s love for the morning star. A thousand years old archangel is still considered a fledgling in heaven and that is why I felt deeply honored to be given the position of a chief archangel with dozens of archangels under my wings, literally.  Archangels are the workers of heaven’s will, and we are only given a month’s time of rest in a hundred years full of duties.  Reincarnations, finding lost souls, recording memories of the dead, healing broken souls, punishing sinful souls and rewarding the purest souls are the tasks of archangels.  The duties of an archangel are decided by the Hall of archangels that is managed especially by a six-winged angel, a seraph. “Chief Archangel Lucifer.”  A flowing voice filled with the melody of heaven resounded inside the ark of the Hall of archangels waking me up from my reverie as a strip of pure white paper flew out from the ark and circled me.  I lifted my hand and grabbed the decree containing my tasks for another one hundred years and left the premises of the Hall of archangels after bowing my respects to the seraph hidden inside the ark. The seraph is the highest angel on the celestial hierarchy of heaven, and a glimpse of one can turn us all to dust, that is the reason why they do not show themselves to us.   “Hall of Reincarnation.”  I read aloud while staring at the strip of decree. It seems that I need to visit the Hall of reincarnation and organize the documents of millions of souls and their paths of past and present reincarnation.  I wonder how much time it’ll take up and I still need to designate the tasks of those archangels under me.  “Lucifer, wait for me!” I stopped in my tracks and glanced back knowing it’s just Chief Archangel Michael, because he is the only one who calls me without my title and the only one audacious enough to shout in heaven.  “ Chief Archangel Michael, please lower your voice.”  I reprimanded him helplessly as he stood proudly in front of me with a big grin on his face while his wings are gently flapping nonstop on his back because of his excitement.  Chief Archangel Michael was my mentor when I was given the Chief position as he is the perfect candidate because he has been an Archangel for three thousand years and attained the Chief Archangel position in his two thousand years. “Don’t be too rigid Lucifer, we’re best friends.”  I stared at Chief Archangel Michael wordlessly.  “Best friends do not bother over small things like this.”  He smiled brightly that even I felt blinded for a second. I smiled wryly, when did we become best friends? Chief Archangel Michael really is a weird fellow and spouts whatever he wants.  “Did you already receive your tasks? What is it? Is it in the Hall of bliss? Is it maybe the hall of souls? Where? Show me, show me!” I felt lightheaded at his sudden assault of questions. “Did you already receive yours too?”  I interjected to stop him from his barrage of words. Chief Archangel Michael nodded and grinned.  “I did, do you want to know where I’ll be going? I’ll be at the Hall of Bliss” before I had the chance to ask where, he already answered his own question.  “It seems you’ll be quite busy waiting and guiding the purest souls, congratulations” I smiled as it is also a rewarding task for us to meet pure souls because they are bathed in the holy light of heaven.   “Of course, being given this task means I’m capable” Chief Archangel Michael flattered himself with a wide grin on his mouth making me want to laugh. “I have already answered your questions but you have not even bothered to spill where you’ll be stationed, besides will you just call me Michael, I can even guess that you address me as Chief Archangel Michael on your head.”  He muttered while giving me an ‘I know you look’ with his eyes earning a dry smile on my lips.  “I’ll be going to the Hall of reincarnation” I told Michael with a helpless sigh.  Hearing the Hall of reincarnation, Michael visibly shivered in the warm and holy premises of heaven. I can understand his reaction because tracing the reincarnation of millions of souls starting from their first life to their present is a headache inducing process that will take all my time in the hundred years of duty. “Well, um, good luck my friend.” Michael whispered in a mourning tone making me let out a laugh. He sounded like he’s seeing me set off to war.   “How can you laugh at this situation? Are you a masochist?” Michael grumbled as my eyebrows crumpled to a frown. “What is a masochist?” I asked innocently while tilting my head to my right.  “I just heard it from the archangels under me; anyway just do your best!” Michael gave me a playful smile while scratching his head.  “Don’t worry I am also curious about the reincarnation of souls and I will just enjoy my task.” I smiled with confidence because this is just who I am.   “Why would you be curious about reincarnation? You are not even a human being, besides we do not have a reincarnation path because we are created solely from the essence of heaven and if we perish, it will be the end of our existence” Michael sternly uttered as he stared at the boundless clouds of heaven. “We are only created because of the creator’s will and we will perish if he so desires” I muttered out of loyalty, love and blind faith for the most high etched deep within my being.
