Chapter 6Doug was parked across the street, which explained why Lloyd hadn’t seen him pull up. As they approached the truck, an older model Toyota Tundra, Lloyd could just see a tuft of blond hair through the back seat window on the driver’s side. A sudden nervousness gripped him. What if Junior didn’t like him? What if he said or did something to make the kid hate him?
If you want things to move forward with Doug, Lloyd told himself, you’re going to have to interact with his son sooner or later.
Why not later then? Things were still new between Lloyd and Doug. They were still getting to know each other, feel things out, see if they would be a good fit. Throwing Junior into the mix now was iffy at best.
