Chapter 7 - Present
Millen was so tempted to do as he had said. He was so tempted to delete from Cassandra’s and his memories the events that happened on the previous night, and while staring at his glowing hands, the man took a deep breath.
… Pondering all the consequences it could bring them…
Nothing about the powers and actions of a Witch came without a price… A very big one to pay.
Growing up, he had already heard several stories of people who had ended up badly due to it. Perhaps, his mother was just trying to scare him, yet her usual way of warning him up was what stopped the Hybrid man right now.
“What if it hurts Cassandra?”
The growing worries in his heart were much worse than the fears of meeting her after such events.
“What if we ended up doing something bad to Cassie instead?”
Nothing was more terrible to him than losing his dearest friend.
Of course, Millen had other friends. However, none of them made enough part of his life for him to call them in such a way.
… Maybe he could use the term for Evelyn as well, but the young Witch was also his cousin, so he never felt it was the correct way to call the bond between them…
Cassandra, on the other way around, had always been someone who took the first step to approach him until, one day, he could no longer see his life without her.
But nothing about it truly mattered anymore as the man tried to figure out what he should do next… Should he call her and apologize?
Should he go after her, so they could both talk about this and figure things out?
Or… Should he just forget about it all and pretend nothing about this night ever happened?
“Goddess, what should I do?”
Rubbing his eyes, Millen stayed with them closed for a little longer, taking another deep breath as guilt filled his heart once again after he saw the photo his mother had put there on the floor…
It was a childhood picture of the time that they were around ten and eleven. Both of their families were in it as it was taken at some event his parents were doing.
And like the frame’s broken glass, the man felt he had also broken and failed the honest relationship between them due to his irresponsible actions.
… Actually, there were other photos in the room, but Millen had yet to perceive them. He recalled his mother calling to tell him about the extra touch she had put there.
Nevertheless, among the busy activities of last night, it was impossible for the designer to pay any attention to that…
Neither he or Cassandra had noticed it, particularly the special one that rested on the floor now.
That picture was from the last summer before Millen joined a regular school, and back then, the childhood friends had known each other for about two years already.
The usual very boyish girl, who was the first one to break the ice wall that he put between him and Humans, started to get more girly during that time, making the young Millen more shy than usual around her.
It was something that immediately got their parents’ attention, and they didn’t waste a second, soon calling a photographer closer to register that moment….
After all, they were all already used to the boy quickly answering back to the little girl when she teased him that it was all a new scenery they had never seen before.
Even on the first time they met, all the teasing from Cassandra had made Millen push her away, behaving like a child of his age instead of an adult, surprising everyone with his actions, especially the boy himself.
So, being more than aware of his wrong doing, he quickly apologized to Cassie, worried he had broken her somewhere, as he recalled how his Mother always said Humans were weak when compared to them…
Yet… Cassandra didn’t cry or get angry with him, she just started to laugh before standing up and messing with his hair, saying it was his time to try to catch her as she left running.
“Godde-Goodness, look at this. Who would have thought our little Alpha could act like this?”
As he recalled how he was with Humans close by, Millen’s Father soon corrected his words, fitting better to what he was saying without caring much about the Alpha term, as the other couple already knew he always called his son like this.
They thought it was his cute nickname for the boy who acted much more mature than his own age. Although, it was hard for them to tell if it was due his Mother’s home-school education or the lack of contact with other children.
So, the Human couple could only laugh when their friend said it was just Millen’s Alpha personality.
… It was merely a weird nickname for them, nothing compared to what the other pair felt towards those words…
The Werewolf man was a Lone wolf, which means, he was a wolf without a Pack. But, he naturally created his own when he found his Mate and they had their first born child.
It was the way Nature works, turning him into an Alpha, even if he was never meant to be one.
And, even though Zack behaved like a leader when his family met outsiders, it didn’t mean the man thought or truly acted as such in their private times alone, being completely different from his son.
Millen was just born for it and, from a very young age, he would try to lead his parents in unexpected moments, giving birth to his nickname, which was called once again right now…
“What happened? Did you and Cassie fight? Why can’t I hear her when her smell is all around?”
… But the person calling him with it wasn’t either his Father or Mother… His sister, Julia, was the one saying it, mocking him as she knew he didn’t like it when people called him that.
“What?! I haven’t done anything yet, and I thought you should be happy as the whole thing was a success last night.”
Surprised by the way her brother stared at her, the other Hybrid quickly defended herself, ignoring how she shouldn’t have this room’s keys in the first place…
