Chapter 5 - The Deal For Alpha

I was unable to sleep, stressing, pacing around and trying to strategize and plan for what was to come. Breakfast time I covered my neck wanting to hide Roman’s mark, I wanted to go to the family breakfast and see how Alex and Roman was behaving assess the circumstances then hopefully get a moment to talk to Roman before I talk to his father about what had happened. Everyone was already seated, Alex looked very pleased with himself while Roman did not even bother to look at me. I took my seat next to Alex as always and he leaned in to kiss my cheek. The first public display of affection he has ever displayed, with me at least. Luna Constance squealed in delight as Roman released a low growl.

“What the matter brother, Kinsley turn you down last night” he chirped with a massive grin before stuffing food in his mouth.

“Alex, please” Luna Constance waved Alex off like it was absurd to think Roman would even try. Alex stared at Roman with a very pleased smile chewing with his mouth open. I hated that I was something they could use against each other. I could feel Roman’s anger through the bond, and all I felt was shame. I kept my eyes down not wanting to make eye contact with anyone.

“Come on mother, we all know Roman has been pining after my girl here.” Alex rested his hand on mine and it took everything in me to not pull my hand away. His behavior was out of place, but Alex has never had to check himself and always been free to do as he pleases, say what he wants and hurt who he wants.

“And after last night, I’m pretty sure I ruined any chance he ever had with her” Roman slammed both his fists to the dining room table as he jumped to his feet making everyone jump and left in silence. I took the opportunity to remove my hand from Alex and quickly placed it on my chest like I was bracing my heart.

“Actually brother…” Roman started, seething with anger.

“Roman, don’t…” I softly pleaded to Roman making him shift his gaze from Alex to me. His look softened and he shook his head again. Same way he did last night before he stormed out my room. He slowly sat back down not taking his eyes off me. Alex was looking from me to Roman over and over again while his parents were silent bystanders. My face turned to that of gratitude and with the shift in expression Alex finally broke the silence.

“You actually slept with him?” he accused me in a shocked tone. My eyes grew wide as I took in a deep breath.

“You actually allowed him to f**k you” Alex shouted this time. I did not know what to say, I had no excuse.

“Kinsley…” Luna Constance called my name questioningly making me look at her now. I could feel my heart racing, my chest closing. I was panicking. The Cultivation never prepared me for anything like this.

“Yes, yes she did and after I loved on her all night, I marked her” Roman announced nonchalantly. My head shot to him, my chest tightened, my stomach turned into knots. Why, why would he announce this without talking to me.

“Kinsley…” Luna Constance cleared her throat.

“Dear, perhaps you should retreat to your room while the family discuss this” and just like that, it was made very clear I was not part of this family, just like I have been taught. If you do not follow the path set out for you, if you do not stick to your purpose you were created for you, you are out. I nodded my head and stood to my feet, Alex jumped to his feet rushing to my and pulled my top away from my neck to see Roman’s mark. I dropped my head in shame, knowing there was no point in hiding it anymore.

“Marking her was not part of the deal!” Alex shouted making me stop in my tracks before I could reach the door. I turned to look at them my brows furrowed.

“What deal?” Luna Constance asked as confused as I felt. I stood there frozen waiting for it all to make sense.

“Roman challenged me for the Alpha position.” Alex announced leaning on his fist as he faced everyone at the table, his eyes were set on me though. He was telling me.

“We agreed whoever could get you pregnant first could have you and the Alpha title. I just never thought in a million years you would actually bed my brother” he said with discuss on his face.

“And instead of fighting it out like men, you had to f**k with my investment” Alpha Constance finally spoke up. Everyone bowed their head at his anger he was displaying.

“Is this all a joke to you, is being Alpha a joke to you two, mating and pups? Just another Sunday morning, huh?” I stood there in their silence as it all starts making sense to me. Why Roman finally made a move, why Alex suddenly showed interest. It was all about being Alpha, not because they cared for me, not because they wanted to be with me. Because I was the deciding factor of who would be Alpha, not even me. Whomevers pup I bore.

“You want this to be the deciding factor, then so be it!” Alpha Constance announced. Everyone shot their head up in disbelief.

“But he already marked her!” Alex shouted in protest.

“She will stay in that room until we can tell if she is pregnant. If she is not, you will try again and again and again” the anger was dripping from his words while I stood there in disbelief.

“I marked her she is mine!” Roman roared angry at the mere suggestion of someone else touching me after he had marked me.

“You could not keep your word Roman, this will be a valuable lesson for you” Alpha Constance said making Alex smirk at Roman, like this decision was benefiting him just by hurting Roman.

“Don’t be so happy Alex!” Alpha Constance addressed him making his smile fall from his face instantly.

“DNA test will show us who the father is, and whoever was not successful in impregnating my investment will be put to death!” even I gasped at the harsh words the Alpha spoke.

“Surely there is another way” Luna Constance pleaded to her mate.

“I am sick of their childish behavior, lack of responsibly and accountability.”

“Yes, but death?” Luna Constance had a c***k in her voice, clearly not wanting to lose one of her children.

“I did not pay millions for nothing Tala, one of them will mate her and since Roman jumped the gun and marked her, the only way to unmark her is to kill Roman, unless Roman wins of course and therefor Alex would not need to mark her. This is a choice they made” I stood there frozen, Roman was staring at me. He looked scared while Alex had a smirk on his face. Roman was scared for his life while Alex welcomed the game, but no one, no one was bothered by the fact that I was to be locked up and held for breeding.
