18 In the darkest and most private corner of The Anvil pub, Kurt sat and sipped at his pint. His eyes shifted rapidly between the television above the bar and the people nearest him. He was taking a risk, being somewhere public, but he felt confident he was safe for the time being, while he considered what he was going to do next. He wished he knew what was going on at the estate he had fled only a short while before, so he knew what sort of danger, if any, he was in. Since there had been nothing on the local news, which had aired only ten minutes ago, and he had heard only one person mention the industrial estate during his time at the pub, he didn’t think he had anything to worry about, at least not for the time being. That left him free to think more fully about where he was going to
