KOUSUKE HAYATE
My name is Kousuke Hayate and today is my birthday, and I am at my legal age. I looked up at the sky. Maybe it would have been happier this day if dad and mom were here. The blue sky brings music to my steps. As my uncle said, I just need to move on with my life. I was very young when a shocking incident happened to my dad and mom.
I also feel homesick because I see other children as they are a complete family, while I am not and I only have my uncle. The blue sky, a perfect protecting dome that plays with the sunlight on these fine days, promises to be the canvas for our laughter. Laughter, when was the last time I laughed? Did I even laugh? I also do not feel it.
I glanced around.
The city air is fresh this day, almost sweet and floral as the pace of living relaxes to a steadier rhythm.
I just realized that it was the fourth Saturday of July today. Even if I have nothing ready for my birthday or this day is not so much fun for me, it was as if people were celebrating my birth.
Here in Osaka, the Kishiwada Minato Matsuri is celebrated for what they call the bay of a thousand and one lights. At the end of July, or on every fourth Saturday of the month of July, Osaka Harbor welcomes one of the largest firework displays in the city.
So I will no longer wonder why there are so many people here in the city today. Tourists scattered and looked forward to the night. Every year, this suburb of Osaka programs a huge firework display from the port complex. Almost one thousand five hundred rockets exploded in the sky to the delight of residents of the bay, but as I have heard and read in the newspaper, there will be two thousand five hundred rockets in total for this year and that was a lot.
The show takes the entire field of view with fireworks that illuminate for miles around. Over two hundred and fifty fireworks continue for ten minutes. And to close, a final bouquet created by the best pyrotechnists in the country to make you think its sunrise.
But despite the fun that surrounds me, I still can’t help but ask what it really feels like to have your family complete.
I just smiled and shook my head as I walked.
I just sighed as I looked at my path. I still have a long way to go. I also don’t know my uncle’s reason: he doesn’t want me to ride or even use a bicycle. That’s where we will celebrate my birthday. In an old house with no electricity, and only a lamp and a fireplace have to keep us warm.
The house outweighs the others because it’s made of concrete. Floor, roof, ceiling. Only one of four glass windows remains, wavy and yellow by time. I also don’t know why my uncle always takes me there for every birthday. Besides seeing the whole explosion of fireworks, I no longer know the reason.
I immediately snatched my cell phone from my pocket. This is the latest update of the God Game I played, and I need to update it immediately. I have been playing the game for a long time and the others, and not one of us has yet to open the three vaults.
In the long run, the game statistics are getting bigger and bigger.
Reason for Olympus officials to gather. We also don’t know why, but when I saw Draco Valdemort I was already skeptical. We know Draco Valdemort throughout the world for games and players. He also played the God Game, but he could not even touch one vault.
So if I am not mistaken, he is here for this game.
I immediately tapped my cell phone and went to the playplay store.
“Kousuke! Hayate!” I was immediately stunned as I walked, and my eyes immediately searched for whoever called me.
And when I found out it was Hinata, I put down my cell phone. She waved in my direction and I waved back at her. Her black hair lies long and loose, obscuring the open back of her dress, yet allowing glimpses of honeyed skin beneath. Hinata had the eyes of dove feathers, not the blond kind, but ones with a hue so softly grey that they could have been pencil drawn.
“Hinata,” I breathe. She never fails to amaze me with those smiles of hers as she slowly approaches me.
She stops in front of me and shows me her smile and hands me a packed lunch that is covered with striped red cloth. I just looked at it like a fool not knowing what to do.
“O-tanjoubi omedetou gozaimasu (happy birthday),” she said happily, and she took my hands and handed me the lunch pack.
“You don’t even have to give me this.,” I said, referring to the food.
“Don’t be, it’s your birthday, Kousuke, so that is my gift for you. You really need to consume that because I woke up early to cook it for you. Okay?” she said, and I just smiled, nodding.
She immediately took her cellphone out of her pocket and showed me the God Game logo.
“Have you seen the new God Game update today?” she asked while tapping at her phone.
I nodded and showed her my cellphone which was updating the game.
“I am updating it just now.”
“They are always updating and the money for this game is getting bigger and bigger. I hope they will update that it is easier to get at least one vault,” she said, and I couldn’t help myself not to laugh. She has been playing this game for a long time.
“Thank you so much for the food you gave Hinata, but I need to leave because maybe uncle is waiting for me and will scold me again. See you at the game later.”
She is right that the system for this game is always updated and not neglected, but why has no one opened one of the three vaults?
