ELIJAH'S POV
“What are you doing here, dressed like that!?” I screamed at her. “Have you lost your f*****g mind?” I was livid; my hands shook. I wanted to grab hold of her neck and sucking life out of her.
“Who is she? Why were you looking at her that way? Who the f**k is she?” Beverly screamed.
My eyes flicked between the deep blue and black. My wolf was trying to take control, but I held him back. I knew that if he took control, Beverly's head would be on the floor in seconds.
“Kill her! Kill her!” He screamed in my head. He wanted the blood of the one who dared to disrespect his mate.
“Calm down; I am pissed too, but we can't kill her. She is Aunt Lucy's daughter.” I screamed back at him in my head.
"Mark, get over here immediately,” I instructed him through the mind link.
“All this time, I have patiently waited for you. But you never looked my way. I am done waiting.” She started removing her bra frantically.
I was finally about to lose my mind when Mark rushed in and dragged her out.
“f**k! f**k! f**k!” I cursed. No other pack member would have dared to do what Beverly just did, but because she knew I wouldn't harm her because of her mother, she had the audacity to pull such crap. But she wasn't going to go unpunished. No one dares disrespect my mate, and he goes free.
“Mark! Lock Beverly up. She is to stay without food or water for the next three days,” I commanded.
"Yes, Alpha,” he replied with respect.
I slumped back into my chair, unsure of how to remedy the situation. “Damn it! I was already making progress with Elsa, and now we are back to zero.” I felt my anger rising. I wanted Beverly's head. If she were anyone else, I would have torn them to pieces.
Deciding that sitting here wouldn't solve anything, I went to the room to check on Elsa.
Hearing her sob from the other side of the door broke my heart. “I did this! I hurt her.”
“I am sorry about what just happened. I swear, I have nothing to do with her. You are my mate, and you are the only one I want. Please forgive me.” But she said nothing and kept crying.
I tried to open the door, but it was locked. Breaking it down would be a piece of cake for me, but I didn't; I wanted to respect her privacy.
“Go away; I don't want to see you. You are no different from the rest.” She yelled, her voice trembling.
And then I felt it: “demon” was coming; I had to leave here now.
“I am sorry.” I turned and left, unsure of how to make everything right again, but knowing fully well the destruction demon came along with, I knew leaving was the right thing for now.
"Mia,” I called out to her through the mindlink.
“Yes alpha”
“Take care of my mate. I will be gone for a while.”
“Okay, alpha.”
“You hurt her! That's all you are capable of. You couldn't save my first mate, and now you are hurting my second chance mate. You do not deserve anything but pain.” The angry voice in my head yelled.
“I knew you would come, demon; you never missed a chance to take me to hell.” I groaned.
I headed directly to the one place that housed all my pain and secrets.
I mind linked Mark, “Meet me in the underground room.” He said nothing in reply, but I could already tell he wasn't pleased.
“Why are we here? We haven't been here for the longest time. You don't need to do this! Don't listen to that voice.”
"Mark, you know what needs to be done. You know what happens if I don't silence the voice.”
“But you have a mate now; you don't need to do this anymore.”
I clutched my head in pain as the voice grew.
"Mark, there is no time for this; I will lose control soon. Do it now!” I used my alpha command on him, forcing him to obey.
He chained me and brought out the silver to inject me with. A pained expression on his face.
“No! No! Don't do it. Don't!” My wolf yelled at me. “Why are you listening to that voice? Please, please. He pleaded, but I wasn't listening. Mark injected the silver, and my wolf screamed out in pain before we lost connection. I wilted and dropped to the floor in pain.
ELSA'S POV
After a while, I noticed he wasn't at the door. I opened it and peeked outside, and he was gone.
I stayed in the room, unsure of what to do. I didn't know anyone here, so there was no one to talk to. I heard a knock at the room door, and Mia came in.
“How are you doing?” She smiled at me, like we were good friends. I was skeptical of how nice she was to me. No one is ever nice without wanting something in return.
“Why are you so nice to me?” I asked her instead of answering her question.
She laughed at how serious I was. "Girl, you must have met a lot of shitty people in your life before now. But trust me, not everyone is like that.” She said in between laughs. “I don't need a reason to be nice to you. I am nice to you because that's the right way to live.
Now come on, let's go outside, so I can show you around, and then you can come with me to the clinic. Let's go.” She turned and started walking towards the door, not giving me a chance to reject the offer, and I did want to look around the pack. I got up and rushed after her.
“You don't need to be nervous; everyone will be nice to you, and even if they aren't, do not mind them, okay?” She held my hand when she noticed that I was hesitating at the front door.
Going outside felt nice; the feel of the air on my skin felt superb. The park was really beautiful. The rumors we heard outside about how they were ruthless and dangerous seemed to be far from the truth. They made them out to be barbarians and made it seem like you wouldn't see happy, smiling people here.
But on the contrary, there were children playing around and women sitting or working; some men and women were training. It was peaceful and calm, and everyone looked happy.
“Why do you look so surprised?” Mai asked me, noticing the look on my face.
“Everyone believes that no one in this pack is normal. The story outside here is that you all are a bunch of barbarians and merciless killers.”
Mia laughed so hard she was almost rolling on the floor. “Oh my God, this is very funny. You know, I heard from my friend, who was one of the patrols that caught you, that you almost peed your pants when you heard that this was the blood moon pack. I thought they were exaggerating a bit, but I know now that it is true.”
I felt embarrassed by how she was laughing, but I wasn't angry. Mia was good company, and for someone who was clearly older than me, she didn't mind us talking casually like friends.
Her facial expression suddenly changed. She had a distant look on her face, like she was thinking about something. I looked at her, wondering what suddenly went wrong.
“You know things weren't always like that. We used to be very welcoming to outsiders and other packs around us, but a lot of things changed when our former Luna died. Our Alpha, Elijah, almost lost himself, but he had to stay strong for the pack. He did his best to keep us safe, and that was how we got the reputation you now talk about, and sincerely, we are happy leaving the outsiders thinking whatever they want, because it ensures they know what we are capable of and fear us.” She sighed sorrowfully.
I could see the pain in her eyes. I knew that it was so much more than the Alpha was letting on this morning when he told me that he lost his mate to rogues. I was eager to know what happened.
“How did it happen? And what happened to the Alpha after she died? I asked, unable to contain my curiosity.
She turned sharply and looked at me. “Oh my,” she said, clasping her mouth with her palm. “I must have gotten lost in the moment and rambled on. Do not bring this up in front of the alpha. I am sure he will tell you when the time is right. Okay?” She warned me seriously.
"Okay,” I replied.
“Now come on, let's look around some more.” She went back to the bubbly Mia.
She dragged me around until I was too tired to walk. The pack was truly beautiful. They even have a love garden, and when we got here, we saw some newly mated couples there having fun.
Alpha Elijah was truly a great alpha. He may be a ruthless man, but he sure did love his pack.
At the thought of him, I suddenly felt bad for how I treated him this morning. He obviously knew nothing about that girl's shameless act.
“Hey, hey, down to earth, Mia,” she snapped her fingers in my face to draw my attention.
“Were you thinking about your mate?” She gave me a sly smile, causing me to blush.
“How did you know?” I asked shyly.
“I could tell from the dreamy look on your face.” She teased even more.
“I heard what happened this morning, and I know he should have taken caution for such not to happen, but you should forgive him. He has nothing to do with Beverly; she has been the one throwing herself at him all these years. Our Alpha is anything but a womanizer. Trust me on that.” I could sense the sincerity in her voice and how much love she had for her alpha.
“Ahhhhhh” I screamed out in pain when I felt my insides burning, and just as the pain came, it was suddenly gone.
“What's wrong?” Mia asked, scrutinizing me to find my source of pain.
“Where is the Alpha?” I asked instead of replying to her question.
