Chapter4

DAMIAN’s POV “What should I do? What the f**k do I do? I am so confused. Earlier today, I had a dream, and my mom was telling me not to reject Elsa. I really don't know what to make of that. What do you think I should do?” “You saw the Luna in your dream?” My best friend and soon-to-be beta, Josh, asked. We have been friends even before we learned how to talk. He has been my friend and confidant, and he will also be my beta. I nodded my head. “Why is everyone against me rejecting Elsa? The Alpha, too, doesn't like the fact that she is my mate, but he still doesn't think it's okay for me to reject her. "My wolf is giving me constant migraines from talking constantly about Elsa and why I shouldn't reject her." I said, rubbing my forehead as though it would stop the pain. “So tell me, what do you think?” I asked him. “Damian, why do you really want to reject her? Is it because of my sister? My sister hasn't found her mate yet. You can never tell if she will leave him for you when she finds him.” “Elsa isn't a bad person; she is kind, so she will make a good Luna.” He told me while putting his hand on my shoulder. “f**k!” Turning around, I punched the wall. “But she doesn't have a wolf, and she is weak. Other packs will see her as my weakness. And what if she gives birth to pups that don't have their wolf sides too?” Just the thought of it made my blood boil. “She is your mate; you should love her beyond all that. If I find my mate, I will love her irrespective of any defects she might have. The moon goddess gave her to me for a reason.” Josh said to me, I sat down on the bench, my head in my hands. I was exhausted by all this. What Eve told me earlier today crossed my mind, and I immediately knew what to do. “No! I am going to reject her. I can't be with her. I am going to do it now.” He said, looking determined. “Damian, are you sure about this? You should think this through.” My best friend told me, but my mind was made up. “I have made my decision; go and bring her here.” He left, and after a couple of minutes, he returned with Elsa. She came along with her bags as though she knew what was about to happen. I felt a little disappointed that she wasn't holding on to me, but instead, she was ready to leave. Her eyes were puffy from crying, but she looked determined not to cry or beg me. “I won't waste our time; I will just cut to the chase.” “I, Damian Johnson, reject Elsa as my mate and Luna.” Immediately after I said it, I felt an unbearable pain in my chest; it brought me to my knees as I clutched onto my chest. Looking at where Elsa was, I saw her lying on the ground, crying out in pain. She was never strong, and the pain was definitely worse for her. A few minutes passed with her just lying down there and wilting in pain until I heard her voice. “I, Elsa, accept your rejection, Damain Johnson.” After that, the pain subsided a bit, and with all her strength, she picked up her small backpack and got up. I ordered three warriors to escort her out of the pack. Immediately after she left, Eve came in and jumped on me. She must have eavesdropped the whole time. “Thank you, baby,” she said. “Are you okay?” She asked. I only nodded, needing to be left alone but knowing better than to say it. My wolf has gone silent in my head. I thought I would feel relief after the rejection, but I only felt empty. But looking at Eve, I knew I had done the right thing. ELSA POV I walked outside with my bag, unsure of what the future held, but I was only certain of one thing. I would rather die somewhere else than continue to live such a life in this pack. I could see their judgmental stares at me. Many of them never bullied me personally, but none of them spoke up when others did. They only laughed at me and made fun of me. After Domain rejected me, the pain was unbearable. I felt like I was going to die, but just like every other near-death experience I have had, I survived it. One time, a group of boys beat me up and took turns throwing me into the river and forcing me to stay inside, even though they knew I couldn't swim. When I lost consciousness, they would resuscitate me and continue again. The three guys escorting me to the border were part of the group that did that to me. I was so lost in thought until I noticed the guys trying to grab me. I made to run, but they held me, pinned me to the ground, and started trying to remove my clothes. “You better keep calm; I know you want this." One of them said, and the others laughed. “Please, please don't do this." I pleaded with them, but they paid no heed, and just as they tried to start fondling me, I saw red and everything blurred. I came out of my daze and realised they were all lying dead next to me. Unable to understand what had just happened but deciding not to wait to find out, I picked up my bag and ran for my dear life. When I got to the unclaimed lands, I looked around for a place to stay and found a little cave. After making sure that no wild animals lived inside, I dropped my bags and went out to hunt for something to eat. After trying for hours with no results, I sat down tired, and the weirdest thing happened. “Elsa...” a voice called out to me. Alarmed, I turned around but saw no one. “Elsa, look down,” the voice said, making me look down only to see a rabbit. I jumped up in fear. Rabbits don't talk. “What are you?” It laughed and replied, “I am a rabbit, as you can see.” “But how can you talk?” I asked, taking a few steps back. “I can't talk, but you can speak to animals. Not all, but some. You have a connection to them.” “Come on. I will show you where you can get food.” Although scared, I followed her. She showed me a field filled with different fruits and a place to stay. I spent my days with her. Sometimes she comes along with other rabbits or birds. The only time I remember my sad, lonely life was at night when I was alone. I cried myself to sleep every day. “Is this how I will spend the rest of my life? Talking and living with rabbits and animals in the forest.” Life is so unfair to me that I cried. “Do not despair, child of destiny; remember, when you feel you have to come to a dead end, a miracle will happen for you, my daughter.” The woman in the white dress said this to me when she saw me crying. She was the same woman who saved me from the rogues in my last dream. “When will that be? I am not a child of destiny. I am only a werewolf who has no one and no wolf.” "Soon, my child, soon.” She echoed and disappeared. I woke up from the dream. “I must have cried myself to sleep,” I thought to myself. It felt so real, not like a dream. I decided to go for a walk before I went to see the rabbits. I left the cave, and after admiring nature for a while, I decided to go back. I heard some movement in the trees, turned around, but saw no one. I felt a little unrest. I looked around to be sure but saw nothing. I turned around and continued down the trail, and suddenly I heard the sound of strong paws hitting the earth. The sound is coming in my direction. I turned around and saw some rogues appear from nowhere, spit dropping from their brown teeth. My heart was beating rapidly in my chest, and I was trembling in fear. I took cautious steps backward, watching their reaction and looking for an escape route. Without giving me any chance, they gave chase. I turned around and started running with all my might. It wasn't long before they caught up to me, and just as one of them was about to take a chunk of my flesh, the woman I saw in my dream appeared. With one flick of her hand, all the wolves fell on their backs. "Hurry, child, run straight ahead, and you will find refuge.” I was too surprised to move. But she hurried me along. "Hurry, child, they will be up in no time.” I took to my hills again, and when I turned around, she was gone like she was never there. I kept running until I felt my surroundings change. I could feel the presence of other wolves here. I looked around in horror as I had just crossed into pack land! I turned around in fear, ready to dash back, but I was tackled to the ground by wolves I suspected to be border patrol. “Who are you?” The slim one asked after they turned to their human side. “I didn't mean to trespass; I was being chased by rogues and didn't know when I crossed the border, please.” I pleaded with them. “We will let the Alpha decide her faith.” The biggest guy among them said. It seemed he had the highest position because they all immediately bowed to him. They dragged me to the cell and locked me there. Curious, I asked the guard standing there, “Which pack is this?” Without even turning around, he replied, “The blood moon pack.” Shocked, I shouted, “Alpha Stone’s pack?” “Yes.” He replied curtly. ‘Dammit, as if my life wasn't miserable enough already.” I said, making him turn around and glance at me. With tears in my eyes, I lamented in my head. “This must truly be my end. The Blood Moon Pack is known to be the cruelest pack, and they are known to kill anyone who trespasses onto their land. The moon goddess must really hate me, giving me no parents, no wolf, my pack hated me, my mate rejected me, and now this. The tears rolled down freely. Maybe this is for the best; I should just die instead of living such a pathetic life. My thoughts were brought to an end when I heard a deep voice. “Mate!!!” He growled. I turned around to see what was going on.
