Misunderstanding

"May I come in?", she took permission. "Yes", a deep voice answered from behind the door giving her permission to walk in. The hallway was quiet, the loud gulp which Sana took nervously was even visible to her ears. The only person standing in the entire hallway was Sana right before a huge black glass door. Collecting all the confidence in her, she placed her hand on the door handle and slowly pushed it a little in the cabin. As she entered the room, there was no one in except for a man sitting on the chair. But she couldn't see him as he sat there facing backward to her. Sana walked reluctantly on the marble floor and stood before the desk. Her folder of resume and agreement paper was pressed tight to her chest, she was too scared. "Good morning sir, myself Sana. I'm the stepdaughter of Jonas's and they sent me here as your Secretary. I'll do my best sir! Thank you for appointing me from the rest. I respect your decision and never let you down!", Sana spoke up these words too fast as if she has prepared for a viva and learned everything word to word. Sana pressed her lips making a thin line as she ended up and waited for his new boss to answer her. But the man sitting before her didn't speak a word, neither he moved a little. A minute passed, but no reply from him. Sana crooked her eyebrows in bewilderment, she was confused about why wasn't he answering her back. "Did I messed up even before working? Does his silence means he doesn't need me and I need to go?", an uneasy thought full of anxiety crossed her overthinking mind. "What if he tells me to get out?", her eyes widened as her mind kept up messing. "What if mother and father learn about it? They won't take me back-" "When did this boy come over her- Who is she?", an old man asked as he entered the room. Sana quickly glanced back at him, the man was quite surprised to see an unknown lady standing before him. "Miss? Who are you?", the old man inquired. "Can I know what are you doing in my cabin?", he asked. He looked puzzled. "His cabin? Is he my boss? Then who is the one sitting there on the chair?", Sana thought. Her eyebrows met in turmoil. Sana glanced back in bewilderment over the man sitting facing backward on the chair. "Sir, I guess she is that new girl. Mr. Claire informed me that she will be here today", a lady standing beside the old man spoke up. "Are you daughter of Jonas's?", the old man interrogated as Sana nodded her head. She was yet confused about what was going on. The old man sighed and nodded too as he looked at Sana from head to toe. Sana doesn't have any better clothes to wear so she ended up wearing jeans and a designer shirt which wasn't casual as other employees she has watched working in the company. She looked more coming to a club than office, and what can be expected more from a university student? She has never worked or been to such companies in the city before. "Miss. Mina will guide you. Take this girl with you Mina", the old man instructed the girl standing beside him, Miss. Mina. The old man looked disappointed and rolled up his eyes before walking towards the man sitting on the chair. The girl bowed to him in respect before grabbing the hands of Sana and dragging her out of the cabin. "Let's go!", she smiled widely while dragging Sana out. "How many times should I tell you to not come to my company without informing me? This isn't your home or garden to wander around whenever you wish for!", the voice of the old man came out of the cabin before the doors closed. The voice stopped as Sana came far away from the cabin. The old man was probably lashing out over the man sitting on the chair. "But who was he?", Sana thought in her mind. She was perplexed. Mina brought her in the lift and turned her face to Sana. "Miss. Jonas, right?", Mina asked. She was smiling at Sana as if she was too happy to meet her. "Nice to meet you! I'm Mina!", said Mina heartily as she extended her arm to shake hands. "Nice to meet you too!", Sana shook hands with her and was as happy as the girl standing before her. "Was he our Boss?", Sana added in puzzlement as she asked about the old man. "Ohh! Yes, he is Mr. Brown, our chairman", Mina giggled. "Well, why did you want to do this job so badly?", she inquired. "I needed it? badly?", Sana raised a question in bewilderment. "Yes! Your father said that you are even ready to quit your studies. He said that you will run away from home if they don't find a job for you in the city", she laughed awkwardly as she continued to speak. "I mean, this isn't a good thing, right? Your parents love you so much but you were about to run away from your home. You must have at least complete your studies. How can you get a good job with no qualifications?", Mina tucked her eyebrows and stared at Sana for an answer. The things that Mina heard were totally opposite from reality. She wasn't ready for the job, neither she was about to run away or quit her studies. It's what her family said her to do and she did for them. "Who- who told you this?", Sana asked in puzzlement. "Is he-", Sana suspected it to be his father but before she could ask her, Mina cut off her mid-sentence. "Look, I know children of your age get hyper too easily but it doesn't mean you will run off from reality", Mina started. "What's wrong is wrong and it's okay now if you quit the studies. Work hard here, coz a job for an intern like you in this company won't be as easy as other employees. If you want money with no qualifications, you need to work harder than others". Sana nodded. She doesn't have any words left in return to speak. They were thinking of her in a way which she isn't. They were thinking of her as a spoiled child when she wasn't. In a few moments, they reach the floor Sana must begin to work from. It was a cafeteria area of the building. And yes, she wasn't getting the job of Secretary in that company but something else. Never in her dream, Sana thought she would do the work that she was about to. The way Mina took her into the cafeteria and stopped by the cleaners room, Sana understood that she was appointed as a cleaner of the cafeteria. "We will be starting from the cafeteria, make sure you keep it clean. Not just the floor, tables, and windows but also the kitchen and everything in it. No plates or glasses must break. It's your responsibility to clean everything here without messing up anything", Mina explained to her the work. Meanwhile, Sana's heart clenched as she realized she was being appointed here as an intern for cleaning. If she had completed her job then she might have become manager but no, she became a cleaner. "Is everything clear to you?", Mina questioned. "Any doubts or questions?". "Di- did my father told you to appoint me for thi- this job?", Sana interrogated curiously. "He said that you are okay with any job. And we can't keep you for anything in this company before looking over your resume. So we are starting from here, later you can be promoted for a better position too", Mina explained to the puzzled Sana. "Why? Aren't you happy to be employed in our company?", Mina asked as she laughed awkwardly. "You are lucky you at least found a job in this busy city". "I- I didn't mean that", Sana lied. "Take a look over this, this is my resume. In case if you change your mind", Sana laughed awkwardly too as she handed over the resume to Mina except for the agreement papers. She kept those papers with herself as she wants to read the agreement which she didn't read before signing the agreement. • • • Meanwhile, a few moments ago in the chairman's cabin right after Mina left with Sana. "How many times should I tell you to not come to my company without informing me? This isn't your home or garden to wander around whenever you wish for!", Mr. Brown lashed out over the man sitting on the chair as he stood before him. "Do you think that I'll give you any best job in my company because you are my son? Hahaha! No dear Son, I won't. Go, prove to me that you are capable to be the preside-" "Come on Dad! Why are you being so dramatic whenever I come here? Can't I come to this company? It's of my dad's!", the man sitting on the chair whined. "No! Learn the difference between walking into a home and working place.  A spoiled kid like you becomes a golden gossip in this company whenever you walk in", Mr. Chairman walked towards the couch and sat on it tiredly. "It's your fault! Your workers must learn the difference between coming into a working place and going to a club or home. You need to be worrying more for that than me so that they won't even dare to talk behind you and your family", the boy said as he stood up from the chair and put his glasses on his eyes. "Better you walk out of my Cabin before I lose my patience, Richard!", Mr. Chairman yelled over his son, Richard, again.
