{Brooke}
"Um, hello, do you know where the Director's office is?" I say politely to a nurse, hoping she won't gawk at the patch on my forehead. I patched myself up in the bathroom.
Thankfully she doesn't bother to look at me and replies, "Actually, the other directors will be meeting up with you today."
"But, aren't I suppose to meet up with the director of the Medical Department?"
"Listen, there are four directors. Mr. White, Mr. Reed, and Mr. Reed. They are the big bosses, the Reeds are in charge of financial and business matters of the hospital. You'll be meeting with them."
A shiver racked through my spine at the sound of the last name Reed. I shook my head and snapped out of it. "Ok...where are their offices?"
"Office. They share an office. It's a twin thing but it's in E wing, 5th floor."
Twins. Twin bosses, I hope I'll be able to know who's who. "Thanks!"
I scurry away and up the stair, the elevator was cramped. Surprisingly, no one else inhabits E wing. Wow, they have a whole wing to themselves. Based on the huge door at the end of the hallway, I knew it was the office. Directors always have huge doors to accompany their offices.
I tapped lightly at the door but when no one responded I knocked lightly. "Come in," two-deep strained voices sounded like music to my ears.
I shuffled in quietly like I was a tiny mouse. I didn't look at their faces but instead gripped tightly at the crumpled papers I held. "I'm Brooke Rivers and I'm here to report to my first day of work," I say confidently.
"There's no need anymore Ms. Rivers. We are no longer in need of your help here at this hospital," a voice to my right spoke up.
My head perked up. "Excuse me?"
"As you've heard Ms. Rivers, you are no longer need here," I stared into the eyes of Mr. Reed on my left. I recognized those eyes instantly. They were the same grey ones that I stared into earlier.
My cheeks puffed up. "I beg to disagree. Your hospital reports indicate that you are in desperate need of a pediatrician."
Mr. Reed on my right spoke coldly, "Well your reports are wrong now leave."
I stood strongly now, I whipped my dark hair to the front. Their hands immediately gripped the desks tightly. I gave them a curious look. "Ahem. I know you two aren't the only Directors here so I'll leave but only to speak with Mr. White."
"Mr. White is too busy to be bothered now. So leave and find another Hospital to work at." Mr. Reed on my left said gruffly.
I smiled at them. "Although New York was a tempting offer I couldn't leave this place."
"Then you'll be disappointed to now that you'll have no choice but to go to New York," Mr. Reed on my right responded cooly like it was the world's most normal thing to fire a person before getting to know them.
A loud knock was heard and another man walked in. Now he was quite ravishing but not as much as the twins. His golden locks fell perfectly in front of his eyes so he had to rake his hands through them every once in a while. No doubt that he probably had half the hospital in love with him.
"Marco, where's that pediatrician you were talking about?" the man said.
I smiled brightly. "That would be me. I'm assuming you are Mr. White?"
"Yep, the one and only," he extended his hand and I shook it. "So, when do you start?"
I sighed. "Unfortunately, I've been told my services are no longer needed so I'll be on my way now," I tilt my head to the side and spin on my heel. I walk out and start counting. 1, 2, 3, 4, 5...
"Are you crazy?" Mr. White hissed. "Miss, please come back. I do apologize for the behavior of these men."
I hum in response and turn back to them. "Honestly, I don't even know if this hospital is safe enough. The patch on my forehead can explain itself."
Mr. White frowns. "What happened?"
"Oh, I was assaulted by a man. I'm sure Mr. Reed could explain," I point to the twin to my right. Mr. White raises his eyebrows but says nothing.
"Um, would you mind telling me your name?" Mr. White asks.
"Brooke. Brooke Rivers. May I know yous?"
"Xander White. Always a pleasure," he bows down and I flush, embarrassed. "The twin to our right is Marco and the twin to your left is Marcus."
"Marco and Marcus," I echo, tasting their names on my tongue.
"Your resume says that you're 25 years old..We'll get along well, I'm 27," Xander smiles and I haven't realized until now that he had the papers I brought in, in his hands.
"Any medical problems," Marco speaks up rather coldly. I feel myself go pale. No one that suffers amnesia can really get a job such as being a doctor.
"No...Not at all," I hope my voice doesn't sound strained but my thoughts have confirmed when Marcus gives me a suspicious look.
"Ok, Brooke. I can't really show you around now but one of the twins can show you around. Right?" Xander's tone sounds a bit more casual.
"Fine," Marco muttered and returned to his work.
"Like now would be ok Marco," Xander huffs. It's clear that the three are like peas in a pod. Marco rolls his eyes and stands up, that's when his height really made a difference. I've been told that before I was induced in a coma that I was tall with icy blue eyes. But now my eyes are dull, my hair black, and short.
Xander leaves and I begin walking out- Marco practically stomping behind me. "Mr. Reed, is there a problem?"
"None at all. But I realize how inconvenient this is," he breathes and glares at me. What's got his panties in a twist?
"Inconvenient how?"
"That's my business, Mrs. Rivers"
"Actually, it's Ms. Rivers. I'm not married yet," I roll my eyes and we enter the elevator. Something flashed in his eyes before he bent down to hit button number one. "First floor? Isn't that the psychology department?"
He smirks but it shows no warmth. "Don't be such a know-it-all. The ER is on the first floor."
"And?" I felt embarrassed that I wasn't catching on to what he was saying.
"As a pediatrician, you also have the responsibility of tending to Pediatric ER," he mutters and the elevator door opens.
The room was not as busy as expected but still, it was a proactive room. He turns away from me to talk to another woman holding a clipboard. I shrugged and started to scourge the area with my eyes. There was one little boy huddled in the corner. Being the worried person I am I approached him.
"Hi, little guy," I say soothingly but he still had his head bent down so I couldn't see his face.
"H-hello" his body trembled slightly and I felt sympathy for him.
"What are you doing here?"
"Daddy said to put a bomb and Alphas go boom," he stopped trembling and I froze.
"Excuse me?"
"You heard me, Alphas die," he's smiling by the time he raises his head. The only thing I see is his glowing red eyes.
