Oxygen reinhabited my lungs as the inhaler was shoved into my mouth and three puffs were let out. I opened my eyes and found both Marco and Marcus kneeling beside me. I sat up immediately because I didn't want to make more of a scene.
Marco stood up and he gave me a distant look. "Miss Rivers, how come you've never told us you have asthma?"
"It's in my resume under any health concerns you should know. I thought you, Mr. Reed, would've read it already," I say and straighten my blouse before also lifting myself upright.
Marco clenched his jaw but looked away towards Alaina who had her arms folded over her chest. "Um, I still haven't finished talking to my bosses yet," she shot me a warning glance. I smiled warmly which only seemed to irritate her even more. I wanted to claw at her and throw her out the window so she gets the idea that the twins were my...bosses? A foreign word seemed to drift around in my mind but I couldn't grasp it.
"That's okay. I just need to ask them something real quick," I forced a smiled and look over at my bosses. "Since Xander isn't here I have to ask the two of you if I could have the rest of the day off."
"Already on first-name basis?" Marcus annoyingly commented.
"Yes, he's caring and actually considerate. Now, yes or no?"
"No," Marco said his eyes a pitch black. I frowned in confusion but he continued, "We need our only pediatrician here, in case of an emergency."
"But I need to!" I blurted and they raised their eyebrows at me. I coughed and retracted a bit. "I need to meet up with my doctor."
"Why?" Marcus raked a hand through his hair and my eyes followed it hungrily.
I snapped myself back into reality. "That is private and personal information, Mr. Reed."
"As our employee and we as your bosses, we have a right to know," Marcus persuaded but stopped when I flinched a bit. I was just an employee. Somehow that stung. I didn't dwell on it, after meeting with Lydia she'll give me the right antibiotics and I'll be back to normal.
"Part of the contract says: Employee has the right to keep personal information private," I snapped and it surprised them. "May I go?"
"No-" Marco started again but the whiny voice interrupted.
"You're forgetting that I am here and I am perfectly capable of doing whatever she can," Alaina said a bit too confidently. I shook my head at her, boasting will get her nowhere
"We haven't signed any sort of contract with you Miss Vanderhook," Marco emphasized his sentence ever so boldly.
I took my leave as the three of them began blabbering at each other. I phoned Lydia as soon as I got into my car.
"Hello?" her voice came through a bit staticky. My phone was really old, the best 200 bucks can pay I guess.
"Yeah, Lydia?"
"Oh, hi, Brooke!" I wished my voice held the same cheerfulness. I was a dull person, never happy or bright. I had dull eyes, hair, and a dull expression. Not to mention that I was really thin, I could pass as a stick any day.
"Is it okay if I drop by your office now?"
"You can't now. Sorry honey but I'm currently on a plane. You know, heading over to my mother's for a week"
I started my car and started to drive. "s**t. Right, sorry. Could you do a phone checkup at least?"
"Sure sweetie, what's wrong?"
"Well, I have gotten this weird painful feeling on my heart. It felt like an anchor weighing it down so I had an asthma attack twice today. I've been hallucinating about a boy with glowing red eyes and the lights flickering. Honestly, none of this happened until I came to work at his hospital," I huffed and my breath created white puffs in the air. It was a cold September Canada night.
I listened as Lydia hesitated before whispering, "Have you felt a certain attraction with anyone around you?"
I choked on my saliva and was about to hit the brakes. "Maybe...why?" I mumbled.
She laughed. "Honey, don't worry about it! I've been through this before. You haven't been sexually active lately, right?"
I gulped. "No...what are you-"
"Your body craves that certain person because as teens say 'crave a d**k' "
"Wait, what!? So you saying I'm horny for my bosses!?" I shriek into the phone and my grip on the steering wheel tightens.
"Bosses? As there is more than one?" Lydia teased.
"Lydia! I didn't think this would have to do with my non-active s****l life..." I groaned. "And to think I was hoping for an antibiotic to help me," I mutter.
Lydia burst into fits of laughter. "Now, Brooke, there are two paths. One, you get some s****l activity or two, just continue normally."
"I'll take solution number two. Anything that doesn't involve a dick."
"Well, Brooke, I have to hang up because we are experiencing a bit of turbulence."
"Okay, Lydia, take care," I sighed and hung up. I prepared myself to make a U-turn to head to my apartment but a huge brown wolf made its way in my path.
My eyes widened and I slammed on the brakes. My car jolted upwards and my body flung forwards causing me to slam my head against the steering wheel. The only thing that prevented me from crashing into the window was my seatbelt that tightened on my waist like a snake, knocking the air out of me.
I groaned and sagged onto the steering wheel. No blood but bruised. Black dots clouded my vision and I slowly slipped away.

"Isabella!" a tall, slim woman ran up to me happily. Her long red wavy hair flying behind her. She grinned at me and picked me up, swinging me around. I laughed happily as another woman came up.
"My little girl. How you've grown!" she exclaimed and caressed my red hair.
A man soon came into view. He was tall and lean but his features were slightly wary. "Princess, you're a big girl now but no matter what dad is always here for you."
"Dad?" my voice came out like a question. "Mom?" I stared at the other girl who smiled down on me.
"I'm Victoria, silly!" she laughed.
"Victoria, stop teasing our little sister," another guy came into view. He was a striking resemblance to the man who was my dad. He grinned mischievously and cracked his knuckles. "That's my job."
"Liam, I'm the older sibling. It's my right to tease both of you," Jenna scowled but that only made her look even prettier.
"Who am I?" I asked, which caused Liam and Victoria to stop bickering.
"You're ******** our little sister!" Victoria exclaimed but I couldn't hear what she said in the beginning.
"I'm who?" I said frantically. My mom and dad noticed this and nodded at my siblings.
Victoria and Liam took hold of my hand. "We're looking for you. Remember. Remember who you were. I'll be searching far and wide until you're back home," Victoria's voice broke but she released my hand and began to walk away with Liam. I watched until they disappeared.
"Wait!" I called out desperately. "Wait!"
"Babycakes, it's okay. Everything will be okay," my mom reassured me. Her voice was so soothing and relaxing.
"Princess, we'll be taking care of you even if we're not on earth. We'll always be there for you," my dad cupped my cheeks and took steps back slowly.

I woke up with a jolt and looked around. The wolf was gone but my "dream" still lingered in my mind. I then realized that my phone was ringing.
"Hello?" I answered. My voice was a bit husky.
"Were you sleeping, Miss Rivers," Marco's voice was a bit strained.
I hesitated. "Not exactly..."
An awkward silence filled the air until he spoke again. "Miss Rivers, are you ready for the trip?"
"What trip?"
I could practically feel him smirking from the other side. "Oh, Miss Rivers, if you hadn't run out earlier then I would've told you."
"What. Is. It." I said, growing agitated.
"We have a business trip to NY where we have to attend a Gala to promote our hospital. And our plane leaves in 15 minutes at the airport. I hope you've packed your bags"
"Why you f-" I started to yell.
"Miss Rivers, you need to remember that I'm still your boss and as such I demand respect," his voice sounded husky and I felt my knees wobble at that. I hung up angrily. Great, splendid. Absolutely f*****g perfect.
