Closer at hand were tables buckling with food—fried chicken, coleslaw, baked beans, pulled pork barbecue, mac and cheese…Vic’s stomach growled at the dishes spread out buffet-style. Matt and Roxie were already seated, eating from overflowing plates. When Matt saw Vic, he half-raised a hand in greeting. Roxie noticed, though, and stuck out her hand to cover his eyes. “No looking!” she cried. Beside him, Kendra laughed. “Yeah, probably you too.” “You know we drove up together,” Vic pointed out. “And spent all morning together. And shared a bed last night.” “Yeah, yeah.” She guided him to the end of the table, where empty plates waited to be filled. “I think it’s supposed to be bad luck for the groom to specifically see the bride in her wedding dress before the ceremony, so it doesn’t even
