Chapter 14 || Flashbacks

1816 Words
Jaemin sighed when he finally sat down at the edge of the bed while looking at Florence who finally fell asleep. She struggled to sleep. Each time she tried, it looked like she was having flashbacks. It would start with her trembling and then hysterically crying. It hurt Jaemin to see her like that. Especially knowing that Florence doesn’t really show him the side of her being in pain or upset. This was again something new to him. Something new he had to get used to and learn. Their relationship was almost like an everyday learning. There was always something that was new to the both of them and always something new they would learn about each other. Florence didn’t like chocolates but she would eat dozens of them if she was on her period. She would always tell him that it was like a disgusting pleasure thing which Jaemin never understood. That was the part that confused him about her. He giggled softly thinking about the confused cute face when Florence said that he didn’t get a thing she just tried to explain him. She was disappointed surely and she wanted to explain it again but she was tired at the same time. Florence swiftly moved a bit and sighed while she continued sleeping. Jaemin just stared at her. She was cute when she was sleeping. He probably had a hundred pictures of her being asleep. He just found it too adorable and at times when he missed her, he caught himself looking back at them. He didn’t know that love could be this beautiful too and so painless. He wished he had met her before so they could have both been free of the pain they had to go through but at the same time he was grateful to be with her now. A love that didn’t hurt either of them but actually helped healing. It was the most beautiful thing he had experienced in his existence of life. He knew it sounded cliché but it was the truth. Normally he would have felt uncomfortable by the thought or saying of it but, now. Florence changed everything for him. He was someone so different. He could barely recognise himself. He was glad that he was this new person. Florence made him feel more alive. Like he had achieved something and had something to look forward too. Florence again mumbled something in her sleep. She looked restless even while she was sleeping. Jaemin couldn't figure out whether she was having a bad dream or was just uncomfortable laying down. He tried to understand it but then again failed at it. He held her hand, hoping that his touch could make her feel a sense of relief or comfort and luckily, it did. Florence cosied up towards him and held onto him tightly. It was almost like she knew who and what he was doing. Jaemin smiled for the hundredth of time and just admired everything about her. He heard someone knock softly on the door and he quickly and carefully let go of Florence before the person would knock again and wake her up. Jaemin opened the door to his father and quickly stepped out without making a noise that could wake her up. Jaemin's father had quick glimpse of Florence sleeping and understood immediately why he was acting so weirdly. "Yes dad?" Jaemin asked as he looked at him. He looked a bit worried and Jaemin couldn't make it out whether it was something that was concerning him or if he was worried about him or Florence. "I just wanted to check up on the both of you but it looked like she was already sleeping." His father said before giving him a warming smile. Jaemin nodded as he sighed. "It was hard though. I think she will struggle for a time..." He said a bit worried. He didn't wanted her to feel unsafe constantly and she would probably feel like that since majority of the time Jaemin couldn't be with her. "I know but it looks like you are both making each other feel better. She still fell asleep." He said. His father looked tired. "Appa." Jaemin said as he looked at him. "You are tired... You should go to sleep." Jaemin said and he immediately shook his head. "I let my guard down. Florence got hurt and this could have simply happened to your mother too. We made enemies. They would never be safe again. Now that one has tried it and succeeded. I am sure more will come." Jaemin's father said. "With that thought lingering around in my mind. I just can't fall asleep." He sighed out while he looked down at his feet. Jaemin frowned and breathed out before giving his father a hug. "It is not our fault and we can increase the security guards to prevent this from happening again." Jaemin insisted. Jaemin's father nodded. "We will have a meeting tomorrow with the security team and with the ones that were supposed to be on duty. I won't fire them. But they will be warned. I will put security camera's on. Just not in our rooms. But." Jaemin looked at his father while he was listening. "I won't tell anyone about the security cameras. You and I as well as your mother, Florence and Jinwoo will have access to them but I won't tell the security team until we find out who exactly let this criminal in." Jaemin frowned in confusion. "Let him in?" He asked confused. "I don't think it is a coincidence that he just walked in when the security guards were gone. He must have paid someone off." His father said. Jaemin's blood boiled by thinking that. He didn't even consider it because he trusted them but now that his father pointed it out, it looked more believable. "I want to see who that person is and get rid of them. Like that, loyalty remains. I don't want to punish someone who is genuinely innocent." His father said. Jaemin nodded his head while he looked at him. "I understand." He replied. "I will go get some sleep. You should too." He said while he patted his shoulder. Jaemin smiled as he nodded his head. "I will try." He responded back and waited for his father to get to his room before he walked inside his own room. He sighed out when he saw Florence still fast asleep. She really did find some sort of comfort by holding his hand because she wasn't moving around so much anymore. At least, she was at peace now. _______________________ "Run, Flower. Run!" Florence heard her mother scream. Florence was breathing loudly as she looked down at her mother that was covered in blood. She barely had an any energy left. The energy she had, she used it on shouting at her to run and leave. "Mama..." Her tiny voice broke. Florence looked at her legs and back to her arms. realising that she wasn't so old... She was younger... She was four or five. She couldn't tell it apart. A man walked up to her mother while she was down on her stomach, facing Florence. "Flower... Run.. Please." She pleaded and cried hysterically. Florence's tears didn't. stop from flowing. "Mama... I am scared." She cried out and tried walking towards her but when her mother screamed again, she turned around and ran as fast as she could. She ran through the dark forest, scared, alone and cold. She ran as much as her tiny legs would take her. She cried loudly. Her feet stumbled upon a rock, making her fall over and roll down a hill. She screamed out in pain and horror. Her heart was beating up her throat. She was too scared. She had no idea what was coming for her and what terrified her even more was that she had no idea what had happened to her mother and why she had to run away. Without realising, she fell into a lake. It was pitch black and she could see nothing. She screamed and tried to swim up but nothing helped. Nothing or no one was helping her. Slowly the water filled her lungs and she stopped fighting to breathe. She became one with the water, drifting in harmony. The little oxygen that was going through her brain made her still feel the cold water on her skin. It didn't make it easier. She closed her eyes, trying to remember her happy moments with her mother and slowly like that, she was passing out until a hand reached out and grabbed her. But it was late. Florence passed out and she wasn't able to see who had saved her. "Florence?" "Florence. Hey wake up." Jaemin's voice slowly woke up Florence again from her deep nightmare. Her forehead was covered in sweat. Her entire body was soaked in it. When she looked into Jaemin's eyes, she realised that she was dreaming and that whatever was happening wasn't real. She blinked a few times as the tried to sit up. Her hands travelled up to her neck and then back to her legs as if she tried remembering her injuries. She frowned as tears formed in her eyes. "I-I think I just remembered something." She stuttered in confusion. Jaemin looked at her and tried to understand what she meant. "I think my mother was murdered in front of me... I-I am sure." She said scared and looked at Jaemin hopelessly. Jaemin frowned and looked at her in disbelief. This was the first time Florence had ever spoken about her family. This was the first ever time that she mentioned her mother. "Jaemin, he killed her. He killed her." She started crying. Jaemin nodded his head and hugged her quickly. "It was a dream." He tried to say without trying to hurt her feelings but he was pretty sure that he somehow did. "No.. This wasn't really a dream, but something I couldn't remember.. Like a lucid dreams." Florence tried to explain herself. Jaemin didn't know what to think. After what happened yesterday, he thought it was a coincidence. He sighed out and nodded his head. "You don't believe me." She said and moved away from him. Jaemin quickly held onto her again. "Don't leave." He said and hugged her. "I do believe you but it was so suddenly. I didn't know what happened to your mother and after what happened yesterday, it looked like you were mixing it." He said. Florence bit her underlip as she looked down sadly. "But I am serious... I used to have flashbacks like these. I find it hard to remember everything. It is like little pieces of what happened." She whispered while she still hugged him. Jaemin sighed as he nodded his head. _ Hello everyone! Welcome to another chapter hehe :)
