I open the door slowly, my lip between my teeth, my eyes on my feet. “Hey, Dad,” I jump when he grabs me and pulls me into his arms. I didn’t expect that. I honestly don’t remember when the last time my father held me in any way was. “It’s okay, Daddy.” I rub his back in comfort. He’s holding me so tightly I can hardly breathe. He pulls away from me and grabs my face between his hands so that I have no choice but to look into his eyes. “My pretty princess,” I can’t help but laugh; he hasn’t called me that in a long
