Escape from hell

1704 Words
Since I was almost caught on the pack’s territory, I hadn’t crossed over again. It had been a few weeks too. Although the scent from that day drove me crazy. It was all I could think about. I had been back to the tree that I watched the boundary line from but not crossed. The pack had doubled patrols, and it would be extremely difficult to get in now, without being seen. I had been sat in the tree most of the day today. It was getting worse at home. My so-called parents were now encouraging my brother and other members of the pack to hit me and hurt me. I tried to stay out the way as much as I could. I still had a gash from 3 days ago when a few of the pack members pushed me into an old car. The metal had become rusty and sharp and had gashed my leg as I fell into it. My parents didn’t care though. I had been feeling rather unwell today and kept having hot flushes. I was considering going to see the medic of our pack, but I doubted they would help. They we’re friends of my parents. I began to climb down from my spot in the tree and prepared to go back to hell. I lost my footing as I got to the lower branch and fell almost 10 feet to the ground. I cried out in pain as I landed hard on my wrist. There was a sharp pain the turned into a dull but aggressive pain. I tried to move it, it moved but it was agony. “At least it’s not broken.” I said to myself. However, I would definitely need to see the medic now. I began the walk back to our pack home. I would go to the medic first then back to the house. I knocked on the door to the medics home lightly. “Come in!” A voice shouted harshly. I pushed open the door slowly and stepped inside. There was a woman cleaning up, sort of. “What the hell do you want!” She spat at me. “I have fallen and wondered if you might take a look, please.” I practically begged. “Why the hell should I? Have your parents sent you?” She said coldly. “No miss. I have come straight to you.” I said trying again to be polite. “It looks fine from here, now f**k off!” She shouted at me. I did as she told me and left. I would have to deal with it myself. I walked slowly back to my house. I dreaded going back. As I neared the door, I could smell the alcohol permeating from inside. I took a deep breath and grabbed the door handle and stepped inside. As I walked down the corridor, I saw my parents passed out on the sofa. My brother was curled up with them. Hatred ran through me. Why did they love him and hate me? All because I was different? I wanted to scream so much, but I also didn’t want to wake them up. I turned towards the back of the house where I slept. I saw a plate of food on the table. There were 3 slices of meat. I couldn’t believe it. I knew it wasn’t actually for me, but I was hungry. I grabbed the meat and took them to my sleeping area. I devoured it at record speed. I knew I would be beat, but I enjoyed it so much. Normally I would just have some bread or potatoes. They never actually left me any food; I always had the leftovers. I really enjoyed the meat. I curled up in the blanket I used as a quilt and tried to drift off to sleep. My wrist was throbbing now. No matter what position I held it in it was hurting. Exhaustion took me after some time. “YOU ARE A THIEVING CUNT!” I heard screamed at something, in the next moment there was a blow to my stomach. It knocked the wind out of me. I gasped for air when another blow hit me stopping me from being able to get any air. In the next second I was being dragged by my hair towards the table. I was lifted up by my so-called father, while he was pointing at the table. “YOU ATE OUR FOOD!” He screamed at me. “I… was…. hungry, I thought you left it for me.” I stammered. “WHY WOULD WE SAVE YOU THE GOOD STUFF?” He screamed in my face. “THAT WAS OUR FOOD, NOT YOURS YOU THIEF!” He screamed in my face. He then threw me across the room. I hit the back of my head against the wall. I heard a crack and reached around to feel it. When I pulled my hand back around, I saw blood all over it. My vision began to blur. “Get out now. If we don’t, we will die!” Came a voice. I had no idea where it came from, but I knew it was right. I dragged myself upright as quick as I could. I saw my father come towards me through blurry vision. I scrambled forwards towards the front door before he could reach me. I was practically on all fours, but I was moving. The pain in my wrist was excruciating but I powered on. I grabbed the door handle and swung it open, as I was about to run out my mother pushed me out. “DON’T EVER COME BACK YOU MUTT!” She said coldly. I hit my head on the path as I fell, I scrambled to my feet again and ran. My vision was getting worse by the second, but I had to run. I headed for the border. I didn’t care if the put me in a dungeon. It would be better than this hell hole. As I neared the border I collapsed. I began to drag myself closer hoping to get across. I felt a gust of wind from behind me carrying my scent towards the border. “Please help!” I cried. My vision began to fade more and more. The pains became duller and duller. A warm sensation ran through my body and darkness took over. The darkness seemed to brighten a little. I could smell something I had never smelled before. There was a steady bleeping in my head. “Where the hell am I? Am I dead?” I thought to myself. I could feel my body but not move. “I must be dead!” I thought. Then I heard some muffled speech as well as the bleeping. I couldn’t make out what they were saying but I could definitely hear them. They sounded almost nice though, and I had never smelled this place in my pack. I couldn’t be dead, surely. The darkness began to get deeper again, and I let it take me. I had no cares left. I don’t know how long I was in the darkness but at least the pain was gone. I felt a warm sensation run through my body. The darkness began to lighten again, I could feel my entire body again. It was a different kind of warm sensation than when the darkness first took a hold. The bleeping became louder but not overwhelming. I heard voices this time. Clear as ever. “Her vitals are stabilised now Luna. All we can do now is pray she comes out of the coma.” I heard one voice say. “Come on young one. You are safe now.” Another soft voice said. This voice sounded sincere. It sounded safe. I tried to open my eyes, but I couldn’t. My body wouldn’t work. I tried for so long I became frustrated. I internally screamed. Not that anyone could hear it. The darkness came again. I heard a sound that startled me. It made me jump to be honest. I realised at that point I could feel my body again. There was still a continuous bleeping to my right. I tried to turn my head towards the sound. Slowly my head began to move, there was a dull pain in my neck, I clenched my fists out of habit. I had learned how not to make a sound. It just made them happier knowing they were hurting me. The smell from before hitting me again, although it didn’t seem as bright through my eyelids now it smelled like I was in the same place. I worked hard trying to open my eyes, they began to flutter open, my vision was blurry at first, however as I blinked continually it became clearer. I began to look around slowly, I saw that I was in a light-coloured room, but there were no lights on, except a small one above the door. I turned my head back towards the bleeping sound, it was a small square shaped machine with a small screen. On the screen we’re 2 lines all doing different things. That’s when I realised one was my heartbeat. I watched the screen for a moment, trying to figure out what the other line meant. Just then the door opened suddenly, I became extremely fearful then, I tried to get off the bed and realised the I was actually strapped to the bed. That’s when I panicked. The machine began to bleep rapidly and the person walking through the door squealed and ran out the door again, leaving me alone. I tried to get out of the restraints that were holding me to no avail. My breathing became erratic, and I started to have a panic attack. The room began to spin, and I had to try and focus on my breathing. I closed my eyes and tried my hardest, but the panic attack was overtaking. heard the door open again but I was too busy trying to breath, I was gasping for breath now, my vision was becoming blurry again, the room became bright all of a sudden.
