“Get up now!” A stern voice said. “We need to find some food. You have to watch David.” It added.
I had been woken up abruptly this morning, not that I had slept much. My room consisted of the small box room at the back of the house. My parents had gone to find some food and left me with my baby brother, well he was a toddler not a baby. He was 6 years old, but he was annoying and clingy as hell. I hated having to watch him, but it was the only way my parents could get us food. I don’t know where they got it from and it was mostly horrible stuff, but it was food.
“David don’t do that, it hurts!” I scolded him.
David was pulling on my hair as I tried to clean up the house. I had long raven black hair with white streaks running through it. My parents hated me as I was different, I was fair skinned and apparently, I was too noticeable. I looked nothing like my parents and even my hair was nothing like theirs. Both my parents had brown hair and my brothers was brown too. They had brown eyes and mine was blue. I had no idea where my hair came from or even my eye colour.
My mother even tried to cut it once and dye it, so she didn’t have to see it. As my hair started to grow long again the streaks started to appear and the dye never took. She hated it even more.
That ment she hated me.
I was punished for something out of my control. I was always made to tidy up and watch David. I never got any thanks or love from either of my parents. All I got was abuse.
The other pack members also stared at me and shunned me. I was different and they didn’t like different. We were a pack of rouge’s living in the old blue moon pack territory. We never got disturbed or anything as long as we stayed out the way of other packs.
I hated being a rouge.
“Your ugly. And I hate you!” My brother said harshly. He was starting to become like my parents.
I really did consider just leaving but I had nowhere to go. Other packs would just hurt me or throw me in the dungeons. Well, that’s what my parents told me. Once they returned from getting food, they told me to get out of their faces. That ment go away and stay away. I swear they wouldn’t even notice if I left.
Well, they probably would as they would have to do stuff themselves.
I went outside into the woods, as far as I dared too. I found peace out here. No one would judge me or shout at me or name call me. The other kids of our pack would say cruel thinks, push me and throw things at me. I just tried to stay out the way now. It was easier that way.
I had started to wander further away from the pack house lately. I had even crossed into a pack territory. I don’t know what pack, but it was a big one. Something drew me out here.
I walked through the woods nearing the border of the pack, quietly and carefully. I could smell that a patrol had recently been past, so I was safe for a bit. I had watched them for a full day before. It was roughly a two-hour window before the next patrol would come around.
I stepped over the boundary and headed for the quite place I normally go to. I had no idea why, but I was drawn here. It was a beautiful place though. There was a stream that ran smoothly through a thin patch of spruce trees.
It was only a 20 minutes' fast walk from the boundary. I was sat for a little while just thinking about life, when a scent drifted my direction. It was a fruity scent, Like cherries.
I lifted my nose and got to my feet. I needed to see where the scent was coming from.
I followed it for around 15 minutes, walking cautiously through the trees. Lucky for me it was springtime, so the ground was soft and as long as I was careful it was silent.
I neared the edge of the woods, slowing down to almost a crawling speed. I crouched so I would be completely hidden in the shadows, as I looked out towards the open area, I saw a young boy.
He looked about the same age as David, however he had mousey blond hair and blue eyes. He was crouched in the trees just on the edge of the open area, then he crawled out into the open area and began to walk towards a huge mansion. He stopped suddenly and turned in my direction.
I sunk lower into the shadows, praying he would not see me. I saw the breeze waft his hair slightly and it carried his scent in my direction. The smell of cherries filled my nose, it was sweet yet there was something else lingering with it. I couldn’t quite figure what it was.
Just then the boy spun and ram towards the mansion. He looked petrified as he turned away. Then I saw two men coming from the other side of the mansion.
I spun and ran towards home. I didn’t care if I was quiet, I needed to get out of here fast.
I ran as fast as my legs would take me back to the boundary line of the pack, I climbed a tall oak tree and watched the boundary line from above. The tree was 30 feet away from the boundary, but I could see relatively clearly the path I used.
I saw the same two men that can from the mansion and a few guards with them. They scanned the path I used, one of the men had piercing emerald, green eyes, he looked terrifying to say the least.
“There was definitely someone here.” One of them said.
“Yes, but it doesn’t smell like a full rouge. Why are they in rouge territory though?” The emerald eyed man questioned.
“I have no idea, Alpha. I will double the patrols. They won’t get through again. I promise.” The first one said in response.
“Ok, Jason. Come on. We have a meeting to get too.” The emerald eyed man said, still searching the area below me.
My heart was racing, I had never seen an alpha before. He looked massive, And scary. Was he the alpha that killed the original alpha of this territory? That alpha was apparently a tyrant. It was said that he wiped out the original alpha and luna and killed 90% of their pack. Either way, I wouldn’t be crossing the border any time soon. Although the boy's scent still remained in my nose. It was a soothing scent, and I was addicted to it already. What the hell was wrong with me?
I waited until dusk before I climbed down out of the tree and headed back to the hell, I called home.
No sooner had I walked into the house, they began screaming at me.
“Where the hell have you been mutt?” My mother screamed at me, as I walked through the door.
I was hoping that they would be asleep or passed out by the time I got back. I ignored her and tried to go to my so-called room, however my brother blocked the path. In the next instant something hit the back of my head, and I went down.
“I was talking to you!” She screamed at me. ”we needed you to clean up. Where the hell did you go.” She added.
“I bet she’s been sleeping about!” My father sniggered.
“They would need to be desperate.” My mother tormented.
I managed to get to my feet, only to be grabbed and dragged towards the small box room. It was never used for anything really, but they did use it for the purpose of locking me in and keeping me in. It was big enough for a cot and a set of draws, but all I had was a dirty old blanket. I even had to ask to use the bathroom. I had learnt to hold it quite well plus I never really had much to drink, so didn’t require it often.
I would remain locked in here until they decided they needed me for something, so normally a day. They wouldn’t know how to clean up if it smacked them in the face.
I curled up on the blanket and tried to sleep, my head was pounding from my mother's blow.
I pulled a part of the blanket over myself and closed my eyes. I don’t know how long it took before sleep took me.
