Enchanting deception

Fairies do exist

When Tase regained his consciousness, he was still in Titan's body. The excruciating pain of loosing his family was a little more bearable now that Titan was there. Also, the strong scent of medicines and the smell of fresh tea soothed his racing mind.

- Hey, how are you buddy? - he asked and Titan growled.

*- Like s**t, but alive and for now, that's enough.

- I agree. - Tase looked around and noticed that they were in a tiny house. More specifically in the kitchen of a tiny house. He was laying on thick blankets in front of a fireplace, where the fire was still burning. The sound of the burning wood and silence of the winter forest made him calm a little more. There was a lingering scent of what Titan previously mentioned on their fur along with strong medical herb scent.

*- Someone took care of our injuries. - Titan stated and Tase nodded. He kept looking around. The house was cute and neat. Whitewashed kitchen cabinets with black leaf-shaped handles, were lined up not far from where he was laying. The kitchen counter was made of dark lacquered solid oak. There was also a small stove and a small fridge at the end of the kitchen near to the sink. The tiles had a pale pink floral pattern on a grey background. No light filtered in through the small round windows, which was how Tase knew it was already late at night. Dark green curtains hung on the sides of the windows. Opposite the small kitchen was a round dining table with two carefully carved chairs. He got up to look around more carefully. Despite the fact that his wounds were stinging and had not yet healed even with Titan's efforts, he was in pretty good shape. As Titan said, at least they were alive. Tase walked into the next room where dark brown bookshelves lined the walls, filled with books, jars and herbs. In the middle of the room, there was a soft burgundy sofa and a yellow armchair. A thick, brightly coloured rug laid under his paws and a chandelier made of antlers hung from the ceiling. As he walked out of the room and back into the kitchen, Tase saw themselves in the mirror. His fur was jet black, his eyes the same amber colour as they were as a human. The same as his father's. Tase sat down and said goodbye to his loved ones with a pained howl. He didn't need Titan to know that no one was left alive. Then he heard the hurrying footsteps of tiny feet approaching. Grunting, he turned in the direction of the sound and prepared to attack. At the bottom of the stairs a young girl appeared. Her white lace nightdress came up to her ankles, her feet in pink slippers. She was, holding an oil lamp in her frail hand. Even in the dim light, Tase could see how beautiful she was. Her long hair hung to her waist, its very unique colour throwing them both off for a moment.

- Do you see it too? - Tase asked Titan in their mind and he barked.

*- I've never heard of anyone with dark coral colored hair. - Their eyes met with the girl's and Tase got mesmerized by the colors of her eyes. It was a mixture of lavender, arsenic, and russet. She smiled sweetly, with her pretty pink lips. Tase had never seen such a beautiful girl before. Her snow-white skin was decorated with tiny freckles, she had a tiny little nose and full lips. Her face was slightly flushed from the warmth of the fireplace. Titan took a deep breath and said excitedly.

*- I've smelled her scent earlier today. Her scent scared the wolves away.

- This sweet aroma? - Tase asked totally confused. Titan nodded.

*- I have no idea why either, but it is the same scent definitely. She smells like honeysuckles. - The girl slowly approached them but kept her distance.

- Hey doggie, don't be afraid of me. I won't hurt you, see? - she put the lantern down slowly and lifted her hands in the air. Her voice seemed like the sound of the soft violins mixed with the calming sound of the sea waves.

*- Did she just call us doggie? - Titan asked and Tase chuckled.

- I don't think she knows about werewolves. She probably thinks we are a big dog.

*- A huge dude! How is she not afraid?

- No idea, but I think we can trust her. I'm curious.

*- Me too, but let's just stay like this. If she is a human she would be scared to see us shift.

- Good point, although I don't think there's a human with a look like hers. - Tase stopped snarling and sat down. The girl smiled again and asked politely.

- May I come closer? - Titan laid down and she walked to them. The girl extended her hand and gently caressed behind Titan's ears. He waggled his tail happily and Tase rolled his eyes in their mind.

- So you are a big doggie in the end? - he asked Titan teasingly and he barked in agreement.

- My name is Adalinda! What's yours? - she asked and Tase really liked the sound of her name. It was as special as the girl. Titan barked a few times and she tilted her head.

- Woof woof? That's an interesting name. - she said chuckling.

- I hope you are fine to stay with me here. You got really beaten up. I took care of your wounds, but it will take some time to heal. My home is big enough for both of us and I'd really like to have some company. What do you say? - Tase's heart clenched in their chest. Is she living all alone in the middle of the forest? This girl is barely twelve years old!

*- Isn't she too young to be alone? - Titan asked.

- Exactly what I was thinking about buddy. Since we have nowhere to go, what if we just stay?

*- You must go to your Uncle's to let him know about what happened.

- But we can't leave her alone!

*- Let's heal first and we will figure it out later.

- Thanks. - Titan licked Adalinda's hand and she giggled.

- I'll take this as a yes! In this case, welcome home doggie! - They all went back to sleep and for a few more hours Titan and Tase tried to figure out what the girl was until tiredness conquered both of them and they fall into a deep sleep. Adalinda couldn't fall asleep for a few hours more either. She was way too excited. Finally, some company. - tears run down on her cheek and she sobbed silently while wiped off her own tears. She looked out of the window at the starry night and blew a kiss into the darkness whispering.

- I miss you all! Goodnight!
