Lizzy
I made it to my test just fine. I noticed my car making a strange sound on my way in but hoped everything would be fine until I got home later and could have my dad take a look at it. But on my way home, it died. Sighing, I pulled off to the side of the road and started digging through my bag to find my phone. The sound of a motorcycle had me looking up from my search. One of the new guys pulled up in front of me. I liked to think I was over what Connor had done to me, but I wasn't entirely. Having to talk with a guy I didn't know since childhood had me on edge. Not that I thought he would hurt me, he was a member of the MC, and I had no reason to think he wouldn't be anything but polite. But I still didn't know him. Taking a deep breath and letting it out slowly as I watched him climb off his bike, I tried to calm myself. 'You have nothing to be scared of, Lizzy. He saw you parked on the side of the road and is just being nice.' Taking another deep breath, I forced myself to open the door and climb out of the car.
"Everything ok?" I shook my head, "I don't know what happened. It started making a strange noise, and then it just died." He nodded, "Mind if I take a look?" I shook my head and stepped out of his way. Axel, he didn't have all the tattoos his brother did. He had a few on his arms but not like his brother, who was covered in them. I watched as he reached in and hit a button popping the hood on my car. Following him around to the front end, I watched as he opened the hood and a small amount of steam rolled out. He looked around a bit, then closed the hood. "Looks like your radiator is leaking." I sighed. "Want me to give you a ride somewhere?" I gave him a small smile. "I don't want to stop you from wherever you were going. I will call my dad." He shrugged, "I was just driving around getting to know the area. It's no bother." I hesitated a moment. But in the end, I nodded. I didn't really want to sit on the side of the road and wait for my dad to get here and have someone else stop. The next person could be someone that wasn't a member of the MC. "Yeah, that would be great." I moved back over to the car, pulled my bag out, and made sure I had my keys and everything out of the car. I made sure to lock the doors and then made my way over to Axel's bike. Like every other guy in the MC, he handed me his helmet before helping me climb on behind him. Again I took a deep breath before placing my hands on his sides and told him where to go.
He pulled up behind my mom's car in the driveway. Climbing off the back, I pulled his helmet off and handed it back to him. "Thank you." He nodded, "of course." Glancing at the house a moment, I didn't see any movement inside, but I knew both my parents were home. My mom's car was here, and my dad's bike was parked in front of her car. So I took a chance and turned back around. "Would you like something to drink or something?" He shrugged. "Sure." I smiled at him and headed up towards the house, him following me. Opening the front door, I kind of wished I hadn't.
I am guessing my parents didn't know I was going to be home just yet. Scattered on the floor, leaving a trail up the stairs, were discarded clothes. The sounds of my mom moaning very loudly came from upstairs, and I was sure my face was bright red. Kill me now. Turning, I had to force myself to look at Axel. This was so embarrassing. "Um, maybe we shouldn't sit inside." As though to emphasize my point, the sounds my mom was making seemed to get loader. Laughing, Axel nodded. I sighed. This was so embarrassing. I needed to move back out of my parent's house, for real. Sitting my bag down, I went as quickly as possible into the kitchen and grabbed a couple of cans of soda. I ran back outside, shutting the front door behind me. Thankfully all the sounds coming from my parent's room stayed inside the house. I handed Axel one of the sodas.
I sat on the steps, Axel following me and sitting next to me. I shook my head, trying to forget about what my parents were doing inside. "So….how are you and your brother liking it here?" I had to talk about anything. "Everyone seems to be easy to get along with." I nodded. From the corner of my eye, I could see him smiling at me. He was really cute. Summer was right. And for the first time since everything, I actually felt attracted to a guy. I also could feel myself calming down and felt more comfortable. "So you are going to school?" I nodded, "Yeah, I am halfway through my bachelor's degree, then I can start my residency at the hospital." He raised an eyebrow, "A doctor?" I nodded, "A surgeon preferably. My mom works in the emergency room and is an amazing doctor. I have always wanted to be a doctor too, but I don't want to work in the emergency room like she does." A smile pulled at his lips. "So smart and beautiful. I'm surprised you don't have guys lined up down the block." I scoffed. "All the guys my age in town are either too scared of my dad, or they are scared of my brother or both." He shrugged, "I don't know who your brother is, but I have met your dad. The guy didn't seem all that scary to me." I couldn't help but laugh. "That's because you didn't piss him off. I am almost positive he killed my ex. It's the only explanation I have as to why the guy has left me alone since moving back to town." He raised an eyebrow at me. I wasn't sure why I said that out loud. I barely knew this guy. Nor did I care really if my dad had killed my ex. Clearing my throat, I decided to change the subject. "So you and your brother, are you twins?" Thankfully he let me change the subject. "Yes, Tats is two minutes older than me." I couldn't help but smile. "You should warn him to be careful. Summer is crushing on him a lot. Best thing I can recommend and really the only thing that saved my brother when he hooked up with Clara was to have Jay on his side."
Confusion filled his eyes, making me smile more. "Clara is Knuckles's oldest daughter. She and my brother were best friends growing up, then for some reason, the two of them stopped talking to each other. My brother joined the MC along with Bear's oldest son Jax. The two of them transferred up north not long after Clara and Alex stopped talking. Then about five or so years ago now Clara moved up north to go to college there. And the two hooked up. I think Knuckles is just now getting over it. I think the twins softened the old guy. But Summer said since the whole Clara and Alex thing, Knuckles has been extra crazy about her dating." Silence fell between us, and I began to get nervous again. Maybe I said too much. He barely knew me, and he was new to town.
I didn't want to make him think he and his brother wouldn't be welcomed here. They were members of the MC. Of course, the guys would welcome them no matter what. His phone dinged, pulling my attention from my inner turmoil. Glancing at it, he stood handing me back the now empty can. "I'm sorry, I have to go. It seems my brother has gotten himself in trouble." I nodded and watched as he started to walk away, then stop and turn back around, walking back over to me. "Would it be possible to maybe hang out again?" Apart of me wanted to say no. I wasn't ready for a relationship with anyone. But at the same time, it was nice to sit and talk with someone other than my family and Summer. And it didn't hurt that he was really nice to look at. Swallowing hard, I nodded, gaining a smile from him. Pulling back out his phone, he hit a few buttons then handed it to me. I took it and put my number in for him. "I guess I will talk to you later." I smiled and nodded. "Good luck with your brother." Scoffing, he nodded and headed out.
I sat on the steps for a few more minutes, watching Axel leave before I stood up, hoping my parents were done. Just as I reached the front door, it opened, and my father stood on the other side. "Lizzy, whose bike was that, and where is your car?" I shook my head at him. "My car broke down on my way back. Axel saw me on the side of the road as I was about to call you and offered me a ride home. From the sounds of things when we got here, I am glad I accepted." Shrugging, he moved away from the door. "Well, that was nice of him. Where is your car now?" I shook my head and headed inside going to the kitchen to take care of the empty soda cans I had in my hand. "Still on the side of the road, I haven't called to have it picked up yet. Axel said it looked like my radiator was leaking." Nodding, my dad headed back out of the room. "I will get changed and go take care of it." I didn't respond. I knew he would. I am sure my dad would just have it brought back here and take care of it himself. Which will mean I will need a ride to work tomorrow, but I wasn't worried about that. I could always call Summer in the morning if I needed to.
