Maurice I woke up to a soft knock on my door. It was Beta Gary, and I knew he wouldn't leave until I answered. With a heavy sigh, I dragged myself out of bed and opened the door, my expression carefully crafted to convey my supposed distress. "I don't want to go to school," I muttered, keeping my gaze fixed on the floor. Beta Gary's voice was firm as he responded, "If you don't eat breakfast, I'll have to take you to the hospital." His words jolted me into action, and I reluctantly followed him to the dining room, where Marla and Crystal were already seated. I took my place at the table, avoiding eye contact with anyone.
