Massy's weekend consisted of nothing but goal training. Nonstop running back and forth, line drills, Bicycle kicks. After her last-minute dinner with Odell, he got her thinking that maybe she was thinking too much and too hard about a decision that any person in their right mind would make. Go Pro, but she knew she wanted to finish out the internship that the Giants offered her, she'd finish out the whole season with them.
Massy stretched out on her large cream-colored sofa, she let her body relax and sink into the cushions. Her hair still slightly damp from her shower, she had almost fallen asleep until she heard her sister banging on her door. Massy frowned and sighed, she continued to lay there hoping her sister would think she wasn't home.
"Don't think just because you lay there quietly I won't think you home, I got a key!" Mari said tossing her stuff on the other sofa.
Massy sighed but kept her eyes closed.
"What happened to you last night, you were supposed to meet up with me and everybody for the movies!" Mari screamed from the kitchen.
Massy shot up from the couch, her eyes and mouth wide open. "Oh my god! Mari I completely forgot!" Massy covered her mouth for a moment then dropped her hand. "A friend asked me to dinner last night... Literally at the last minute, and I completely forgot about the movies, I'm so sorry." Massy apologized with a genuine sad face.
"It's fine, we still seen the movie." Mari said shrugging her shoulders and popping pieces of cut strawberries in her mouth.
"He literally asked me last minute." Massy said shaking her head and still feeling bad.
Mari's head shot up, she stopped chewing, her widened eyes zoomed in on Massy, by the look on her face Massy knew she had just said too much, realizing she should have just shut up.
"Him!?" Mari said with a slight smile as she slithered around the counter easing her way from the open kitchen to the living room to get deeper into Massy's business. Massy sighed and closed her eyes cursing under her breath.
"Yes, he, and HE is a friend and ONLY a friend, and WILL ONLY be a friend." Massy said, hoping her sister wouldn't ask further questions.
"Name!" Mari demanded
Massy sighed but didn't say anything.
"Massy!"
Massy crossed her arms, she frowned squinting her eyes, the corners of her mouth becoming very tight.
"Massy Olivia Arias!"
She still sat quietly, pausing for a moment. "Od........" She said trailing out his name through her clenched teeth.
"What!"
"Od......" She said agin.
Massy's sister c****d her head and tapped her foot on the hardwood floor of Massy's New York home.
"ODELL! Oh my gosh!" She screamed throwing her hands up in defeat.
Mari pulled out her phone, pulling up Google, she typed in his name. Mari was pretty much the spitting image, looks-wise, and height wise of her younger sister Massy, yet the two girls were the complete opposite. Mari was slender but by no means as muscular as Massy, she wore a heavy contorted face wherever she went, hair was always done to a T, and if she couldn't wear it, or spend it, she wasn't interested in it, she was all about fashion, to her every sport looked the same. Yet her lack of knowledge never kept her from cheering and supporting her little sister at a game. Even if she didn't know what was going on.
"Odell... Beckham Jr? .... Yup this is him, New York Giants? Right? Yea." Mari continued looking at the quick stats. "22, LSU, oh, first-round draft pick... He must be good!? WR." Mari looked from her phone to Massy, who never looked more annoyed in her life.
"What is WR?" She asked, genuinely not knowing.
"Wide Receiver." She said sounding tired, her head down, her index finger and thumb pinching the brim of her nose trying to stop the pounding headache that was her older sister from continuing.
"I don't know what that is, but I'm going to assume it's important... And images..... Oh my god." Mari put her hand on her chest, her mouth opened, eyebrows frowned. "You sat across a table from this!? ..... He's gorgeous... He's prettier than you.... Oh my God.... Look at him in high school... College!.... The man's been fine his whole life." Mari seemed to be taken back at his physical features, focusing on every picture as she continued scrolling down Google images.
"This is why I don't tell you things! You take them from 0 to 60." Mari said lifting her head up.
"You know, for the longest time, me and mom thought you were a Lesbian." Mari shook her head calmly looking up from her phone. "Your whole life has been nothing but school and sports, school and sports, school and sports, you never had time for a boyfriend so we just assumed you were a lesbian."
Mari looked back down at her phone, clicking on his i********: and scrolling through it, in a matter of minutes she was 98 weeks deep in photos.
"How are you not dating him right now!?" Mari asked with a serious face.
"Mari, I literally just met him four days ago." Massy said in her defense.
Mari frowned at Massy's excuse. "Then the relationship should be four days old!" Mari said back, totally disregarding her sister's excuse.
Massy closed her eyes for a few seconds putting her hand over her mouth, she looked exhausted, she had no more fight in her to go back and forth with her sister. Everything that was coming out of Mari's mouth made sense to Mari, and Massy's look of exhaustion seemed to not bother Mari one bit. Massy opened her eyes and looked at her sister for a few seconds.
"You make me so tired, you know that? Like you literally took the little energy I had and just sucked it all up into your nonsense." Massy said with a straight and very serious face.
Mari poked both her lips out and coked her head to the side, her eyebrows frowned with confusion. She looked at the floor for a moment then up at her younger sister. "Soooo, that's a no on dating him? Ooorrr?" She asked with the same straight and serious face Massy gave her.
Massy sat there for a moment looking back at her thick-skulled older sister, she chewed on the inside of her cheek, then finally just got up and walked to her room. Massy knew this was a debate she was not going to win.
