"Why UCLA?" Odell asked while looking down at the basket of tortilla chips trying to pick out the perfect one.
"I fell in love with the school when I went to go visit it." Massy tried to keep from smiling at him, she admired how he could be himself literally everywhere, even having dinner with a random women he just met three days ago who works for the team he plays for. To the point that he shuffled through a basket of chips literally touching everyone until he found the perfect chip he wanted. He was like a five-year-old with OCD.
Every time his attention wasn't on her she's let out a smile then quickly fix her face when he looked back up. What am I thirteen!? She thought to herself.
"You hear me?" Odell asked looking across the table at her.
Massy shook her head no.
"I said, what made you fall in love?' He repeated himself, then bit into the chip.
"I just fell in love with their facility, the teachers were dope, the coaches were amazing, I felt at ease, home." Massy leaned back in the booth. "I mean I got offers from tones of schools, even got one from LSU." She said playing with the straw in her drink. "But I didn't go to the school visit because I already fell in love with UCLA." She shrugged her shoulders.
Odell smiled at her, he licked his lips then dropped the rest of the half-eaten chip in his basket. He watched her play with the straw.
"See, if you would of went, you would have been down there wit me, would have forgotten UCLA." Odell flashed a confident smile.
"Oh yeah, because you're the only reason I would of went to LSU even though I had no clue who you were." She said teasing him.
The smile on Odell's face disappeared, he licked his lips again and caught eye contact with Massy. "You would of though." He said with a serious face, looking between her lips and chest.
Massy took a deep breath, that too close for comfort feeling came rushing over her. She began nervously playing with her straw again. "So why LSU for you?" She said trying to keep the conversation on track.
Odell smiled so big his eyes closed he leaned back putting his hand on his chest. "I'm a Louisiana boy through and through, moms an pops were both top athletes there, moms even gave birth to me on campus, had me in class wit'em. s**t, I was in school at LSU before I was even old enough to be in school."
Massy covered her mouth as she began to laugh, her dimples becoming more visible Odell reached across the table and grabbed her hand into his pulling it down. "Stop hiding your smile from me."
If this was a cartoon Massy's head would have exploded, ribbons, confetti, and balloons would have came flying out the top of her neck, there was no way this name was this fine, this charming, and this athletic all in one, something had to give. Massy put her hand on her chin to make sure her mouth didn't fall open.
"Ima go to the bathroom real quick." Odell nodded his head and watched her walk through the restaurant.
Odell waved his waiter over. "Aye, I know she refused to let you put this on one check, but Ima pay for this now while she in the bathroom, I'll take the heat for it iigh." Odell said pulling a hundred dollar bill from his wallet and handing it to the man. "Keep the change too." The waiter nodded with a smile and walked away. Massy made her way back to the table, she looked out the window next to their booth, the sky had finally fallen completely dark, for a Friday night going on midnight New Jersey seemed to be quiet, or at least this part of town.
"Not many people be over here, that's why I like it, I can come here in peace and not worry about paparazzi tryna catching me." He explained to Massy already knowing what she was thinking.
Massy turned her head facing him, she gave him a smile. "You're nothing like I thought, yet everything that I thought."
Odell frowned in confusion. "What that mean?"
"Well for starters, I thought you'd be immature." She confessed.
"I'm a grown-ass man." He said back still frowning.
"You're 22!" She said with a stale face.
"So are you!" He said in his defense.
"Girls mature faster than boys tho." She said in her defense and turning up her nose.
Odell rolled his eyes and smacked his lips together. "Right." He said blowing her off.
Massy tossed one of the tortilla chips at him. "Oh, yeah, real mature." Odell picked up the chip off his shirt and ate it.
Dell leaned back in the booth sinking further down getting comfortable, he began twisting little strands of his hair. "You got a big decision to make by January huh?"
Massy sighed at the thought of her decision.
"Soccer's your first love right?"
Massy shook her head yes.
"Well then." Odell said easily with a shrug of his shoulders.
"You saying I should go Pro?" Massy asked with a raised eyebrow.
"The Olympics Massy!" Odell said with wide eyes and a duh look on his face.
Massy smiled and began laughing. Before she could cover her mouth, Odell sprung up from his slumped position and softly grabbed her hand.
"Don't you dare!" He said
Massy pressed her lips together trying to keep from blushing and letting out a smile but it was no use, her face turned bright red and she busted out laughing.
"Stop being so charming! What is wrong with you!" Massy yelled at him with a smile.
Odell gave her a sexy smile, his eyes squinted at her, his head turned slightly to the side. "Southern Charm babe, Southern Charm."
"Oh my gosh, I hate you." She said laughing and tossing another chip at him.
