I sat on my seat. I just finished giving my speech as the Summa c*m Laude of our batch’s department.
"Oh my God! Oh my God!"
I giggled as I looked at Lucett. Like what I thought, she's still having a fight with herself.
Since Jazon announced our wedding three days ago, Lucett never left my side. After almost everyone congratulated me and Jazon at the party that day, Lucett held me like her captive and bombarded me with her questions.
I thought after I answered all of her questions, she will let me out of the hook.
But I'm wrong, my best friend is Lucettia Morfori. She won't let me be in peace until she satisfied herself. And this is why until today, even in our graduation day, she keeps asking me questions that I already answered.
I fixed my dress inside my graduation gown. "You should focus on the program, Lucettia Morfori," I uttered and tried to focus on what the master of ceremonies was saying.
The master of ceremonies called someone for his speech. I'm familiar with most of the guest speakers here.
"And why are you here?" I asked in a weaker voice. "Go back to your seat, Morfori!"
The witch just stared at me. "I'm just a two seat away from your seat, don't make a big deal out of it! And please, don't change the subject!”.
I hit her with the pamphlet I'm holding." Keep it low, will you? I answered all of your questions at the party."
Lucett shook her head, "Oh stop it, Beatriz. You never gave me a clear answer for all of the things I wanted to know! You just giggled, daydreaming while blushing the whole time!"
I kept my head low when some of the students near us looked at us. Lucettia's high tone caught their attention.
Lucettia whispered sorry then acted like she's listening to what the speaker on the stage is saying.
"But, Beatriz..." Her voice reached my ears after a while. "Are you really sure that you're marrying him?"
I glanced at her before looking at the speaker. "Of course! This is my dream ever since. I will be his wife tomorrow!"
Tomorrow is the big day!
After Jazon announced our wedding in his party, we used the remaining three days to prepare for everything that needs our presence.
That's all we do for the past two days. It's not a lot because everything is ready before he even proposed to me. He's a Saavedra, after all. He can make everything and anything ready as he wants.
I smiled when I remembered how sweet he was when we we're together yesterday and the other day.
"Beatriz..." Lucettia, again called me. "Stop daydreaming. Just tell me why you're getting married just after the day of our graduation! It's doesn't make sense at all!"
I pinched her a bit. "Don't worry, Lucettia, I know what I am doing. And I waited for this. Can't you see, I'm happy!"
I saw her side lip rose," Oh come on. Let's say you’re happy. I can see that. You're glowing and look at that eyes, so in love..."
I smiled as I looked at her. "I am, and I really love this feeling."
"But..." Lucett leaned closer to me. "Are you not even surprised why Jazon's moving fast? I mean, he just arrived and the first thing he did is to propose to you. Second, everything's ready already!"
I giggled. "Isn't he amazing? He did everything in a very short time!"
She chuckled. "I thought you're a logical woman, Beatriz. What I'm telling you is, are you really sure that this marriage, yours and Jazon is not a marriage for convenience?"
I peeked at the front. The master of ceremonies is now calling the names of the students for the presentation of diplomas.
I frowned. "Do you hear yourself, Lucett? What do you mean by that?"
She rolled her eyes before turning her gaze at the front. "Look here. Bea, we are in the world of businesses and expansion. For sure, you yourself are familiar with those marriages with convenience, business marriage. In short, arranged-marriage. Marriage in exchange of partnership and investments, you know."
I ignored the small confusion I felt. "I don't think so, Lucett. Both of our family’s businesses are not going through bankruptcy or what. I nor Jazon are not the type who'll agreed to do that."
"Ledezma, Beatriz Cara E. Summa c*m Laude." I heard my name.
Proud, I stood up and walked my way towards the stage.
I quickly dismissed what Lucett had said. She's right about the marriage for convenience in every family in the business world. But I know mine won't be like that.
"Congratulations, Miss Ledezma. And of course for your wedding tomorrow. I'm sure it will be the wedding if the century, it's the Ledezmas and Saavedras after all."
I smiled widely at the Colegio de Aurelio's owner and chairman when he handed me a piece of a rolled paper. "Thank you, Mr. Aurelio.” I looked at the people. around him. “You are all invited."
"Oh yes, hija of course, of course!" The chairman chuckled. He shook my hand again.
I bowed then turned to the other side of the stage before leaving the stage.
Some of the students greeted me before I reached my seat.
"So, you're already the talk of the town, Bea," Lucett whispered as I sat on my seat.
"What do you mean?"
Her eyes twinkled. "Everyone here knows that you're getting married tomorrow!" She pointed my hand, where my engagement ring is.
I bit my lip. " Don't mind them. Just get ready and enjoy this day. You're next," I informed her but the witch already focused on my ring.
I shook my head. She's been asking everything about my decision earlier but look at her now, smiling like an i***t while looking at my ring.
"Morfori, Lucettia Q."
"Lucett!" I called her.
Surprised, the witch immediately stood up. "Oh, s**t!"
I tried to suppress my laughter as I watched her walking towards the stage.
She did not even care when some of the students literally laughed at her. She just raised her brow and claimed her diploma proudly.
After two minutes, she returned to her seat. Well, that's not really her seat.
"Oh my God, Beatriz!" She hit me with the fake diploma on her hand while looking at the back.
"Sshh." I put my finger on my lips, telling her to keep quiet.
But again, she's too excited that I can't stop her. "Your fiancé’s here!"
My eyes broadened. I followed her eyes, and true to her words, I saw Jazon comfortably sitting at the back, beside my parents.
My Dad and Mom smiled at me. Jazon waved his right hand showing his ring.
I felt hot! I averted my gaze from him.
I focused on what's happening on the stage but I can't stop myself from smiling. He has a ring that very similar to the engagement ring he gave me.
I heard Lucett tsked.
"What?" I acted like I saw nothing.
She tilted her head. "You are one lucky witch, Bea!" She laughed.
"Stop it, Lucett!" I hissed.
She's still smiling when she turned her eyes at the front. "You are so obvious. You're really in love with him. And I think, I'll just support your decision."
I held her hand. "Thank you, Lucett."
"I don't have a choice, I'm the maid of honor!" She rolled her eyes dramatically.
We both laughed.
I don't know but I and Lucett spent the whole program just talking with each other. The plans we have after this.
We stood up when the other students stood.
The program ended after a couple of hours. It's almost half a day but I don't even feel that, well I have my best friend beside me who bothered me throughout the program.
Like the others, I and Lucett took a pictures with our classmates and friends here. We greeted and talked with them a bit.
"Miss Ledezma..."
I turned to the owner of the baritone voice. A bouquet of peach roses caught my eyes.
"Kiefer," I awkwardly acknowledge our Magna c*m Laude.
He handed me the bouquet. "Congratulations, Beatriz."
I accepted the flowers. "You don't have to give me this. By the way, thank you."
Kiefer pocketed his hands. "I just want to congratulate you. So, see you when I see you?"
I smiled and nod. He went towards the bunch of students and greeted them too.
A rough hand slid on my side then hugged my waist. "Who's that?"
I smiled when I saw Jazon. His eyes are on Kiefer.
"Our Magna c*m Laude. He greeted and gave me this," I said, overwhelmed by his presence.
His brow rose. "I can give you a plantation of peach roses. He doesn’t need to give you any."
I chuckled. "He's a friend." I and Kiefer are not even in the same circle of friends! I just don't want Jazon to think anything bad about me.
He kissed my forehead. "Congratulations, my wife to be."
My cheeks turned red. "Thank you. But you don't have to come here, I know you are busy."
He just shrugged his shoulder. "Today is my wife to be's graduation day so I should be here."
He chuckled when I smiled shyly.
"Let's go to your parents, they are waiting for us, wife."
