Humans were put on this earth for a reason and since Rayna and her kind dwell in the water, it only means that these mermaids were placed there for the same reason humans were placed on the land. They are here to accommodate us. It's not like we abuse them. How is this different from what humans do? They raise their animals and then kill them for sustenance. At least when we feed on them.
