Chapter 1

1505 Words
Melissa My day doesn't start very well. I am woken up by a blessed alarm clock. What a shame, getting up early isn't my strong suit, I think. I know you probably don't understand anything, but, with time, you will understand. I'm seventeen years old, I'm a senior in high school and, thank God, I'm about to graduate. I live with my mother, Elisa. My father died when I was little, the victim of an accident. My mother isn't one to talk about her life and I respect that. But she always tells me that they were in love, until one night he ended up having an accident, leaving my mother a widow and me an orphan. After my father died, my mother was no longer the same, she never went out to date or even go out with her friends, especially Gabi's mother. You know, I like to think that my prince charming is waiting for me outside, one day we will meet, fall in love, get married and live happily ever after. The thoughts I'm having about meeting Prince Charming... talking about marriage... I'm really crazy. I look around my room and see that it's the way I always wanted, of course it's not all pink like most girls like. No, mine the walls are painted the color of the sky, with clouds. My bed, where I am now lying, is a double bed, I have always been very spacious. At that moment, I find myself too lazy to get up, but I gather courage and slowly get up. Wow, I wanted to stay in my bed so much, it seems like she's calling me: “Come, Mel, lie down here. I’m very happy, waiting for you, look at these sheets, how delicious…” Oh, wicked bed, I think. And with one last look at her, I go straight to the bathroom and take a long, hot shower to see if I wake up. I am laziness personified. When I finish, I go back to my room to see what I'm going to wear, of course it has to be the uniform. I'll confess, it's ridiculous to have to wear that black t-shirt with the school emblem. The good thing is that we can choose the pants. I always wear jeans. When I get dressed, I look in the mirror and see that I have a great body. Not that I'm a Miss Universe, but I think it's worth the expense. I have a normal body for any teenager, and I always go through that accordion effect, gaining weight and losing weight straight away. But I'm not that kind of girl who worries about staying thin, like a model, no. I eat everything. I'm small, redheaded and have a few freckles on my face. As every redhead should be, I come with expressive and large green eyes. I comb my long hair and tie it up, leaving some curls loose, which makes me look like both a girl and a femme fatale. I put on very light makeup, I'm going to school and not to a party. Although it will be our graduation soon, I mean... I wish I could, we're still at the beginning of classes. The song So What by Pink blares through my room and I know it's my cell phone ringing. When I pick up the device, I see that it is my friend Gabriela. You know that person you can count on for everything? Well then, it's her. — Speak, Gabi. — I answer, very direct. - Hi honey. I'm outside waiting for you — Gabi warns. I go to my bedroom window and see her standing there, looking at the window. When she sees me, she waves her hand and I respond in kind. — Why don't you come into the house, Gabi? — No, Mel. If I come in, we get involved, chat and forget about life. I want to go to school soon to see if my day ends soon — she says through her teeth. Well, you saw that I'm not the only one who complains about school. I turn away from the window and grab my skull backpack. — I'm coming, friend — I warn. — Ok, I'll wait for you, but it won't be long — I agree and turn off the cell phone. I go to meet my mother who looks disapproving when she sees my hair. For her, my hair has to be loose and not tied up the way it is. —Mom, I'm late — I say quickly before she comes up with the story that I have to get ready better. — I see, Mel. At least have a juice — he asks. I go to the kitchen and get the juice that she lovingly made, I drink it quickly while I hear her say: — Mel, you should wake up earlier. I've never seen a girl sleep as much as you do - she complains and I have to agree. — Mom, I need to sleep, I'm still growing and you know how the hormones at this stage make us sleepy — I justify and see my mother's perplexed face. — Gabi won’t come in? — No. I invited her, but she said we would be even more late — I reply. I see my mother take a bottle and fill it with juice. — Take it to her — he says and hands me the bottle. — Make sure you eat something properly. there, huh! — Thank you, mom, you can leave it. I give her a quick kiss and let her know I'll be home for lunch. This is one of the things I like doing most. I love spending time with her and, of course, with my friend Gabi. I say goodbye to my mother again and leave the house. I find Gabi walking back and forth. I'm sure you're already nervous because I took so long. Before month As soon as I open my mouth, she sees me and says: — Damn, Mel, how long was that? Were you producing for your prince charming? — She questions in a scathing tone. —What animal bit you, Gabi? — I ask, already finding it strange that she talks like that. Although she gets like that when she has PMS. — I have PMS, can you believe it? — She comments and I just agree. I hand the bottle to her, and she looks at me without understanding anything. — My mother sent you this little bottle of orange juice. — Thank her later, Mel. Sorry, but I feel terrible when I have PMS — she says, a little embarrassed. I know what it's like, but in my case, I'll even end up in the hospital in a lot of pain. My mother took me to the gynecologist when I turned fifteen and she recommended taking birth control to help ease the pain. Thank God they got better and I know I can't go without taking them. — -I say so. Let's go, because the time goes by quickly and, if we don't hurry, we won't be able to get into school today — I conclude and we quicken our pace towards the bus stop. We could even walk, but not delay. We were told that we will have a new teacher starting today and I don't want to be late on the first day. — Gabi, what do you think this teacher should be like? I ask, curious. — At the very least, he must be short, chubby and bad-looking — she says, laughing. This teacher will take the place of our teacher, who decided to ride a motorcycle with her husband and they fell, she ended up injuring her knee and will not be able to ride for a long time. — It must be, I would love for him to be less annoying than our teacher Adriana — I comment. — Hopefully — agrees Gabi. I soon see the school and signal for us to go down. We continued the rest of the way laughing, I really am a clown, I laugh at everything, even horror films. Right at the gate, I greet some friends from other rooms. Gabi gets in front of me and I end up falling behind. In the hallway I see a man who, in my opinion, can be called a man with a capital H. Tall, dark and looks drop dead gorgeous, the suit and tie add extra charm. But did he enter the classroom? I find that strange. A few more steps and I enter the same room. When he turns around, he looks at me with those dark eyes full of desire and makes me want to run into his arms, where I would be nestled in them forever.. I shake my head, pushing the thoughts away. Holy s**t, who is this man? Is he the new teacher? I think I fell in love.
