Chapter 3 What a Coincidence

879 Words
Lisa looked Eber in the eyes and said firmly, "Goodbye." But in the next moment, Eber blocked her path and slammed her against the wall, whispering into her ear, "You were my wife, after all. Are you just leaving without doing anything? Though you make me sick, I can get you off one last time." Out of annoyance, Lisa raised her leg and delivered a swift kick between Eber's legs. "Ah!" Eber screamed in agony, covering his crotch as he doubled over. Freed, Lisa smirked, picked up her suitcase, and said, "Bye." Her look of disgust only added to Eber's humiliation, making him feel like a piece of s**t. She didn't look back. Last year, right after graduating from college, Lisa had been swept into marriage, thanks to Eber, and started her life as a full-time housewife. Eber paid for everything, so all she had to do was manage the household and live a carefree life. However, the man who had vowed fidelity had cheated a year later, so she had to fend for herself now. Having graduated from a university with a degree in Translation Studies, Lisa wasn't too worried about her future. First, she found a place to live, then polished her resume and promptly sent it to her target companies. Soon, HE Enterprise, ranked among the top 100 global companies, responded. After several rounds of interviews, Lisa successfully landed a job as an interpreter. She was to start her career next Monday. The job was challenging. She was to be the personal interpreter for the CEO of HE Enterprise, August, known for his unpredictable temper, and would work closely with him for seven days. The city lights came to life, marking the beginning of the evening's allure. Lisa came back to the bar where she had been that fateful night. Only this time, she wasn't looking for a romantic encounter. Having secured her future livelihood, she simply wanted to relax. A stunningly beautiful single woman at a bar was bound to attract a lot of attention, especially from men. Despite wave after wave of men approaching her, Lisa dismissed them all with disdain. In the VIP section of the bar, a group of well-dressed, handsome men, clearly societal elites, watched her with keen interest. "August, look! Isn't that the woman you left with that night?" "Has she gotten hooked and come back here waiting for you?" Surrounded by his admirers, August, who exuded a powerful aura with a chilly demeanor, looked particularly mysterious in his black suit amidst the bright lights and lively atmosphere of the bar. Leaning back casually in his seat, fiddling with his glass, he drew the gazes of numerous women through his laid-back yet captivating posture. This man was August, the billionaire CEO of HE Enterprise and the very same man Lisa had s*x with in the car. August's brooding eyes fixed on the seductive woman not far from him. Her negative comment about his skills echoed in his mind again. Not that good? Oh, she was such a b***h who was simply playing hard to get! August unfolded his legs and rose to his feet, glass in one hand, the other in his pocket, and made his way toward Lisa. "Are you waiting for me?" His voice, low and compelling, suddenly interrupted her musings. "Huh?" Lisa lifted her eyes to meet his perfect face. "I'm sorry, you are?" A chill seemed to settle over August's icy face. He leaned in and said by Lisa's ear with a stern tone, "Don't play games with me, chick. I have nothing but disdain for such tactics." Lisa was clearly drunk, staring at August with her pure doe eyes. She giggled, hooking one hand around his neck. Her breath was warm and tinged with the scent of red wine. The dim lights cast a seductive glow around her. She parted her lips to say something, but her eyes fluttered shut, and she collapsed into August's arms. She was completely intoxicated. The next morning, as the first rays of dawn streamed through the window onto the bed, Lisa frowned. The hangover was almost splitting her head. She opened her eyes to find a perfectly charming face inches from her own. Startled, she scooted back hurriedly, forgetting she was already at the edge of the bed. With a sudden move, she fell right off the bed. Her body hit the floor hard, forcing a cry of pain from her lips. The noise instantly woke the man on the bed, who slowly opened his eyes. "Last night..." Lisa quickly looked down to check her clothes, feeling relieved to find them intact and her body free of new marks. "Relax, I'm not into a numb partner," August said as he got up and stepped over Lisa, heading toward the bathroom. What the heck?! Was she so drunk last night? Seeing him step over her, Lisa was furious. She grabbed his foot and yanked hard, snapping, "Where are your manners... Ouch!" Unfortunately, before she could finish, she cried out in pain. August, pulled by her tug, lost his balance and fell right on top of her. His tall and solid figure pressed her firmly against the floor. "Seems like you're disappointed about last night. Shall we start now?" he offered.
