"7 in the evening at Arabelle’s. I’ll be waiting for you.”
She didn’t know what came into her mind last night. Why did she agree? Albert already warned her about him and yet….
She was on her way home from work and all the while she was thinking if it would be best if she just cancelled their date. She just had to think of a good reason why she had to cancel.
But she could not think of any.
“Just this once, Emily. There’s nothing wrong in going out on a date. You’re 24 for God’s sake,” she kept telling herself.
When the car stopped in front of the long staircase leading to the mansion’s front door, she was greeted by her family’s butler.
“Good evening, Ma'am Emily.”
“Good evening, Charles. I have an appointment this evening. David, kindly prepare my black Mercedez,” she said to her driver.
“Ok, Ma'am Emily.” David left.
Charles gave her a questioning look. “Should I call Morgan?” he was referring to her family’s driver.
She gave him a smile, “No need, Charles. I’ll drive. Thank you. I’ll leave you now.”
She headed straight to her room and hurriedly took a shower.
She decided to wear a pencil cut off- shoulder emerald green dress and paired it with black stilettos and black pouch.
She just chose to wear diamond stud earrings as well as her favorite diamond necklace. The necklace was given to her by her brother Marcus on her 18th birthday.
She let loose her long wavy black hair.
As she put on her earrings, she heard a knock on her door.
“Come in.” A maid entered.
“Ma'am, a man is waiting for you outside.”
“Who?”
“Kai Stevens, Ma'am.”

She looks stunning.
Kai thought as she emerged from the mansion’s front door. He was not blind to see that she was a beautiful woman. Her long wavy black hair accentuated her heart-shaped face. She had expressive eyes that were adorned with long thick lashes. And her lips, her rosy lips, it would fit in his mouth when he kisses her. He is sure of it.
Aahh… that can wait.
He told her that he would meet her at the dinner place, but it was just part of his plan. He would show up at her place to fetch her, to make it look more romantic.
“I thought we’d meet at Arabelle’s,” she said.
“Yes, but I’m excited to see you. Besides, I don’t wanna give you any chance to cancel our date.”
He led her to his car. Before getting in, she instructed the maid to inform Charles that she was not going to use her car anymore.
Arabelle’s really looks like a perfect place for a date.
She had never been here since it was known as an exclusive place where couples spend their dates or special occasions. Indeed, it had a romantic ambience.
But as they made her way to the reserved table of Kai, she noticed that they were the only customers. She looked at Kai with questioning eyes.
He smiled, “I reserved the whole place for tonight."
Of course, he could afford to do that. She did her research and had found out that this man in front of her was a billionaire. He was actually famous in their circle. Only she was not aware of it since she was not so interested in knowing the background of any businessman unless he or she was her family’s business partner.
Albert was right. Her father would really love to have him for a son-in-law.
She blushed when she thought about it. Oh my, why am I starting to think that we’ll become a couple?

While they were on their way to her house, she thought about everything that happened while they were at Arabelle’s.
They talked about a lot of things; his business ventures, her work routine, their hobbies and even the best summer getaways they’ve had. She enjoyed talking to him. She enjoyed seeing him laugh and smile. She actually studied his face all throughout the night.
He is indeed a handsome man. He has that kind of face that would make any woman stopped in her tracks. His hair was warm dark chocolate curls. He has dark eyes that can penetrate any woman’s soul. Her heart even beat so fast when he stared at her with those eyes. He’s got a brown skin and he looms a few inches taller than her. His face was strong and defined. An Adonis.
“Emily.”
She was a little startled when he called her attention. He was seriously driving and was a bit quiet since they left Arabelle’s.
“Yes?”
He suddenly stopped the car on the side on the road. Then, he looked at her. Her heart started racing in her chest.
“I enjoyed this night. With you,” he said without taking his eyes off her.
“I enjoyed it, too."
“I’m happy to know that. Can we do this again?” Again, those eyes.
“What do you mean?”
“I want to eat dinner with you every day. I want to talk to you about my day and anything under the sun.”
She was just staring at him. She didn’t know what to say.
He moved a little towards her and took her right hand.
“I want you to be my woman.” He said while staring at their joined hands. Then he looked up and stared at her eyes.
“Will you let me be your man?”
It happened so fast.
She said yes and from then on, he never missed having dinner with her every day. He would send flowers, chocolates and even letters while she was in her office. He also never missed calling her when she wakes up or even when she was about to sleep.
Yes, she was crazily in love with him that one month after, she decided to say “Yes” to him.
She was happy. She loved him and he loved her.
Well, he hadn’t told her those three words but it was not important. He made her feel loved every day.
Maybe, he was just not used to saying those words as early as now.
Albert was against their relationship at first. But when he saw how happy and lively, she was, he decided to support her relationship with Kai. With one condition,
“If he hurts you, I’ll kill him. So, make sure that I will not see you in tears because of him.”
Kai would never hurt her. As a matter of fact, he had only been giving her happiness since the day they met.
A knock on her door stopped her thoughts.
“Ma'am Emily.” It was Charles.
“Come in. What is it?”
“Your father wants to talk to you, Maám. He’s in his study room.” Charles left.
She could not believe it. Her father wanted to talk to her? Why? For what reason? Whenever he wanted to say something to her, it’s either through her sister Amelia or Charles.
She hurriedly went out of her room and made her way to her father’s study room. She knocked.
“Come in.”
When she opened the door, she saw her father standing beside the window. His back was on her.
“Father? Charles said you want to talk to me.” She sat on the sofa at the corner of the room.
His father turned to her. There, she saw that he looked serious. Angry.
“How long have you and Mr. Stevens been together?” her father suddenly asked.
She averted her eyes from his. She did not tell anyone in her family that she and Kai were already a couple.
“Answer me.”
“More than a month, Father.” She quietly answered.
She looked at her father. She was not ashamed of her relationship with Kai. She should even brag about it because he loved her.
“Break up with him.” An order.
“What? No!”
Her father did not say anything. He just gave her a follow-me-or-else-look on his face.
She stood, “But why, Father? He loves me and I love him.”
His father turned his back on her. “Just do as I say.”
She mustered all her strength to say, “And If I don’t?”
Dead silence.
“I’ll ruin him.”

“Let’s talk, Emily.”
Her secretary came running, “Sir please you are not allowed to enter. Please leave.”
Kai ignored her secretary and went straight in front of her table. He was just looking at her as if telling her to ask her secretary to leave them.
“It’s Ok, Cathy. You may leave us.” She stood and walked towards the sofa and sat there.
Kai moved towards her like a predator. He looked furious. He sat beside her, and without taking his eyes off her, he asked,
“Why are you not answering my calls? I’ve been waiting for 7 days already! I’ve been coming to your office since then but your secretary told me that you didn’t want to talk to me. Why? Did I do something wrong? Tell me!”
He was actually worried. What if she already knows his plan? Damn.
She looked at him and tears started running down her cheeks.
Kai was surprised to see her crying. He didn’t expect to see her crying. He was about to hug her but she stopped him.
“My father wants me to break up with you.”
Kai clenched his right fist. He looked furious. With a stern voice, he asked her “Do you want to break up with me?”
“No.”
He put his hands on the sides of her shoulders “So, what’s the problem?”
“Father said that he will ruin you if I continue my relationship with you, Kai. I don’t want that.”
“Oh, honey.” He hugged her so tight and put a kiss on her forehead. “Do not worry about me. I am Kai Stevens, have you forgotten? I cannot be easily ruined. Trust me. Besides, I’d rather be ruined than not be with you.”
She looked at him with so much warmth on her eyes. How she loved this sweet and brave man!
Kai could not stop himself anymore. He leaned his face forward and crushed her lips unto his. He’s right.
Her lips fit just right to his.
He let go of her and looked at her flushed face.
“Honey, do you love me?” he asked
She nodded. Emily’s expression was enough for him to believe her but he wanted to hear it straight from her lips. “Do you?”
“I do. I love you, Kai.”
Then with a serious tone, he asked, “Enough to live with me?”
