Everyone slept around the fire that night, Kurt and Archer taking turns to keep the fire fed whilst the other slept.
When morning broke, it brought with it a clear sky and the trickling of sunshine through the opening of the cave.
Eating the remainder of their rations, the Warrior and Alpha emptied out their rucksacks, filling Kurt’s with all of their dirty clothes, Archer keeping his money in a hidden pocket inside his own as they stood up and headed toward the entrance.
‘Children, you stay with mum’ Kurt warned sternly, ‘no exploring until Uncle Alpha and I get back, understand?’
