1360 Words
Cole's P.O.V Ruby has spent the full day at my house, the two of us just hanging out but she left to go to her party which she invited me too, but I told her no, that was not my scene at all. I don't think I will ever go to a party, not somewhere I would fit in very well. I had enjoyed my day with Ruby. I was sort of sad when she went. We had spent the day enjoying the good weather, hanging out with my little sister and brother, Ruby playing with them, my little sister has seemingly taken a liking to Ruby, Ruby never seemed to mind though. "Hey, sweetie do you need anything before your father, and I head to bed?" My mum asked, appearing at my room door. "No, I am OK, thank you, mum." I smiled. "Can we have a quick chat?" She asked. I nodded, not sure what she wanted to talk to me about? My mum came over, sitting down on my bed next to me, and I closed my laptop over that I was doing homework on. "Ruby seems nice." She said, and I soon clicked on to what she wanted to chat about. "Yes, she is." I smiled. "Are you two just friends?" She asked. "Yes, girls like her don't go for guys like me mum. She is too pretty, confident and wild for someone like me. I am not sure why she wants to hang out with me at all, to be honest." I said, being honest. I am very close to family, my mother especially so I can talk to her about anything. "Cole, there is nothing wrong with you. If Ruby never wanted to spend time with you, son, then she wouldn't. The two of you seem to get along well." My mum smiled. "I guess," I said shrugging. My mother said goodnight after that, heading to bed and left me to it. I got back to doing my homework, not feeling very tired yet. I couldn't concentrate right on my homework, Ruby distracting me. I don't even know what was going on. One thing I do know, the more she kisses me, the crazier she makes me, makes me like her but the little voice in the back of my head telling me to be careful around her. I still can't work out why she has taken a sudden interest in me the way she has; she can hang out with anyone…get any guy she wants, that's why I still have my doubts that something is not quite right. I got pulled out of my thoughts when my phone went, a text coming through from Ruby. Ruby: Can you come to get me, please? X   Cole: Are you OK? X   Ruby: Just a little drunk but more cause there is some creep that will not leave me alone, he is freaking me out x I was surprised when she said that, Ruby could usually handle herself well, but then again if she has been drinking it may be different, he may try to take advantage. Cole:  I will be right there. Text me the address x Ruby text me with the details, and I headed out, stopping by my parent's room, knocking the door, them inviting me in. "I need to go get Ruby, she has drunk too much, and some guy is harassing her, is that OK?" I asked. I was honest with them cause I knew they wouldn't judge Ruby on that, they are not those sort of people, they are pretty special my parents. "Of course sweetie but come straight back OK? Is Ruby staying here or you going to take her home?" My father asked. "I am not sure. I will ask her when I pick her up." I said, "Sorry for bothering you both, goodnight." I said, closing the door, letting them get to sleep. I grabbed my car keys, heading out. The house she was at was not too far away, maybe about a ten-minute drive from my house. I went to text her to let her know I was here but noticed she was already outside waiting for me, shoes in hand, dressed in a very short, very tight dress, not leaving much to the imagination. Ruby doesn't need to wear dresses like that to look good, but at the end of the day, that is her choice. I climbed out of the car, going to her. "Hey, you OK Ruby?" I asked. She looked up at me, giving me a small nod and smiling. "Give me a hand up please?" She asked. I nodded, putting my hand to her, Ruby taking and I helped her to her feet. "Thank You for coming to get me," Ruby said. "Anytime. Do you want to go home?" I asked, Ruby, shaking her head, "Wanna come stay at mines? My parents said it is OK if you do?" I added. "Yes, please, and thanks." She said, kissing my cheek. I smiled, feeling my cheeks heat up when she did. The two of us headed to my car, heading back, she was unusually quiet…something was off, but I was not going to ask. I do not want to overstep my mark with her; she would tell me if she wanted too. "Are you hungry? We can grab a pizza on the way back, maybe help soak up the alcohol a little?" I asked. "Yes I could eat…pizza and coffee sounds good right about now," Ruby said, smiling. We stopped by the pizza place, grabbing pizza, curly fries, garlic bread and coffee, heading back to mine. We headed straight upstairs quietly, not wanting to wake anyone up. "Do you have a tee or something I could borrow, this dress is not the most comfortable thing to sit or sleep in?" She laughed. "Yes, do want some joggers too?" I asked, Ruby nodding. I grabbed her a tee and some joggers, turning away to let her get changed. "You can look, I don't mind." Ruby giggled. "That would be very disrespectful of me," I said. "You are too sweet; you can look now, it is safe," Ruby said coming over, sitting on my bed. I turned around, sitting next to her, the food placed on the bed for the two of us to help ourselves to whatever we wanted. I switched the TV on, only for background noise though. "Cole, do you think I am a slut?" Ruby asked suddenly. "Why would you ask me that?" I said. "Everyone seems to think I am…guys seem to think cause I enjoy s*x I will have s*x with anyone." Ruby sighed, running her hands through her hair. I was not sure how to respond to that? I don't want to offend her. I thought for a moment before answering her. "Ruby just because you enjoy s*x it doesn't mean you are a slut. Plus no matter what no guy has the right to expect s*x from you. The world is full of cruel people that get kicks out of making other people feel bad. Don't listen to them." I said. "Why can't more guys be like you, Cole?" Ruby asked, looking at me. I never responded to that question; if I did, I would not have spoken very well about myself. I just shrugged, faking a smile and grabbed a slice of pizza, Ruby following my lead, silence falling between us. "Cole, why have you never had a girlfriend?" Ruby asked. I thought that was obvious why? No girl is interested in a guy like me. "Cause I do not exactly have girls lining up for me. I am not the sort of guy girls go for." I said. "Have you ever tried? Asking a girl out?" she said. "Nope. I can barely speak to girls never mind asking them out. They would say no, anyway." I said. "You speak to me," Ruby said. "I know I do, though I still struggle to even do that sometimes even after the time we have spent together recently," I said, rubbing the back of my neck nervously. "Hmm…I think I need to find a way to get you out of your shell, let me work on it and get back to you." Ruby said, smiling sweetly at me. I nodded, it would need to be some work cause that was not going to be easy, impossible even. I can at least let her try right?
