Chapter 4 As soon as he got home from work Friday evening, Mika made a sandwich and coffee, and then settled down to go through his mother’s scrapbooks. The first one began with sketches he was certain his father had drawn of how he wanted to build the home in the mountains. There were at least a dozen of them, the last in line being his final version. Then there were pages of photos of his father and some of his friends—Mika knew they were because of what his parents had told him—digging out the side of the mountain and constructing the original house.
