A sense of foreboding accompanied me during the entire hour’s drive to Bagdad as well as an odd feeling of isolation when I realized there was no cell service. Winding upward through pristine desert and mountainous terrain, my mind churned through the new and unsettling information shared by Kelly Simms. It turned out that Nelson Trotter‘s infamous reputation as a womanizer was well known to a majority of the other truckers who had crossed paths with him, including Kelly’s husband. Up until his arrest, Nelson Trotter had worked for McKay Enterprises, a large, nationwide trucking company, but he was now freelancing.
Kelly also told me that she had experienced numerous uncomfortable interactions with him in the café and described him as obnoxious, lewd and a lousy tipper.
