CHAPTER TWO
The day that I met Derek and Wyn was the day I let go of a little of my independence and allowed others to help me out.
When I got out of college I was pretty sure that I wanted to go to law school, but being fiercely independent, I decided that I wanted to pay for it myself. My parents had paid for my undergraduate education, and I wanted to let them off the hook. I got a job, and then a part-time one as well, and found the cheapest apartment I could.
I kept both jobs and the cheap apartment for the next few years. I also kept the old Jeep Cherokee that was used and old when my parents gave it to me on my sixteenth birthday. With all my cheapness, I started putting a decent amount of money away. I was a man on a mission.
