Chapter 6 “Where would you like to go eat?” Bay asked when Dirk got into his car a few minutes after five that evening. “I have no clue. I really don’t know the restaurants except for the ones between here and work.” “Okay, what kind of food do you like?” “Honey, nectar, rose petals,” Dirk replied with a straight face. “Hmm, I know a good vegetarian restaurant,” Bay told him, playing along. Dirk shuddered. “Are there any decent steak houses around?” Bay grinned. “Now you’re talking my language.” Not too much later they were seated across from each other at Maxwell’s Surf and Turf, perusing the menus. When the waitress came over, Bay ordered a T-bone, Dirk asked for a filet mignon medium rare, and they decided to split a smoked fish appetizer between them. “What do you think of the
