“HOW MUCH LONGER DO YOU want to stay?” Ivy raked her teeth across her lower lip. She didn’t want to turn down her daughter’s request, but she was running low on money herself.
Sunny’s voice crackled over the phone. “Until the end of summer. That’s when all the best parties are. I can’t miss that.”
Parties. Sunny was suffering from her father’s death as they all were, but she was in denial about their situation. Ivy needed to get through to her. She rubbed her hand across her forehead, calculating the number of weeks. “I can’t afford to keep sending you money. It’s time you came back to the States to find work or make plans to go back to school. We agreed on one month, but it’s been—”
