(Clara’s point of view)
“Where am I?” I managed to say with my scratchy voice. Goliath jumps up awake, sitting up next to me. “Clara, you are in my packs clinic. How are you feeling.”
“Super thirsty.”
He grabs a cup with a straw and brings it to my lips. I drink until the cup is empty, and he puts it down. “Clara I am so sorry for all of this.. I swear I had no idea that things were going to end up this way.”
“I believe you. I can’t say I’m not still confused or that my entire life feels like a lie. I did meet my wolf in my sleep, and I know in my heart she is real. I also could tell she likes you.”
His face goes blank, and his eyes go black. “Goliath?” he blinks a few times, and his eyes go back to normal.
“Sorry my wolf got excited when you said that.”
“Is your wolf always there listening? How does that work?”
“Well we are two souls in one body. We sort of take turns being in control, but we can communicate and help each other out.”
“He came out because he was excited about something I said?”
“You said that your wolf likes us, and your wolf is a part of you, our mate.” He says, smiling.
“Oh yeah! what are mates?”
“We are fated by the moon goddess to be together. That is why we feel tingles and are attracted to each others scents.” This explains a lot, but this makes me feel uneasy.
“What’s wrong, Clara?”
He always knows how I am feeling. “Does that mean my feelings for you aren’t real. They are just made up by a goddess?”
“No Clara your feelings are true. She might show us who our souls match with, but we have the freedom to accept or reject them. If your mate turned out to be abusive or something bad, you won’t be forced to be in love with them. It could still hurt to reject them, but it’s not as bad if you haven’t mated and marked each other.”
“I think I understand, but what is marking each other?”
“We can talk about that later. It is still very early why don’t you get some rest and I will come back for you two when breakfast is ready.”
“Wait where is my mom?”
“She is just in the next room getter some rest. Don’t worry, we can have a meeting after breakfast with my family and yours. Maybe we can get all of your answers taken care of then.”
He gives me a small kiss on the head. “I will be back soon, I promise. I just have a few things to take care of.” He walks out of the room, and I instantly feel alone. I turn around and see Wendy still on the couch. “Wendy!” I whisper yell. She stirs around and wakes up. “Wendy!” She finally realizes what’s going on. “Clara you are awake.”
“Yeah I just had a talk with Goliath. Things are still weird, but I am in a better place than I was last night.”
“Good because this place is amazing. You are going to freak. We are in a huge castle, and there are huge wolves running the fields. I can’t wait till you see it. Also, thank me for not letting anyone change you into a hospital gown.”
“Crap Wendy, what do I have to wear?” I look down seeing I am still wearing my dress from last night. My makeup must be smeared. Oh, I must look awful.
She scoots off the couch and pulls a bag from the corner.
“Here!” she hands it to me. I take it and run to the bathroom. I actually feel self-conscious about looking bad in front of Goliath. Wow, the bathroom is gorgeous. There is even a shower in here. I pang my head out the door, and Wendy is going through my phone. “There is a shower in here, Wendy.” “Yeah, I may have taken one when the doctors left.” I bounce back in the bathroom. I showered in hot water and it was fantastic. I dig through the bag and find lingerie? “Wendy!” I hear her snickering. I pop my head out the door. “What were you thinking?” “I was thinking you might forgive that hunk of a boyfriend you have. Ok, also , he may have some hunky guy friends.” I get back in the bathroom and decided to just slip on some boy shorts and a long shirt. I walk back into the room and get into bed. “Wendy will you sleep next to me?”
“Absolutely!” She gets in, and we both drift off to sleep together.
