I stood by the window waiting, looking out on stars and city lights. I hugged myself close, feeling the soft silk of my red jacquard robe, its smooth surface caressing me gently in a way I needed to be caressed. I left the door unlocked, thinking Reggie would just let himself in and he did. When I sensed his soft approach behind me, I was able to smile to myself.
