Dear Journal,
I have been with the Night Howler pack almost all summer, Uncle Dominic is flying in today to pick me up. Grandpa Carlos, note I stopped calling him Gampa because I’m just too old for such childish talk, he is sad to see me go. I know I bring his heart joy, and I am so saddened by the fact no matter how hard I have looked, he doesn’t have a 2nd chance mate. I can’t watch him go through the rest of his life alone, but his destiny was with Grandma Valderez. I vowed to him when I was still unborn I would heal the whole in his heart her death left, but I am no closer to figuring out how. Guess there is only so much an almost 14-year-old can do even with my gifts. I was able to help Aunt Charlie scan a whole section of the big library on to the database, and now about 25% is available online. Unfortunately, not one of those books helped, there is not a single reference to my Lycan color and I am getting weirded out. My cousins are now not mad that I will take the throne one day and be Alpha Queen of all Lycan, mainly because I made them see what Grandpa goes through and how beyond boring his days are with meetings. They thought it would be fun and fighting, but it’s just overseeing the Council and keeping them from yelling at each other. Sort of a glorified babysitter or school principal, not what they consider a good time, so they are so happy that I am willing to step up when the time comes.
Well, I’m home at Full Moon and Mom is pumping me for information I got at the library. I brought her a brand new tablet that has a copy of the database, so she can read all of it to her heart’s content. I got her to agree to let me go back and help Aunt Charlie again next summer as well. I am heading to bed because I am tired of this search. Night.
Dear Journal,
Sorry, it’s been a while since I wrote anything in you. This past year has been crazy!! Mom turned 30 and the prank this year my siblings and I did absolutely nothing. All-day she was walking around on eggshells waiting for whatever we had up our sleeves and we didn’t do anything. Man, was she surprised, just wait until next year – HA, HA, HA! I was allowed to go and spend my summer with the Night Howler pack again and Aunt Charlie and I were able to get another 25% of the library scanned. Believe me, that is a full-time job considering how big and full of books it is, think of a building the size of the Tower of London and then fill it from top to bottom all the way out to surrounding walls. That is a little smaller than the main Lycan library, but something most people can search for easily. I made another disk of the scanned material and Mom is over the moon to be able to read it all. Yes, I did read everything already and am still no closer to finding out about my Lycan.
I’m 15 today and Chris is thrilled we only have 1 more year to go before we can legally drive outside of pack lands. Uncle Jordan and I have started the real restoration job on the Trans Am we used last year to prank Mom since the parts have finally came in. It took forever for us to find an engine that would fit, so we are MacGyvering (yes that is a word) the engine for a 69 Camaro and going to soup it up. Since the garage is heated we can work on it all through winter. I’m hoping it will be done in time for me to get my “learner’s permit”.
Dear Journal,
It’s almost summer and I have another sibling. Mom gave birth to the cutest little boy pup there is, Simon, and I told her he is MINE. I only let her have him when it’s time to feed him since I can’t breastfeed my own brother – gross. She’s cool with it and Sammie is as in love with Simon as I am, and since I’m not greedy, I let her hold and play with him too. Especially when he needs a diaper change or is fussy. We have spent time in his mind passing on all we know to his Lycan so that when he shifts he will be so far ahead of his older brothers they will look like CHUMPS. Payback is the Warmder Daughters, we told them to stop teasing us for all these years and now they will feel our wrath, kinda. I’m super bummed that Mom won’t let me take Simon with me to Grandpa Carlos’ when I go for the summer, but she and Dad are going to fly us there so that Grandpa, Aunt Charlie, and Uncle Trevor can spend some time with all of us for about a week before they have to go home to deal with “pack issues”. Chris is going to spend this summer shadowing Dad while he’s in his office working and Sammie is going to be with Mom to learn the “ways of the Luna”. They have agreed to let Jared stay with me at Night Howlers this summer so that he can focus on his warrior training with Grandpa Carlos, the most bestest warrior trainer there ever was. I will be spending most of my time in the library again and Mom is so excited to see it firsthand. This year, I will be focusing on the oldest books I can find in the “Ancient Texts” section because I have spent the last winter learning how to read Latin to see if I can understand any of the books there. I will still have to learn several other languages, but it’s all good since my 2.0 wants to be well versed in every written or spoken language in existence. I brought my permit with me just in case I can talk one of my “Royal” guards to let me drive off pack lands, maybe I can see if I can sweet-talk them into letting me drive around in one of those huge SUVs they like so much.
