4: Date

*** Posters of the school's upcoming dance filled the entire hall. Why was it such a big deal? Wasn't it just a dance? "Who are you going with to the dance?" Ren asked, taking a bite of her sandwich. "Your boyfriend?" I rolled my eyes at her. "You know I can't go with him." "I know, I was only teasing you." She smirked, opening her locker while I shut mine. "Who are you going with?" I wondered. "My new boyfriend, Jack Stone." She shrugged, taking out her books from the locker. "New boyfriend, uh?" I smirked. "Hey, babe." I pivoted to the sound of Sage's voice. She was once again with her minions who looked like barbie had just puked on them. I could only recall the name of one out of 6 of them, 'Sarah'. They waved at me and I was polite enough to return it. "Sup." I acknowledged her greeting. "Will you be going to the dance?" She stood in akimbo, making dramatic gestures with her hands, as always. "Yeah, why not?" "I mean, do you have a date? I won't have you going to the dance without one." She reached for a few strands of my dark brown hair, shoving it away from my face. "She doesn't have to have a date." Ren slammed her locker shut, stepping forward. "What?!" All the ladies, except one of them, exclaimed. "Common," Sarah stepped forward, flipping her long black hair over her shoulder. "Going to the dance? Without a date?" She huffed. "That is so—" "—NOT COOL." The other ladies completed. Why were they all so dramatic? "Let's sort things out." Sage stepped even closer. "I'm literally the most popular girl in this school, which means I have boys over me anytime. Plus, I'm a rich man's daughter and I'm hot." She listed proudly. What was the point of doing that? "What I'm trying to say is that I can easily match you with the most suitable guy, because you're my best friend." "Uh... thank you, but no." I refused. Two of the ladies walked up to my side, holding my shoulders with pity for me shimmering in their eyes. "We know it's hard to be without a boyfriend at this stage in your life and we're willing to help you." What was wrong with them all? They needed to help themselves instead. "Hi, girls." A familiar masculine voice called behind us. The girls pulled away from me, turning their head to Kye, already swooning over him. Seriously? Weren't they aware of the fact that he was Sage's Boyfriend or something? "Thank goodness you're here. Kye, we need your help." Sage walked to him, holding his shoulders while he held her waist. "Anything for my babe." "My poor friend here doesn't have a date to the dance," Sage explained, wearing a sad look. "I can be of help, I'll find her a date among any of my friends." He winked at me. "No, I want you to be her date to the Dance." Okay what now? "He's your boyfriend, sweetie." Sarah reminded her of that. "I know. I can always find a new date anytime. Please, we're more like friends with benefit, not faithful partners." She rolled her eyes, waving her hand. "It sounds cool, I can be Tris' date." He let go of her and shifted closer to me, wrapping his arm around my neck. "She's hot." As cliche as it may seem, Denver seemed to appear out of nowhere explicable and clearly heard Kye. As he headed in our direction, I could see the jealousy that blazed in his river blue eyes. I immediately squirmed out of Kye's arm around my neck, faking a smile. "Oh my gosh, Mr. Crosby." Sarah and Sage squeaked, turning to him with their chests puffed out and their hips jutted to the side. They wiggled their fingers at him. "Hi, Mr. Crosby." They said in unison, fluttering their eyelashes. Denver only took his eyes off me, obviously forcing a smile at them and acknowledged their greeting, walking past us. "I hope you're a good dancer, because you better be." Kye smirked, raking his black hair with his fingers. "Yes, I am." I nodded, turning to Ren's locker but was surprised to see she wasn't there anywhere. I whirled around. How in the world did she leave without me noticing? "I have to go now. Bye." "We're so happy for you now that you have a date." One of the ladies said. "And he's a really hot one," another added. I nodded. "Thank you." I scurried out of their sight in search of Ren. *** "Do you have to stay overnight?" Jayana asked, furrowing her forehead. "It's not my fault. Aeryn insists on staying with Denver overnight. I might leave her there and return home, if time permits." I shrugged, knowing that was the perfect excuse. "I'll miss you both." She pouted. I laughed at her. "It's just for one night." "I know. Be careful, baby." She patted my head, turned to Aeryn at the backseat. "Love you." "Love you too." She grinned at her. Her honey eyes shimmered with so much excitement. It was clearly a great thing for her to spend the night at Denver's. I opened the car door, stepping out of it then opened the door to the backseat for Aeryn. She held my hand, then I helped her out of the car, taking out our bags. "Bye." Jayana waved. "Bye." We both waved at her. She started the car, zooming out of sight. "Daddy," Aeryn said to herself, her excitement couldn't be hidden a bit. I chuckled, leading us to the door. Ignoring the presence of the doorbell, I went for a knock instead. After the third knock, I heard sounds of footsteps from the other side of the door. Soon enough, the sound of the door being unlocked was heard and it was pulled inwards. Denver stood by the now-open door, in his singlet and shorts, showing off his 'to-die-for' muscular figure. He looked bored and tired but his eyes lit up when he took in our view but he frowned again when his eyes locked with mine. He permitted us inside, securing the door lock. "You're sleeping over, right?" He took our bags from me. "Yes. Daddy, I have a lot to tell you." Aeryn started, skipping towards the couch. "I know you do, I'm more than prepared to hear everything you have to say." He frowned at me again, ignoring me then walked to the couch, as well as me. What was that for? "Let's go to the room?" She asked. "Sure, why not?" "Yeah, I was going to suggest that, I need to stretch out my body." I got to my feet, then Aeryn did the same, as well as Denver, taking our bags. We walked up the stairs and to Denver's room. He shut the door then dropped our bags on one of the two chairs in his room. Aeryn ran to the bed, climbing on it and began jumping for no good reason. "Aeryn, quit doing that!" I snapped. "Take off your shoes and sit." I scolded.. She dropped to sit on it, hanging her head low. "I'm sorry." She apologized. "It's okay." Denver helped her take off her shoes. "I can't wait to hear all you have to say." He plopped himself on the bed. She grinned again, rolling over to him. "I think I'll leave you two, I still have to complete my homework because some people like someone here wouldn't spare us from homework." I glared at him at the mention of 'someone'. "Everytime? I wanna tell you too." She pouted. "Ivy, she has to do her homework, let her go. I'm here to listen to you, don't worry. And I'll listen to you all night long." He assured. She squealed, doing a slight happy dance. All night long? She was going to fall asleep anytime soon. "I'll make us something to eat after I'm done with all my homework." I walked up to the bags, bringing out my books and phone then left the room for the living room. I spent about an hour and a half doing nothing but school work and studying. After I was done, I arranged my books on the table, sprinted to the kitchen. There were packaged cookies so I served them to a plate. I returned to Denver's room with the plate of cookies. Aeryn was no longer here so I assumed she had slept and Denver had taken her to the room that was specifically designed for her. "Hey." I grinned, locking the door. "You want cookies?" "Drop them on the table." He gruffed, keeping his eyes on his phone. I quirked an eyebrow at him, dropped the plate on the table and walked up to him on the bed, stopping right in front of him with my hands crossed over my chest. "What's with the frowning and grumpiness?" I asked, wearing a frown. He raised his head from his phone, still frowning. "You've forgotten?" "What do you mean?" I grew more confused. "That boy, Kye, I think…" he trailed off. "You don't remember how his arm was around you and he called you hot?" He snorted. My lips quirked into a lopsided grin. "Is that seriously why you're mad at me?" I shook my head. He sighed, running his hand over his face, dropped his phone on the bedside table. He sat up straight in bed so he could pull me closer to him. "You know I don't like it. I'm your boyfriend, and things like that definitely pisses me off." I chuckled, hugging his head to my stomach. "It's so cute when you're jealous, but you should be careful, people might start to get suspicious when they notice the jealousy glistening in your eyes." "I know." He heaved a sigh. "I just can't help it. I love you." "I guess I should be mad at almost every girl in High School too, because most of them call you hot." I shrugged. He let out a throaty laugh, pulling me to sit beside him. "I guess you should." He embraced my waist. "Once again, you've grown so much, in everything. He wasn't wrong, you're hot." "I'm so lucky to have you." I admitted. "Me too. And it's all thanks to Ivy. Some accidents were just meant to be." He smirked, crashing his lips against mine. The feeling of his lips against mine made mine burn with desire. They melted every bit of me in so many ways, I couldn't get enough of him. The kiss deepened into a french kiss; our tongues twisted together as I tasted every inch of his mouth, loving how his tongue felt in my mouth. My hands went to his neck, while his were still on my waist. I pushed him to lay his back on his bed, feeling every of my internals burning more for him. His hands slid under my shirt, caressing my bare back lovingly. That sent a series of sparks to flow through me, there was a twitch in my vulva at his touch. My body went on top of him, I was more and more alive until Denver broke the kiss. That was my Denver, always stopping things before they led to something else. He flipped me over, making me have my back on the bed. "Easy there, girl." He smirked, giving me a peck and sat up straight. I moaned in complaint, also sitting up straight. "You're such a mood ruiner. Why do you always stop things when they almost get interesting? I'm 18 now, very qualified for advance stages. He laughed boisterously at me, rising to his feet. "You're such a bad student. I'm your teacher, remember? We can't have you missing school for a year again and making me lose my job due to Ivy number 2." "Ivy number 2? Why do you even care if you lose your job? Isn't your family one of the richest families in the country or the world?" I rolled my eyes. "My family, not me." He half-shrugged. "Forget it, I know you have a huge share in their wealth. You're worth billions, should you care about a mere teaching job?" A roll of my eyes accompanied that. "You don't understand." He sat beside me. "I have passion for teaching. I had been trying my best to apply for a teaching job but I've always been discouraged by family and friends. This is a really great chance for me to finally do what I love, I can't risk losing it. Please understand that and support me." I stared at him with a blank expression. "I understand. I promise not to ruin your passion for teaching." "Thanks for understanding." He kissed my forehead. "We still have to be extra careful, okay?" "Yeah, whatever." "Good. Rather than some boring cookies, there's Chinese food I can place in the microwave to enjoy then maybe watch a movie together." "Sounds like fun to me." I simpered, giving him a peck. "I'll be back in a jiffy." He scuttled out of the room. I took off my slippers, laid on the bed, resting my head on the pile of soft pillows. After a few minutes, Denver's phone began to ring from the bedside table. I chose to ignore it but it didn't stop ringing. With a groan, I sat up straight and picked it up from the bedside table, slipping my feet into my slippers. I noticed the caller ID: Ruth Martinez. Wasn't that Miss Ruth, our American History teacher? The call ended then the phone chimed, and a message popped on the screen from Miss Ruth. *Babe, I'm glad you're finally back…* the message continued. What in the world was that? My curiosity made me click on the pop-up to lead to the full message. I remembered Denver had added my fingerprints to his phone a few months back, luckily he hadn't removed it, permitting me to read the full message. *... I always knew you were going to come back for me. I love you more than you love me, hun.* There were previous similar messages from her too. My brain exploded in my skull at that. I felt the vein in my neck pop out, my jaw and fists clenched, my face contorted to a point. What in the world?! Just when I was about to rise to my feet and storm to meet him, he appeared by the door with a smile on. His smile slipped, taking in my expression. His river blue eyes travelled to his phone in my hand and they popped out of their sockets. "Oh no."
