(Narah POV)
The banquet hall was beautiful. It revolved around a theme of cream and white. The tables were filled with mouth watering food and a huge white 6 layer cake.
The ceiling was rich gold contrasting the marble white floor.
Everything was beautiful and magical.
Oh, didn’t I say what was going on?
It's my marriage.
No, it's not a marriage with someone I love. Yes, this is a forced marriage.
And that is why I decided on one thing.
This is going to be a marriage that I am going to run away from. Or at least die trying.
It is better to die than marry him.
Who is him you ask?
My eyes drifted to the man in front of me. He wore a dark red and black suit, something that is exactly opposite to the theme of this event. The man always likes to show off his extravagant nature.
The griffin king of Lagoen. One of the strongest species to rule in the magical world. Someone we can't fight against no matter what.
He is powerful, he is dark, and he feels happy seeing other people suffer. He feeds on emotion and he is possessive and greedy if he ever likes something he laid his eyes on.
That was how he decided to make me his.
I shouldn’t have sneaked out to the forest alone. I shouldn’t have decided to take a nap next to the lake. I shouldn’t have trusted a random man who tried to be friends with me.
Now I am trapped. I perked his interest and he decided to take me as his wife.
"Today we celebrate the harmony bonding of the great and powerful Lord Griffin, King Darcio, and the youngest illegitimate daughter of King Ace of the kingdom of Phelias." The elder said as I winced, closing my eyes.
Illegitimate daughter. I hate that word. All my life I have been shamed for being the illegitimate daughter when I should be the real one.
My mother who was bearing me was supposed to marry her mate, my father, and be his queen but a month before it, my stepmother walked into the court claiming to hold the eldest children to the throne.
According to our rules, the king must marry the queen who has the eldest one who will hold the throne.
My father's drunken mistake.
So in the end my mother had to step aside and give the throne to Vanessa, my stepmother and I became the illegitimate child.
While giving birth to me, my mother died leading to my father's mental misbalance. He blamed himself for her death and the loss of his mate along with the guilt made him weak. My stepmother took over the throne along with her brother.
While my father was trapped inside his room, I was treated as a disgrace. Look down upon, made to feel like a mistake.
Especially by my lovely elder siblings- Valier and Valeria. They are crowned next on the throne and they made sure I knew it every single second.
The only people that actually loved me were the commoners.
At the age of 6, my powers have risen. When I changed to my ninetail, everyone was surprised.
I was a pure ninetail. Known around the world as the blessed one. But in my kingdom, my so-called family decided to change their fate and call me the cursed one.
Why? Because I had uncontrolled power and is a big threat to destroying the kingdom. They spread about how dangerous I am and made the commoners feared me.
Each day made me feel exhausted and fed up.
My father was the only one who kept me sane. He encouraged me to live through this and one day fight for the throne. Fight for my people.
But now….
"Narah" a voice dark and fearful called my name snapping me out of my thought. "What are you thinking? Say your line" the griffin king, Darcio growled his face filled with anger.
I gulped as my eyes roamed around the room. I was going to escape and I was going to escape with the help of someone.
"I…." I stumbled with my line. If I say the line, the vow will be complete and what is left is the marking ceremony.
Once that happens I am forever trapped.
"FAST!" the griffin king shouted impatiently. The audience around was silent as they watched the scene. I knew most of them pitied me.
Cursed one or not, this is like selling yourself to a devil.
"I…"
*Crash*
A loud sound filled inside the hall making everyone scream.
"What the hell is happening!!?" Darcio shouted, his eyes now glowing a dangerous red. Another blast filled the air and this time it was close to the altar.
Both the griffin and I had to jump out away from our place. I fell on my knees but almost immediately got up and ran through the backside. Using my magic, I store the bottom half of the beautiful satin wedding gown and threw away my veil.
Once again an explosion filled the air and the whole building was covered in smoke.
"Narah!" a familiar voice rose before a hand grabbed hold of my wrist and pulled me to the side.
"Caspian!" I shouted as a boy with tanned skin and striking gold eyes smiled and nodded.
"Sorry I was late"
"Better late and nothing" I replied as he laughed.
"What the plan?" I asked making him give me a smirk.
"You die"
My eyes widen as he used took out a figure made of stone.
"A puppet?! Where did you get that?" I was shocked on seeing this. It was one of the hardest magic to make and only a very little skilled craftsman can make it.
"I have my ways"
With this, he closed his eyes and chanted a spell before throwing it to the ground. The puppet immediately turned to a full-size figure. It looked exactly like me.
At his command, it ran to the middle of the room.
A powerful set of wind blew around the hall before the smoke cleared.
The griffin king was in his half form, his huge powerful wings fanning and clearing the fog.
"Narah" he growled as his eyes fell on the puppet.
"I don’t want this!" the puppet repeated what Caspian said. "I will die rather than marry you!" he continued to make the puppet play according to his will.
The puppet followed his words and replicated his movements.
He then started to chant a puppet command spell before opening his eyes. They glowed a beautiful gold as he muttered the next word.
"Destroy"
Almost immediately the puppet started to glow white. Caspian added his magic to make the destroying spell more like mine.
"No! What are you doing!?" Darcio shouted but before he could reach the puppet, the thing exploded sending everyone around her flying backward.
The place where the puppet was now empty, only a burn mark.
"Come on. Let's get the hell out of this place"
Caspian grabbed hold of my hand before using his royal seal and teleporting us to his kingdom.
From that moment Princess Narah died. From then onwards I was Caspian's lost younger sister.
Outside the palace, I would disguise myself with the help of magic. There I am known as Cassandra. But it uses most of my energy so, inside the palace, I am in my true self. Well, that is unless some outsider comes and visits.
My identity is kept secret and only known to the palace officials who vowed with their life to not reveal it to others.
But what I didn't expect to meet is my destined half. All my life I thought I have to live my life alone.
But now...
"And who is she?" he asked as his beautiful forest green eyes stared into mine.
"Narah" Without thinking I voiced out shocking Caspian. He wore a confused face but quickly covered it before turning to the Earth king.
"Yes, her name is Narah. She is my sister".
Well s**t.
