Narah: His Ninetail In Disguise

Chapter 5

(Narah POV)

Tristan groaned moving the 'car' an inch forward.

"Why is there so much traffic?" he grunted as he rolled down the glass attached to the car's door and looked out.

"What happened?" Tristan's voice rose, grabbing my attention. He was talking to someone outside.

"Some kind of accident" the man outside said after which Tristan thanked him and rolled up the glass.

"It seems like it will take a while," he said turning to me.

"How long?"

"I don’t know for sure."

I could only nod as I look at the left side.

"Why don’t we use that space?" I asked pointing to a slightly raised platform.

"Huh? That one?" he raised his eyebrow, his face turning to that of amusement.

"That is called a walkway. You can't drive through that place. It's for walking only"

"Oh," I said before looking at him.

"Then let's walk?"

"And what do we do with the car?" he asked making me frown.

"Can't we leave it here?"

This time he burst into fits of laughter.

"What?" I asked confused at his behavior.

"You can't leave the car in the middle of the road, Narah," he said between his laugh.

I decided to stay silent. I realized I am only embarrassing myself. I turned to face outside and just stayed like that.

"You are really adorable, Narah," he said making my head snap in his direction.

"what?" I stuttered.

"Nothing," he said before looking forwards with a huge smile.

I stared at him with wide eyes, my face flushed red.

He only gave me a small handsome smile.

A part of me was very happy. He genuinely loves and cares about me. He wants us to be perfect mates.

But the other part of me? It was devastated. I can't be with him. I can't put his life at risk. I don’t know how long I can hide from the griffin king.

I know the earth king is strong but how strong? Are they strong enough to overcome one of the largest and the strongest kingdoms? Now they have even allied with my land which is also considered one of the strongest kingdoms.

Suddenly music filled the air. Tristan sighed as I took something out of his pocket. It was black and rectangular with a white screen in the middle.

The words 'MOM' was written on the screen along with a long series of number and 'Slide to Answer' below it.

He slid his thumb through the screen before putting it in the ear.

"Hey, mom. We are on our way." He said.

My eyes widen as I heard a female voice coming from the other side.

"Yes. Yes. About half an hour. Alright, see you then"

With that, he took the thing out of his hand and tapped on it.

"What is that?" I asked as he was going to put it back in his pocket.

"This?" he raised the thing in the air as I nod.

He stared at me for a few seconds before giving me a small smile.

"A mobile. You can use it to communicate with someone far away from you" he replied as I stared at the so called mobile. "It's also something we, earth dwellers made as a replacement for your fire messages and all"

"Don’t you have mind link?" I asked with a frown. I have heard earth shifters can connect with each other in their mind.

"Yes, I can but we just don't. We usually use a mobile to communicate. Besides there are many people here who can't do mind links."

After that, he talked a lot about the earth. He told me about his home and how he is the 'Alpha' and not the king. He told me how there are many 'packs' like his in different parts of the world.

Apparently, their ruling is not hereditary like ours. The representer of the earth is done by election where the entire pack leader elects the leader once every 100 years.

"The ruler who shows worthy of their power is elected to represent the earth. They are titled the king until his end or till he is unable to attend as an efficient leader. And in such cases election is once again made" he said making me nod.

He talked about his pack custom and rank.

Nothing- I repeat NOTHING is similar to ours. They live their life completely different from ours. It was really fascinating hearing about this.

Why didn’t I hear these from Caspian?

'Well maybe because you never show interest' my inner conscious decided to intervene and remind me.

I should have paid attention to Caspian. Whenever he comes back from earth, he would talk about the experience he had.

Most times I would just walk out. His mom was always fascinated by earth.

I on the other hand didn’t bother about it. My head was always filled with being stronger and better so I could return Caspian's kindness by being useful and at the same time protect myself.

But I would always hear him say how completely opposite they are to us. While we are magically advanced, earth is technically advanced.

"Narah" I heard my mate call. I hummed and turned to him as he stopped the car.

"We reached our destination." He said with a smile. I looked in the direction he was pointing.

There was a large gate which was opening. Once it opened we drove inside. On passing through a few guards came out and gave a respectful bow.

The drive after that was another 5 minutes. We were surrounded by trees.

"That was the border of our pack. The whole of the perimeter is fully under our control. More like a private forest. Our pack ground has everything. Groceries, hospitals, and other necessaries." He explained.

"There, see that? That’s the pack"

He pointed to the left. I could see series of lights coming from the direction. It was slowly becoming clearer as we moved closer.

Finally, I could see the huge buildings. He stopped in front of a huge pillar and turned to me with a full born excited smile.

"Welcome to North Astraeus Pack"
