Chapter 2 The door to my room opened, hitting the wall with a loud bang, making me jump. The evening session for visiting hours had ended some time ago, not that I’d had anyone come to see me after I’d run Mum and Dad off that morning. No one had been to my room all day other than the silent worker who dropped off my lunch and dinner. Not even the nurses had been back, finally giving me the peace and quiet I’d thought I wanted, leaving me alone to stew in my thoughts. Smiling at this sign I hadn’t been forgotten, I said, ‘Hello?’ ‘Miss Gregory, I’m Detective Johnson from the Easton Police Department. I’d like to have a word with you.’ The detective’s voice was hard, cold. ‘What is it? Is it my parents? Are they okay?’ A shiver swept over me. ‘I’m not here about your parents. I’m her
