Chapter 5: The Misfits

My brows furrow at Beta Derek's response. That was weird, right? Maybe I should ask.
Angel: You should, I get the sense that these are really good guys."
I take a deep breath, I don't know where all this courage is coming from but I go with it.
Abril: Derek, you weren't there, or I would have had smelled you. What is going on?"
Derek: Ok you caught me. Our pack Blue Creek is full of misfits. We each hold a unique ability, usually pertaining to the 4 elements. The royal line get 2 abilities, 1 of the elements and something else. Could be anything really. I can read minds. Jax here can tell you his."
I am surprised, but I feel like I can trust him. I think about what my mom said before she passed. It would make sense.
Abril: Were you born with these abilities? How does this work? My mom said something about becoming powerful if I found my mate...."
King Jax: That is right. If you find your mate and they accept and love you, you will get abilities. It doesn't happen over night, but they will come."
I nodded my head, encouraging him to go on.
King Jax: You are my second chance mate, I do have an ability and no one knows why. Crissy left me shortly after getting together, I got my ability and she rejected me in front of everyone at her Luna ceremony. I accepted her rejection because i was rather be alone than with someone who doesn't want me. My ability is that I can look into someones eyes and see their memories and I am a fire weilder."
He looked so sad talking about his first mate that I want to find her and yell at her for causing this. I stand up and give him a hug. I couldn't see his sad face any more and wanted him to smile for the rest of our days.....did I just say that? Can I really stay with them?
Abril: Can I really stay with you?"
I'm not sure when Derek left, but it was just the King and I in the room.
King Jax: Yes, you can. Lets get us some food and get your stuff moved. I don't trust anyone else by Derek and I so we will have a lot of work to do."
I gasp.
Abril: Well, I don't have many things....but I didn't cook any food so there won't be anything to eat. I probably should head to the kitchen and start getting lunch and dinner started."
King Jax: What do you mean? Derek and I will protect you and take you out for breakfast. Then you can show us to your room and we will see how much stuff you have."
I just shrug and go along with it. I follow him out of the room and there is Derek leaning on the opposite wall.
Derek: Ready, lovebirds?"
We head out front and I drop to my knees and scream!
Trev: WHERE THE f**k ARE YOU! YOU ARE A SLAVE FOR ME!!!!!! GET YOUR ASS BACK IN THE KICHEN OR YOU WILL BE THROWN IN THE DUNGEON FOR 3 WEEKS AND EACH MALE WILL MATE YOU AND DO WHATEVER THEY PLEASE!"
He cuts off the link, and now I am sulking. Here I thought I could live a normal life, but It just isn't in the cards.
King Jax: What happened? Derek?"
Derek: Alpha Trev mind linked her and is pissed because she isn't doing her duties and threatened her. His exact words were, where the f**k are you. you are a slave for me. Get your ass back in the kitchen or you will be thrown in the dungeon for 3 weeks and each male will mate you and do whatever they please."
King Jax: There have been a change of plans. Derek, summon The Alpha and his family and the elders, I have an announcement to make."
