My wolf was so happy earlier, it growled in joy when it scented her. Her scents alone were intoxicating, she scents strawberries, roses, and fountain water. Her heavy breathing was enough to make me understand that she was frightened but she did not scent right. I thought she was a rogue at first and discovered that she wasn't. She is different, very different. Her scent was one of a vampire in roses and fountain water.

After ten lonely years, I was able to find her, I was able to see her. Why am I so unlucky? She was right in front of me, yet I was unable to see her face or know her name. The moment of our encounter is different from the stories my father told me when I was young. I had expected my mate to be a werewolf of another pack or maybe a human, not a vampire. The most alarming part is the scent of my mate near Amy's coffin ground.

The coffin ground is now a hole that was dug up by vampires, which means my mate is somehow with Amy. I should have focused on catching the other vampires and not sniffing her scents that were hung in the air. Her being rescued by a male vampire made me boil in anger and I agree with my Beta that I took the wrong step for the first time in my life.

"You should have let me take control and I would have been able to catch up with the male vampire, then cut off his head in victory." My mate, Moses growled as I ignored it, leaving it murmurs filled with anger

I heard a knock at the door and I dropped the bottle of whiskey

"I am busy" I spoke and heard a short cough.

"Damien" I heard and faced mom who was standing beside the door.

"With this condition, you are in, you should be resting now, mum," I explained and she assisted her to sitting on the chair

"I know, I just miss talking to you" she replied with a cough. I grabbed the jug of water that had been on the table and poured little water into the cup. I handed the cup of water to her and she gulped it with a smile

"Are you getting better now?"

"Yes, I am" she coughed and glared at the bottle of whiskey before facing me

"I heard about the vampire's invasion and Amy's missing coffin. Do you think they want that traitor to rule?" Mum asked in despair

"Maybe, they do" I replied

"You look disturbed. Are you troubled?"

"Not at all" I lied to make her not worry about it

"Is your wolf not being calm?"

"I'm an Alpha, not a baby. It is perfectly calm"

"Then why will you get engaged in drinking?"

"Do not worry, mum. I'm alright. I am the one who is supposed to be worried about you"

"Get a Luna then, if that is what is troubling you," mother said with a higher voice level

"I will make my mate my Luna, we just have to wait for a few days. I will get her to this pack, I promisee" I said to calm her down

"This is the same thing you kept saying for the past ten years"

"Mum, try to understand"

"I don't want to understand. Get a Luna, that's all

"Mum!!" I yelled.

"You raised your voice at me?" She exclaimed and started to cough profusely

"Mum, are you alright?" I spoke but she continued to cough

"Call the pack doctor to my room, right now!" I mind-linked my Beta and focused on helping my mother out of her continuous coughing. I handed a cup of water to her and this time, the cough became severe. I look laid mother on the bed, with her head balanced on a pillow.

"Where is the damn pack doctor?!" I yelled and the door opened widely. Beta Sunny walked in with the pack doctor. The pack doctor gave her a drug and a cup of water which she used quickly. In a few minutes, her cough reduced and I was relieved. I sat next to her, on the bed, and held her hand, touching mainly her palm. I was so scared earlier, I thought I was going to lose her.

"She needs more rest and also needs to use her drugs at the right time," the pack doctor spoke

"I will escort you outside." My Beta replied and he left the room with the doctor.

"How do you feel now?" I asked mum and she shoved my hand from hers.

"Don't talk to me. How dare you raise your voice at your mother?" She replied and faced the other side

"I apologize, it would never happen again"

"I am very sure that it will happen again. Every Alpha has a Luna, but yours is different. Even if an Alpha has no Luna, he should have a concubine and a pup already." Mum spoke in a low tone as I understood what she wanted all along

"So the reason for your visit is to speak about having a grandchild, right?"

"What else would I come here to do? I am getting older each day, I don't want to die without seeing my grandchildren" she said and I laughed

"Give me more time"

"Well, there is no time for excuses. Ann, the daughter of Alpha Festus will be having lunch with us today so I will give you both time to talk it through or maybe start thinking of your future together"

"I don't see any future with that rotten Ann. No way!"

"Well, she will be here any minute now"

"It's best you cancel the lunch invitation"

"I won't," Mum said and the door barged open. The air in the room made me feel uncomfortable. It was like five paints of perfume were poured into the room

I sighted a lady with red hair walking majestically into the room. The lady is Ann, she had sunglasses on her face and she was in a red thin gown. I should have known, rotten brat. I've heard a lot about her, she is a great warrior from age seventeen. Ann won twelve battles in a year and had been ranked the most beautiful she-wolf with great fighting skill and no mate.

"Mother-in-law, how do you feel now? Are you better?" Ann spoke as I took in her statement with disbelief

"Hehe" I coughed and Ann faced me

"Hi hubby"

"You barged into the room and pretend not to see me" I spoke

"Well, this is also my room now and I did not pretend" she replied and mum held her hand as she sat up

"Is your father here also?" Mother asked and Ann nods

"I will leave you both now," Mum said with a smile plastered on her face as she walked out of the room. Earlier, she was coughing profusely in a disturbing manner, now she is acting happy.

"So you must be Alpha Damien," Ann said as she approached me and sniffed

"You don't scent bad though" she spoke

"I know I don't. Try to reduce the amount of perfume you spray in a day, you are kind of choking me" I coughed and she smiled

"The only reason you are ignoring me is because of her, right?" Ann said as she sat on a chair

"Her? Who?"

"Your mate"

"Of course"

"Don't you realize that she does not want to be with you?"

"What do you mean?"

"Your mate is supposed to be a she-wolf or human, not a vampire that scents of fountain water" I covered her mouth immediately.

"How did you know?" I asked her in shock

"That is not what you should be bothered about. You should be thinking of how to abscond"

"You know a lot, dear. And you should keep it in you"

"I will keep it a secret only if you help me"

"I won't"

"If the pack finds out about your mate being a vampire, you will be called a bastard. You will be an outcast then you will be banned from coming back to the pack"

"What do you want me to do? I will do anything"

"It's simple, make me your Luna"
