Chapter 8: The visit.
I was standing in front of the large wooden doors to Olivia and Nico's home. I clenched my fists in hopes of keeping my rage at bay so I wouldn't take it out on the wrong person and took a deep breath as I rang the bell to the large mansion. I could hear it chime throughout the house and not a second later was the entrance being opened to me.
"May I help you sir." An older gentleman dressed in a butler's suit addressed me.
"I… umm…" I cleared my throat. "I need to speak to Nico."
The old man held his nose up while his eyes looked down at me and he c****d an eyebrow. "Right this way, sir." He moved aside to let me pass and I entered.
The mansion didn't look the same when it wasn't filled with bodies of drunk teens. My eyes didn't wander and fixed on the back of the butler leading the way. I was here to find out what bullshit Nico was feeding my brother, no one was allowed to mess with my brother but me.
I was trying to formulate a plan in my mind when I ran into the back of the well dressed servant. He didn't look to happy with the contact. "Sorry man."
He cleared his throat with a glare in his eyes as he spoke. "Through here sir." His arm extended and his hand pointed into a open room. It looked like a library when I first stepped in, books lined the walls from end to end and a large dark wood desk sat in the middle with a few thick chairs in front of it. "Young master, you're guest has arrived."
The room looked empty to me until Nico had responded and my gaze lifted to another floor in the open room. "Thanks Geev's. You know I'd almost given up hope that you'd come back here. I would've had to send my hounds out to find you." He was leaning over the railing to the second floor flipping through an old looking leather back book.
"What the f**k did you say to my brother?" I yelled up at him holding nothing back.
"I'm not sure what you're talking about. Could you be a bit more specific, Loni?" He snapped the book closed and placed it on a shelf behind him.
"Don't bullshit me Nico, when you f*****g drugged me and took us home, meanwhile telling my brother a bunch of bullshit about living in my shadow?" I wished so bad that my eyes were able to shoot actual daggers out at him, but I had to settle for uncomfortable tension.
"Hmm, you're a smart one aren't you? To bad your brother doesn't share your intelligence. He does have quite a love for you though and it seems like you have a deep love for him as well." He descended a small ladder hidden behind the door I'd entered. "So tell me, what are your plans after you graduate?"
"Don't try changing the subject. What other crap did you fill my brother's head with?" I was losing patience with this fucker and I was holding back the urge to punch him.
"I can tell you everything Loni, why don't we sit and have a drink. I promise I won't put anything in it this time." He gave a flashy smile that I wasn't buying.
"Just f*****g tell me what I want to know, Nico." I seethed his name as I spoke.
"I have to say I've never had such joy in making someone so mad. Take a seat." He patted the back of a large leather chair in front of him.
"I'm fine." I was talking through clenched teeth.
"I'll admit, not many people talk to me like you do." His bright green eyes gave me a once over that made me feel uncomfortable, crossing my arms I looked over to study the wall of books. "You like my collection? You can borrow any book you like."
"I'm not here to be chummy with you, I want to know how much bullshit you've fed to my brother." I ran my hand through my thick black hair in frustration. "You have no right to be telling my brother crap like he's not going to shine in my shadow. Or the fact he's even in my shadow."
"You do realize that he's old enough to make his own choices and he chose to listen to what I had to say." Nico was now leaning on the corner of the large wooden desk, a small coy smile spread on face.
"You don't know the s**t we've been through, I've been keeping him out of trouble and in school. I want you to stay away from him, you f*****g go near him or say anything. I will f*****g kill you." I had taken a few steps towards him with balled fists.
"Again Loni, I don't think it's your choice what Rory does." He gave a scratch to his cheek and tilted his head. "He's been coming here nearly every night for the past two weeks… think you can figure out what kind've job he's been doing for me?"
I was seething with anger and closed the gap between the two of us. "You mother fucker, if you put a hand on my brother-"
"I've become quite irritated with you assuming such things of me, Loni." Nico was standing, his hand had grappled the back of my neck and both our green eyes locked with each other. He spoke his next words in a low husky voice. "There's only one person I have eyes on… and it's only another fifty-seven days till I can have them."
His words sent a strange feeling vibrating through my body and I pushed myself away from him. "J-just stay the f**k away from my brother…" I was taking unsteady steps backwards when I bumped into something hard. I turned to see the old butler standing rooted in place, his nose high and eyes low as they settled on me.
"Great timing Alexander. Please show Loni to the door… don't forget, party tonight." With that I was being lead out with a firm hand on my back.
