Chapter 4- Chad’s Inner Struggle

I can’t get Charlie off of my mind, every moment of every day. The pull I feel towards her just keeps getting stronger and stronger... It's like a magnetic force field drawing me towards her, that I could not escape.. Although I would not want to escape her even if it were possible..

After I saw her in that red dress in the mall, I had to use every ounce of strength I had to keep my wolf from claiming her right then and there. And then afterwards, when the girls went to look for lingerie, I could see Jesse trying to peek into the store to see what they were buying. I was ready to kill him on the spot... Instead, I sent him out to go get the car warmed up..

Jesse was becoming a problem. As soon as I claimed Charlie as my mate on her eighteenth birthday, the first thing I was going to do was assign Jesse to a different position. He is getting a little too attached to what is mine, and I do not plan to share her with anyone...

Alpha Luther has upped the security around Charlie the past few weeks. Even more overboard than he usually was. He has also upped her training sessions and she is only training with the Alpha from now on.

He has not said why he has made these changes, but we all feel a lot of tension anytime the topic of Charlie is brought up to the Alpha..

For Rebecca and Chris’ birthday party he had added quite a few extra guards to watch over Charlie for the party. I knew that this was outside of his comfort zone. After all, he had never allowed her to attend an event outside of the pack house before.. But I could not help but feel frustrated that it would be nearly impossible to get close to Charlie while she is surrounded by so much security..

“Just wait until he sees her in that exposing dress” I said to Chase in my mind. “He probably won’t even let her leave the pack house like that.”

I can feel my eyes darken as we think about ripping that red dress off of Charlie’s perfect body. I wanted nothing more than to make her mine, and I could not shake the feeling that each moment longer that I had to wait, felt like an eternity without being one with my mate.

For Charlie’s birthday party the Alpha had setup a similar strategy, as if we were expecting an attack. Charlie will not be alone at any moment, for the entire evening, and when she shifts into her wolf she will have the Alpha, Beta and Gamma all surrounding her in their wolf forms.

Alpha Luther has even gone to the extent of also asking Chris and I to be there to protect Charlie as she shifts.. Chris would also be shifting into his wolf for the first time that evening, but Alpha Luther was determined to protect his daughter in every way possible. None of us know what the big deal is, but, of course, we will always follow our Alpha’s orders.

Tonight is the night of Rebecca’s and Chris’ eighteenth birthday party. I haven’t been to the pack house yet today to wish Rebecca a Happy Birthday and see Charlie... But I was determined to make it there soon. Any moment I was not near Charlie, she would consume my thoughts, and I worried about her safety.

As soon as I had woken up and went to Chris’ room to wish him a happy birthday, he was already gone..

I decided to go for a run. I was trying to tire my wolf as much as possible before this evening. I knew as soon as we saw Charlie in that dress tonight with all the male eyes staring at her, I would have a hard time keeping my wolf under control... I also knew if Chase had the chance of taking over control of my body, he would mate and mark Charlie right then and there, which would most likely result in Alpha Luther ripping my head off..

I was walking past the training centre when I ran into Charlie and Alpha Luther exiting the building. Charlie was drenched in sweat and wearing nothing but a sports bra and short spandex shorts. I froze as I tried to keep my body under control. The last thing I needed was for the Alpha to witness me with a hard on for his daughter. He would probably kill me on the spot...

She smelled absolutely scrumptous and I found it difficult to hide my desire from her and her father... It was torture being this close to her and not being able to act on my feelings.. On my desires.. She was everything I had always wanted, and I was getting so close to having her forever.

“Chad, where are you off to in such a hurry?” Alpha Luther asked as I was trying to rush away before they saw me.

I could see Charlie looking at me with a smile on her face from the corner of my eye. I couldn’t help but turn towards her and smile back. My gaze started to fall on her large bust glistening with her sweat. I gulped loudly and was broken out of my daze by a deathly snarl. Alpha Luther saw me gawking at his daughter and was giving me a death glare. Normally, I knew better then to let my guard down in front of the Alpha, but now that I knew Charlie was my fated mate, I struggled to keep Chase from challenging Alpha Luther for his daughter.. I knew he would never trust me with Charlie if I ever acted against his wishes.

“Don’t be a p***y” Chase growled in my head, “tell the Alpha she is our mate and claim what is ours!” Chase did not agree with my plan to wait till Charlie turned eighteen to claim her and face the Alpha. He wanted to mark her now and deal with the consequences.

“I want to mark her just as badly as you do. But if we piss off the Alpha now, he may choose someone else to take over the pack from him. He will never trust me to protect his daughter if I remain as a Gamma. We need to wait until Charlie claims us back, and then, hopefully, the Alpha will trust us enough to protect his pack and his daughter.”

I realized I was arguing with my wolf in my mind instead of answering my Alpha's question.. I bowed my head to the Alpha and apologized for my actions.

“I am just heading out for a run, Alpha, my wolf needs to burn some energy before the party tonight.” I held my breath waiting for the Alpha’s response, just hoping he wouldn’t kill me right there. My control towards his daughter was failing more and more each day. I felt nervous as if Alpha Luther could see right through my facade.. I took a deep breath to try and control my heart rate.

“Very well, don’t be long. You will need to get ready for tonight. You have first watch for Charlie’s patrol this evening. And you never know, maybe when you are done your patrol for the evening you will be able to find your destined mate.” Alpha Luther gave me a smirk and put his hand on my shoulder... Little did he know that I had already found her, and it was his daughter..

Out of the corner of my eye I could see Charlie’s frown at the mention of me finding my mate. I smirked back at Alpha Luther, enjoying Charlie’s jealousy and trying to resist staring at her.

I quickly took my leave towards the forest and stripped out of my clothes to shift into my wolf. I took off through the forest as my large black wolf was bounding past trees as fast as he could. I needed to get as far away from Charlie as I could in order to guarantee my wolf wouldn’t turn around now and claim her right there. She had complete control over me.. I was in trouble..
