Jemima's POV
I heard their furious growls on the other side. I wasn't scared of water because I'm a good swimmer.
"Jemima you've escaped!" I shouted in excitement after I quickly swam to the bank.
But I knew I had no time to celebrate because I was still not out of danger. Alexander would report my escape to Alpha soon, who wouldn't like it. They would continue to capture me as long as I was alive. And with leaving the previous pack without permission, I would soon be reduced to a rogue that no pack would welcome.
I must find a safe place to land before I go wild. I hoped, after all this, the goddess could show me some mercy. I didn't want to experience any hell like before.
As I kept running through the woods, I noticed a constant sound. At first, I couldn't tell where the ticking sound was coming from. I stopped walking but the sound won't stop. I ran for a while hoping that it was the environment that I was in but it kept ticking.
So I decided to check my luggage. Lo and behold, I found what was ticking. It wasn't only ticking but was also shining. Taking out the compass which was the only thing I got from my mother, I looked at it for a while. Then I opened the compass and my mouth hung open.
Looking at it, it was as if it was telling me to face a direction. Since I've carried this compass, it has never moved. I had thought it wasn't a real compass but jewelry. Looking at the direction it was pointing at, I became confused.
I wondered how the compass became activated. I didn't even know how to use one but one thing I knew was that it would definitely take me away from their brutal people.
I followed the part and kept running. I met no one on my way. That was surprising but also a relief.
I was so tired and decided to rest before I continued my journey. It was then I noticed that the compass already stopped rocking and the lights were also down. I looked at the rock in front of me and I saw a part way.
"Let me just relax here for the night," I said to myself.
I was actually afraid but even if I stayed outside, it was all the same. Anything that wants to harm me could do it both in and out. So I summoned my courage and entered the cave. Every step I took towards the cave was giving me goosebumps that at some point I decided against going in there but then something seemed to be pulling me in.
Stepping into the cave, it was dark and I had nothing to give me light. I kept on going wishing I had a wolf. My wolf's eyes would have saved me in darkness.
I was still contemplating whether to stay or not, when the chain that I never removed suddenly began to blink like a jewel. That was shocking because I had wanted to pawn it because of hunger but the pawn shop owner said it's not a jewel but right now it was blinking like a jewel.
Soon the cave started to have lights. Each candle stick that I just discovered started to have lights and this got me scared. I didn't know if I had trespassed into the cave of a witch. Just then I looked at the wall and it was as if fire was writing a strange language on the wall.
The most shocking thing was that I understood the language.
The words on the wall were a strange language. The one I've never heard of before but it was surprising that I could read it. It was like some sort of prophecy.
My eyes widened when my name Jemima was widely written in it. I didn't understand what it meant. It was talking about a hybrid and about many warriors. Even in my confusion, I kept on reading.
The person this prophecy must be talking to was indeed powerful and I envy her. Although she bears my name, I'm sure she's not me. I'm a weak omega who doesn't have a wolf.
I wanted to read the mural more because I wanted to know more but the moment I stretched my hand to touch it, a voice stopped me.
"Don't you touch the sacred wall!" The deep voice said.
I paused in shock and then quickly looked around to see if anyone was there with me but I was no one and that scared me the most.
"Is there a ghost in here?" I asked myself while looking around.
" Who are you to trespass on the forbidden land of the Alpha King? " The voice asked.
" Alpha King? " I was dazed.
This isn't the land of the Alpha King. I was sure I crossed into the Nightcrawler pack. I paused to think of it, I didn't know who the Alpha of the Nightcrawler pack was. I was so scared that I trembled and the necklace that I'd worn for years fell off my neck.
Then all the light in the cave went off. I screamed because I was afraid and I started to look for the necklace.
"You must leave!" The voice said to me.
That was scarier than looking for a necklace. It was as if whatever was talking was approaching me because I could hear footsteps.
I forgot about the necklace and tried to escape in the dark but just as I got out of the cave, I hit something so hard that a hand grabbed me and made me scream again.
I then realised that what held me had a heartbeat. I slowly look up only for me to meet with two beautiful big green eyes. I felt a strange emotion hit me all my body weakened.
The next minute, I blacked out.
