Daisy sat on the protruding roots of a giant tree and leaned her back against the trunk. She startled at every foreign sound and looked around nervously. She was extremely jumpy and on edge. Fear was coming off her in waves. Rey silently shook his head in exasperation as he watched her. He dropped the stick he had been sharpening with a pocket knife. The covered the distance between them and crouch down in front of her. “Relax,” his voice was calm as he spoke. “At the rate you are going, you are more likely to die from high blood pressure; as agitated as you are.” He paused and took her hands before adding, “I have my eye out for any danger. You are safe, please relax.” She gave him a weak smile and nodded. She was still shaken up from the unexpected visitation of a snake that morning.
