Ambush

I remember a proverb of this. The mantis stalks the cicada, unaware of the oriole behind. These dungeon raiders don’t even aware of my presence.

I looked at the party who is fighting the kobolds. Their average level should be pretty high. Their battle capabilities are twice from Lion’s heart guild party that I met. I can say that they are a legitimate E rank party.

That being said, the dungeon raiders should be around the same level since they are brave enough to prepare an ambush on the dungeon diver party.

I examined the dungeon diver party. Not for any particular reason but because I am interested in the monster, kobold. After this is done, I will do the dungeon myself so I will be paying attention to details. Like how they move and what kind of attack they are capable of.

After watching for a bit, I know that kobold ability was average, like a goblin. The only difference is their numbers which gathered in groups. Kobold never moves alone; they are usually in a group of 3 at a minimum which makes it annoying to deal with.

The party of five dungeon divers is pretty balanced. One tanker in front, two melee attackers, one mage, and one healer. Although they lacked a ranged physical attacker like an archer, the mage is capable enough to keep dishing out damage with the two melee attackers fill the gap between spell.

The party of dungeon raiders seemed to be mainly composed of a thief or rogue class. As they are all bringing a short sword which they are carried on the back. It was positioned in the lower back and can be easily taken out for an attack.

The dungeon divers party encountered a party of five kobolds and feel the pressure coming. They are still not aware of the dungeon raiders that are watching them from afar.

“Sarah, I need a heal over here.”

“God of light, please give us your blessings. 《Heal》!”

“Please hang on a little bit Damian and tank for us. Me and Troy will finish them quickly.”

“It would be better if you move your hand and feet instead of your mouth Daniel. Hatsumi, is the spell isn’t ready yet?”

“I’m working on it, almost there Damian. Feel the wrath of the sky, 《Thunder Bolt》!”

Although they faced some hardship because of the number of kobolds, they clearly have worked together long enough to cover each other back. Their coordination is much better than Lion’s heart party.

Amidst the murder and betrayal inside the dungeon, the world still has these kinds of people who fully trust each other with their life.

Seeing them working hard and relying on each other sincerely, honestly, it hit a soft spot in my heart.

I guess the world still needs these good people so humanity didn’t fall into complete chaos.

I guess I will help them out.

I take out the fire sword on my right and the goblin’s cleaver on my left. I really should replace my goblin’s cleaver when I got the chance since the attack power is low. But this is sufficient for now. I think the short sword that the dungeon raiders carry is good enough to replace this goblin’s cleaver.

I approached the party of dungeon raiders and hear them whispering to each other.

“Boss, aren’t we going to attack them? Their party seemed to be strong. If we want to attack them, using the confusion when they are attacked by the kobold is the best opportunity.”

“Ssssh! Why are you pressing the boss? He already did this countless times and knew it better than a lousy head as you can think. The Boss is just waiting for the right time when their mana has run out. You just need to wait for Boss’s signal.”

“Be quiet guys. Let’s focus and wait for Boss command.”

Becoming the boss for this group of dungeon raiders can mean two things. First, he has the highest level among them or second, he is the one with the most cunning and devious plan so the other is afraid of him.

Looking at the figure of the boss that they referred to, it seems that he was the second one. The strongest one of this dungeon raider party is actually a bald man with a face full of scar that never said anything from the start.

He is the one that is giving the most intimidating presence so should I take care of him first?

No matter what, I trusted my instinct and silently walked towards the bald man. Before I take action, I have a question in my mind. How to do this without them realizing it? If I killed one of them successfully, they will realize it immediately. Should I wait for them to attack the dungeon diver before I kill one of them?

That seemed to be the best choice but then the tired dungeon diver will be involved in a battle with the energized dungeon raiders that is already prepared for their ambush. Casualties will be inevitable but there’s nothing much I can do about it. They should be grateful enough that I decided to help them.

The battle between the dungeon diver and the kobold is reaching the end. After another spell launched by the mage, the number of the kobold fell into 3 and the two melee attackers swiftly ended the wounded enemy.

“Now!”

The dungeon raiders already waiting for this moment. Of course, I am waiting for it too.

The moment they decided to move, I swiftly pressed my fire sword towards the bald man’s heart from behind. Using my left hand to attack the heart, my right hand isn’t standing still as I slit the bald man’s throat at the same time. This kind of movement was unthinkable for me before but due to dual-wielding skills, I am doing it as natural as breathing.

The bald man’s health bar immediately turned to black as he falls to the ground. The dungeon raiders didn’t even notice their missing member as they are busily focusing on their target. Next!

「You have killed ‘scarface’ Jiro. 」

「 You have earned 2500 Experience. 」

「 You have leveled up. 」

「You have gained 10 unallocated stats point. 」

This man actually gives me so many experience points and it makes my level gone up once. I actually haven’t allocated my stats also and it makes me remember that I actually haven’t chosen a class. I will immediately be done so after I’m finished with them.

“Watch out!”

The dungeon diver isn’t slow in responding to the dungeon raider ambush. The tank, Damian immediately used a taunt skill to direct all of the attacks to himself. Seeing the current situation. How should I make my next move?
