Battle with the raiders

The dungeon divers party seemed to have experienced an ambush before from how fast they react to the ambush from the dungeon raiders.

Damian the tank immediately takes control of the situation by using a skill 《taunt》. It forces the dungeon raiders to attack Damian which he blocked using the shield on hand.

“Darn it! Just as we finished with the kobold, these pests come running.”

“Daniel! Focus!”

It will soon become a disadvantage for the dungeon divers if they didn’t take control of it fast. The enemy has four melee attackers while they only have 3 close combatants. If they let their guard down, their ranged party member might be taken out.

It was a normal logic that ranged attackers have the advantage of dealing a large of damage from far but when a melee attacker got near to them, they are basically easy prey. There is some exception for this but it was a rare case.

“F*ck it! Where is scarface? If he was here, we should be able to finish this quickly.”

The dungeon raiders realized that they are missing one member as their attack is being held down by Damian.

“I think he should be flanking them, right? Although he isn’t smart, he is strong and sometimes makes a big contribution.”

The dungeon raiders are putting their hope on a corpse. I don’t know if I should laugh at them or not.

The taunt duration soon going to end. Damian, Daniel, and Troy each being preoccupied with one dungeon raiders.

“Johnny, while we’re tangled up here, you should find the opportunity to attack their rear.”

“Alright Boss!”

The remaining one of the dungeon raiders then heading for Sarah and Hatsumi.

“Kyaaa!”

“Nooo! Don’t come to us!”

To tell the truth, if I didn’t decide to help them out and take out scarface in the beginning, the dungeon diver party will be wiped out in no time. Not to mention that the one I take out is the strongest out of them.

Alright, since I already decided to help them, it wasn’t good to stop mid-way. The question now is how to help them without being noticed?

As I know that the free dungeon raider will aim for the two women, I am ready to intercept him. I lay down in the path that he will take, I positioned the goblin’s cleaver on my right hand in front of me and I used my left foot to kick the dungeon raider’s feet and make him stumble.

He was surprised as he falls and positioned his hand upfront to held his body up but my goblin’s cleaver is already there. I simply push it forward and it pierces his heart. Killing him instantly.

「You have killed Johnny. 」

「 You have earned 800 Experience. 」

As I thought, the rest of the dungeon raiders are relatively weaker than the scarface that I killed earlier. It can be seen from the amount of experience that they give when I kill them.

I should also give myself an award for being a great director. I bet Johnny's death looks 100% natural. Stumble, falls down, and died.

I pushed Johnny’s corpse to the side and it looks like it was rolling to the side after falling. Such an artistic way to die.

“Eh, wait! What happened? Is he feigning death?”

The two women that I saved looked flabbergasted as they look at Johnny’s corpse. And as I thought, they didn’t realize my existence that has saved them. Let them believe that it was God who helped them. This is divine retribution for the dungeon raiders that have committed a lot of atrocious act.

But wait, if they think that it was God who helped them; doesn’t mean that I am a God now?

As I am thinking about the concept of becoming God, I look at the situation. The dungeon raiders didn’t even know that two of their party members have died and still locked up in a battle with the dungeon diver.

“Hatsumi, don’t blank out! We need to help Damian and the rest.”

A wave of warm lights covered Damian as his wound is healed. Damian is happy with the support and he feels more energized. He didn’t know what happened but as Sarah healed him, he knows that the two women managed to get out of their predicament somehow.

“F*ck this! What is Johnny doing? He couldn’t even take care of two women and give them a chance to use skills. I’m going to skin him alive after this!”

The battle soon leaning towards the dungeon diver as the winner. Hatsumi is already casting her spell and ready to launch it anytime. To be honest I could just sit back and enjoy the show but I shouldn’t waste the experience from the three remaining dungeon raiders.

“Hatsumi, now!”

As Damian gives his command, Hatsumi released the spell that she already prepares. Thunder hits the three dungeon raiders and rendered them immobilized for a moment because of being electrocuted.

I was going to attack them but the thunder blocked my way. I am taking a distance from it because I don’t want to be fried alive too.

Not long after, the thunder subsided and I can see the figure of the dungeon raiders charred black.

“Hatsumi, did you finish them off?”

Hatsumi shook her head towards Damian's inquiry.

“Alright then, we should tie them up and hand them to the authorities.”

“You know Damian, it is better to just kill them here. It will save us some trouble too.”

“Daniel, I have told you many times that even though the world has changed and murder is common. We shouldn’t be like them.”

“You and your d*mned sense of justice. Even Troy agrees with me for this one.”

“Indeed, we don’t know whether they have friends or not. We might have to face consequences from letting the go today.”

Troy who didn’t speak at all when the fight happened agreed to Daniel’s suggestion.

“B-but I think we should just hand them over to the authorities. I don’t want to kill anyone.”

“It’s not you who will do the killing Sarah. It is me.”

“That’s the same! I don’t want any of us to kill other humans.”

The party then tied the dungeon raiders who couldn’t even move anymore together. Troy then headed towards Johnny’s corpse, wanted to tie him together with the rest. But when he checked the body, he realized that it was already lifeless.

“Hatsumi, Sarah, did you guys kill this person?”

Hatsumi and Sarah shook their hand in panic.

“What happened? Is he dead?”

Troy nodded and at this time Daniel and Damian already finished tying up the dungeon raider and approached Johnny’s corpse.

“We don’t know what happened. This person tried to attack us but suddenly he stumbled mid-way and rolled over. He didn’t move after that so we leave him alone and helped you guys.”

Hearing the explanation from Sarah, the party seemed confused. Something is strange here. They also remember that they are talking about one other party member. They decided to search the area and found scarface’s corpse.

I think this is the right moment to kill the dungeon raider. While they are not paying attention to the dungeon raider that is passed out, I killed them silently by slitting their throat.

「You have killed James. 」

「 You have earned 700 Experience. 」

「You have killed Jason. 」

「 You have earned 850 Experience. 」

「You have killed ‘Boss’ Jeremy. 」

「 You have earned 1400 Experience. 」

The boss clearly gives more experience than the rest but still not as much as scarface. I also didn’t level up this time because I think that the experience needed to level up increased exponentially as my level gets higher.

I already killed all of them so I should go back and watch the dungeon diver party from afar.

When Damian and the rest of his party found out that the three dungeon raiders that they tied up actually died with a slit on their throat, they feel scared.

“What is happening here? How can they all die? Not to mention that the three of them were slit at the throat. Who could possibly do this?”

Daniel as the chatterbox of the team is the first one to break the silence.

“I don’t know. It seems that there is someone helping us in the dark. But that person levels should be a lot higher than us to do this unnoticed.” Damian calmly asserted the situation but he himself doubted it. It is just too bizarre. Not to mention the scarface that died before joining the attack, the way Johnny died also out of the norm. Now, with the three of the dungeon raiders died with their throat slit, it is not your everyday occurrence.

“I think they must have suffered heavenly retribution. I think God is helping us to escape this situation.” Sarah with her strong belief in Gods spoke her mind.

“More like death because of the grim reaper is coming for them. I think they killed a lot of people and their grudge actually accumulates into a grim reaper.” Troy making his own conclusion after deep thinking.

The party accepted his explanation because that is the most reasonable answer. For Damian’s theory, even if the person who helped them from the dark has a high-level gap with them, they should still realize it when that person made his move. Not to mention killing the three dungeon raiders which are tied up and under their surveillance.

“Alright, let’s not think about it further and proceed to clear the dungeon. Else our hard work will come to nothing.”

“Okay.”

Damian party then resumed their dungeon diving without any other important event worth mentioning.

Ah, finally their party finished their dungeon diving. Now, I just need to wait for the kobold to respawned and I will start hunting. Oh right, I haven’t allocated my stats and choose a class. I think I will do that first.
